Lefty Journos Find New Favorite Target in Bachmann

By Aubrey Vaughan | July 28, 2011 | 15:21

First it was her migraines, then it was the cost of her hair and makeup, and now it's correlating her anti-gay views to bullying and suicides in a school district she represents. Rep. Michele Bachmann has in many ways become the new Sarah Palin as a prominent female target the media love to hate. Even when she responds to her critics, they don't seem to go away.

Bachmann suffers from migraines, like 30 million other Americans, but has proved through her career the migraines don't hinder her ability to serve. Nevertheless, she immediately released a statement from her doctor explaining her migraines are under control. In comparison, both former President Bill Clinton and President Barack Obama had health issues that could have turned into major problems during their presidencies, but neither released their medical records. Clinton had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and clogged coronary arteries, while Obama was a longtime smoker with a family history of cancer.

The transparency of Bachmann's immediate medical explanation was not enough to satisfy critics, though, who have since found more ways to attack her. Mother Jones's Andy Kroll complained about her expensive hair and makeup being offensive to the ideas of fiscal conservatism, but he instead came off as being sexist. As the Atlantic's Elspeth Reeve explains,

Michele Bachmann has spent at least $4,700 getting her hair and makeup done since she declared she's running for president June 13, campaign finance disclosures show. Mother Jones' Andy Kroll says that this could be Bachmann's "own John-Edwards'-$400-haircut moment," given the Republican's "crusade against government spending and her demand that America live within its means." But it seems like this is closer to her own Sarah-Palin's-$150,000-wardrobe moment where a female candidate is deemed unserious because she tries to meet to the demands of high-definition television cameras--in this case, by not letting her pores show.

First lady Michelle Obama was never hit with the same flak for her expensive campaign trail wardrobe, which drew pieces from a number of high-end designers, including a $900 dress worn in St. Paul, Minnesota (right outside Bachmann's district) following her husband's primary victory speech.

Now more serious criticism has been leveled against Bachmann for the "teen suicide epidemic" of nine suicides over a two-year period in her district. Again, Mother Jones called out Bachmann, blaming her for her anti-gay stances and lack of support for anti-bullying laws. While Bachmann has not responded, she has previously told legislators,

I think, for all us, our experience in public schools is there have always been bullies, always have been, always will be. I just don't know how we're ever going to get to point of zero tolerance and what does it mean? ... What will be our definition of bullying? Will it get to the point where we are completely stifling free speech and expression? Will it mean that what form of behavior will there be - will we be expecting boys to be girls?

Dan Reidenberg, the executive director of a Minnesota suicide prevention group called SAVE, responded to the article in the New York Daily News. He has worked closely with the school district in question, and described the categorization of the suicides as an "epidemic" to be innaccurate.

There was a higher number of suicides in a higher period of time in one area than is normal, but if you look at overall trends, it has gone down. … Overall, there was no trending.

Even if Bachmann does respond to the latest criticism, it is unlikely to end the current trend of Bachmann bashing.

If a "journo" is righty or lefty, then they're not a journo in the pure sense of the word. They should be unbiased, reporting the news without opinion.

"In comparison, both former President Bill Clinton and President Barack Obama had health issues that could have turned into major problems during their presidencies, but neither released their medical records. Clinton had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and clogged coronary arteries, while Obama was a longtime smoker with a family history of cancer."

A point brought up here in several posts....

John F'n Kerry who reported for dooty... Made a promise to release his medical records, has STILL not signed the Standard Form 180 (SF 180) to release those records. The left has forgotten that promise.

This is a trend for liberal/progressive/democrat "leaders".

Looks like you forgot, too.

On May 20, [2005] Kerry signed a document called Standard Form 180, authorizing the Navy to send an ''undeleted" copy of his ''complete military service record and medical record" to the Globe. Asked why he delayed signing the form for so long, Kerry said in a written response: ''The call for me to sign a 180 form came from the same partisan operatives who were lying about my record on a daily basis on the Web and in the right-wing media. Even though the media was discrediting them, they continued to lie. I felt strongly that we shouldn't kowtow to them and their attempts to drag their lies out."

Many of the records contain praise for Kerry's service. For example, the documents quote Kerry's former commanding officers as saying he is ''one of the finest young officers with whom I have served;" is ''the acknowledged leader of his peer group;" and is ''highly recommended for promotion."

"And there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the--of--the historical customs, religious customs."

“You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”

In October 2003, a year after voting to support the use of force in Iraq, Kerry voted against an $87 billion supplemental funding bill for U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. He did support an alternative bill that funded the $87 billion by cutting some of President Bush's tax cuts.Kerry complicated matters with his now infamous words, "I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it."

Kerry joined with 97 other senators and voted for the Patriot Act in October 2001. Campaigning in New Hampshire in June 2003, he defended his vote, saying, "it has to do with things that really were quite necessary in the wake of what happened on Sept. 11. "But last December in Iowa, Kerry advocated "replacing the Patriot Act with a new law that protects our people and our liberties at the same time."

Here is one just breaking that you may be ignorant to:
A Vietnam veteran who defended Sen. John Kerry against "Swift Boat" attacks in the 2004 presidential race has been stripped of his Silver Star by the Navy -- more than a year after he was sentenced to prison on a child pornography charge.

But the Silver Star wasn't stripped from Wade Sanders because of the child porn conviction, per se.

Military officials told Fox News the medal was revoked in 2010 after Navy investigators looked into his record and found administrative errors surrounding how the award was created. Sources said Sanders was responsible for those administrative errors and may have lied.

I became aware of that when bkeyser posted about it yesterday and I also read several of the articles which reported on it. In fact, I read the entire court document which was filed meticulously detailing Sanders child porn collection, the forensic analysis of his computer, his explanaton and the sentencing recommendations. I probably know more about the case than you do at this point.

And the Globe...

Edited them for him.

Where is the grenade incident that led to a grain of rice bruising his elite arse that led to a Purple Heart, written up by him?

John Kerry's presidential campaign claimed on Tuesday that his Christmas 1968 mission into Cambodia was top, top secret - and that's why there are no documents that verify the implausible claim.

"During John Kerry's service in Vietnam, many times he was on or near the Cambodian border and on one occasion crossed into Cambodia at the request of members of a special operations group operating out of Ha Tien," Kerry spokesman Michael Meehan said in a statement. But Meehan told the Boston Globe that there was no paperwork to confirm the claim and he could not supply a date for the incursion.

What's more, two of Kerry's crewmates who enthusiastically back his candidacy and who served with him on missions near the Cambodian border insists the crossing never happened.

Michael Medeiros, who served on Swiftboat No. 94 with Kerry and appeared with him at the Democratic National Convention, told the Globe that Kerry and his crew chased an enemy to the Cambodian border - but stooped there. He could not recall dropping off special forces in Cambodia or going inside Cambodia with Kerry.

James Wasser, who accompanied Kerry on the Christmas mission aboard Swiftboat No. 44, said that while he believes they were "very, very close" to Cambodia, they did not enter the country. "It is very hard to tell. There are no signs," he told the Globe.

A third crewmate who opposes Kerry flatly accuses him of lying about Cambodia.

"Never happened," Steve Gardner told the Globe, insisting they never came within 50 miles of the Cambodian border.

Seared into his mind... Don't go here Kerry lover. Dooty commander extraordinaire.

And the Globe edited them for him.

Nothing he claims has ever been proven. Thus, the SF 180, which should be PUBLIC record and subject to FOIA after he released them, is NOT. Have you seen the complete original, or unedited copies?

You are ignorant. You have no idea about military records either, because signing the SF 180 would permit the release of his SERVICE RECORDS, which denote even the smallest detail of his SERVICE RECORDS, such as leave earned and leave taken, commendations, positive and negative performance grading.... As I said in the post you are ignorant of of what the document authorizes.

Was he in Cambodia? Seared in his mind, but not mentioned in his service record, or he would have released them. Notice no claim to "still secret" in favor of National Security.

The person who spoke out for Kerry and introduced him at the 2004 convention, Wade Sanders, has had his silver star taken away for lying about Kerry's service and faces prison time on a child pornography charge. Kerry was and is a liar and as they say "birds of a feather flock together." Kerry and Sanders, a match made in heaven.

The article trashing Bachmann was the topic and all the posting is about a has-been John, I served in Viet Nam, with the french looking hair cut, Kerry. For some reason the MSM has been laying off Sarah Palin, so it is only natural that they will attack Michele Bachmann. The two ladies scare the crap out of the libs and their minions.

I love that the 'embellished' gay suicide record of high schoolers is investigated as a part of National campaign information the public must know. Gee, I wonder how all those Democrat-led American cities have been making out? Oh yeah, that's Bush's fault too.

One of the left-wing journos on the Tucson weekly give-away referred to something as Michelle Bachmann-stupid. I think Barack (57 states) Obams-stupid, or Joe (take your pick) Biden-stupid or Sheila Jackson Lee- and/or Black Congressional Caucus-stupid would be more apt.
