Margaret Carlson Mocks Tea Party as 'Blowing Off Steam,' Praises Obama as Like Richard Holbrooke
On Friday’s Political Capital show, Bloomberg’s Margaret Carlson lavished praise on President Obama has having "negotiating skills" like the recently deceased diplomat Richard Holbrooke - known for facilitating a ceasefire in Bosnia in the mid-1990s - as host Al Hunt asked Carlson and the National Review’s Kate O’Beirne to describe what Christmas gifts they would figuratively give to various public figures. Carlson: "I’m going to give him an inscribed copy of the late, great Richard Holbrooke’s memoir, in honor of Obama’s negotiating skills in this lame duck session. All he had to do was give up tax cuts - for which the Republican Party stands - to the wealthy who don’t need it in exchange for everything else he got."
She went on to trash Tea Party Republicans recently elected to Congress as "blowing off steam." Carlson: "I’m afraid that they might succumb to earmarks and lobbyists. They give every sign of that. So I’m going to give them a tea kettle because all they’ve done so far is blow off steam."
Carlson ended up mocking Sarah Palin as being capable of shooting Santa’s reindeer as she advised Republican presidential candidates to stay out of Palin’s "line of fire." Carlson: "Now, this is a sweet gift. I’m going to give Sarah Palin’s rivals a DVD of Sarah Palin’s Alaska. Take a lesson from the caribou - who look suspiciously like Santa’s reindeers - and do not get in her line of fire."
Below is a transcript of relevant portions of the Friday, December 24, Political Capital from Bloomberg News :
AL HUNT: Let me turn now to our two favorite jolly elves - Kate and Margaret - whose yuletide generosity has always been one of their hallmarks. And in the spirit of the holiday - I know you both believe it is better to give than to receive - so what are you going to give, Margaret, to Barack Obama this year?
MARGARET CARLSON: I’m going to give him an inscribed copy of the late, great Richard Holbrooke’s memoir, in honor of Obama’s negotiating skills in this lame duck session. All he had to do was give up tax cuts - for which the Republican Party stands - to the wealthy who don’t need it in exchange for everything else he got.
...
Well, I hope this passes Kate’s generosity standard. I’m going to give John Boehner a gift certificate to smoke Enders. When you look at the balcony outside the Speaker’s office - and he always has a cigarette dangling from his lips - it’s not at all dignified. And I’m going to give him one with Obama because he could slip back and they could bond over pictures of Black Lung Disease.
HUNT: Oh, Margaret! Margaret, how about all these Tea Party Republicans who will be arriving in town in about 10 days. Now, you must have a nice gift for them.
CARLSON: Ah, yes, yes, I’m afraid that they might succumb to earmarks and lobbyists. They give every sign of that. So I’m going to give them a tea kettle because all they’ve done so far is blow off steam.
...
Now, this is a sweet gift. I’m going to give Sarah Palin’s rivals a DVD of Sarah Palin’s Alaska. Take a lesson from the caribou - who look suspiciously like Santa’s reindeers - and do not get in her line of fire.

I feel sorry for the Newsbusters staff sometimes. I mean, to have to listen to these lurches like Carleson day in and day out. Where do these people come from?!? And how do they pull such B.S. out of their orifaces? Obama is an embarrassment and all the "spin" in the world will not change that fact. Only thing he could do to change his image now is to do something successful and worthwhile. I won't hold my breath.

In another thread Mid America and I discussed having a "normal" president again. Try and spin as they might, Carlson and all the rest of the liberal press can't change the fact that this president and his administration are bizarre. These are not normal people - they don't act normally, they don't do normal things we understand an administration is supposed to do. The past two years has been like a bad dream, where the national circumstances and occurences are what you might expect awake, but the political response from Obama, his administration, and his liberal allies is off -kilter, weird, not right - even for liberals. We talk about things now that we never talked about before - like a "beer summit " between a president and his vice president, a police officert, and a radical professor, a president who goes abroad apologizing for American history and policies, weird press briefings where a former president takes over, and so many other things of the likes that have never happened in the past. And the liberal press just keeps pretending that all of this is just normal politcal practice. It's not. I feel like we are in the Twilight Zone.

She supposes herself an expert and is expert in nothing, the leftist's true specialty as those who write and work for collectivism tack their road to serfdom for the American people... let them take that road for their own, but the rest of us shall take a different course and leave them in our dust. No history, no good, no legacy of worth--leftists leave nothing of value when they pass.
All they leave are people who bought what they were selling and become hateful leftists themselves.
Carlson is worthless.

Al Hunt used to be a part of the Wall Street Journal editorial staff. However, he was finally run off a couple of years ago. I thought the world had finally had enough of his socialist blather, but up he pops on Bloomberg a while back. With him is a cabal of socialist like Carlson.
This highlights the orientation of Bloomberg himself as to his politics - liberal - despite him being the "Republican" mayor of NY city. I can't think of a conservative commentator one on his network. It is liberal commentator crap 24 X 7.
You've got to wonder how a man like Bloomberg that has benefitted so greatly from capitalism would hold political views antithetical to this system.
So when's the wedding of Al and Margaret?

Wherever he goes she goes, Capital Gang, Bloomberg, and Al's current show.
The only reason to have her on TV shows is as a program jester.
At Amazon you can buy Margaret's book "Anyone Can Grow Up: How George Bush and I Made It to the White House" for 1 penny.
Her book at Amazon is ranked #2,483,243 in books. Must be her opinion is valued.

Why do all "progessive" women look gender neutral? Honestly...Eleanor Clift, Rachel Maddow, Janine Garofolo, Hillary Clinton, and now this guy (er, I mean gal...I think)... I mean, what's up with that?

Maybe they ARE gender neutral. It would be a blessing to men everywhere if they would be so.

I think 'gender neutral' is really a nice way of putting it...............I'd be coming up with something a little more blunt!!! And with Garafalo and a couple of others, I'm not sure where the 'gender' thing comes into play!!
But, you look at all of these 'people' that we've mentioned here...........and you take into account their attitudes and agendas..............and you realize what we're up against!!!

I am not a good speechmaker, never have laid claim to it...unlike this Carlson item and her tyrannical partners.
Here I use her own dreck back at her:
" all they’ve done so far is blow off steam."
Almost fifty years earlier..
"It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. And those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam, and will now be content, will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. And there will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.
But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence."
There are applicable parallels in the late Rev. King's speech... and -his- adversaries were also the Democrats.
