Bachmann: Media Trying to Provoke 'Mud Wrestling Fight' Between Her and Palin

By Aubrey Vaughan | June 29, 2011 | 23:32

Change font size:  A |  A

Rep. Michele Bachmann told potential voters on Wednesday that the media "want to see two girls come together and have a mud wrestling fight. And I’m not going to give it to ‘em," referring to the media's treatment of herself and her possible 2012 opponent, former Gov. Sarah Palin.

With Bachmann's entry into the race this week, there are already a number of comparisons being drawn between Bachmann's relationship with the press and Palin's historically rocky relationship with it. Much like the media have repeatedly pounced on Palin for misstatements while ignoring Obama's misstatements, they are repeating the same vicious tactics with Bachmann while continuing to ignore Obama's flubs.

Bachmann added to her audience, "I have great respect and admiration for the Governor," emphasizing that the main goal to keep in mind is beating President Barack Obama with the best Republican candidate possible.

While Palin has yet to officially decide whether or not she is going to jump into the race, she was also in Iowa this week for the premiere of her biographical film, 'The Undefeated.' Her response to the vitrol spewed by the media and celebrities depicted in the movie was simply, "What would make someone be so full of hate?"

Even a top aide to House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, Stacy Kerr Wooters, acknowledges the media bias against these conservative women. She tweeted, "Bachmann - she'd never get my vote, but she has my ire at how media is treating her. they'd [sic] never treat a man like this week of announcement."

Bachmann downplayed the idea that any tension exists between herself and Palin, placing importance on her statement that the "race is wide open and we can accommodate all the candidates who want to come in."

The hatred

Submitted by Kuso Jiji on Wed, 06/29/2011 - 11:57pm.

Leftist hatred of conservative women is easy to explain. It would kill them if the first woman president was a Republican. This is Hillary's mob and they will stop at nothing to protect what they think is the Democrats rightful place in American history. Its time to shut these damn people up. Bachmann 2012.

Bachmann needs to soldier on

Submitted by Van Halen on Thu, 06/30/2011 - 1:19am.

Bachmann needs to soldier on and hammer - endlessly hammer - Obama's horrific failures these last three years:

- $14 trillion deficit
- ruined economy

- gas/food/clothing prices skyrocketing
- 5 wars, one with a record death toll
- foreign policy disasters

- raiding the public pension fund to avoid the debt ceiling

- lost 800+ seats for his own party

- poll numbers in the toilet

- 44 million Americans on food stamps

- 1 in 4 mortgages under water

- ATF gunrunning scandal unfolding
- record number of golf games played by a President

Unfortunately, the demeaning "Are you a flake?" question asked

Submitted by Rush Fan on Thu, 06/30/2011 - 2:42am.

by a supposedly credible and professional journalist may be the straw that broke the camel's back. It appears that Conservative women can't be treated with respect by the media, regardless of the media's political leanings.

Rush Fan, I listened to the

Submitted by motherbelt on Thu, 06/30/2011 - 7:02am.

Rush Fan, I listened to the Levin comments, and he made a point that no one else has: Wallace pretty much dismissed everything Bachmann said about her experience, and agreed that well, sure, those were all important accomplishments, and it was "important" to say that,

BUT

did she understand that she now had to be careful and not say what some regard as "flaky" things?

For those who want to hear just that relevant point at the end, it starts right after the 13.00 mark.

accomplishments, since he was focused on fulfilling only two agenda items: pinning the flake tag on her, and showing his friends in the media that he wasn't in the tank for Republicans.

As for the 'flaky' things she has said, the media, as you know, has always attempted to pin a disparaging label on conservatives, especially conservative women. With Sarah Palin it was uninformed and stupid. With Michelle Bachmann, it is that she says flaky things; hence, she is a flake. But is she really a flake?

Not withstanding Chris Wallace's disparaging questions, has Michelle Bachmann said more 'flaky' things than Barack Obama?   In reality, Barack Obama has far exceeded Bachmann, Palin, or anyone on the right in the number of gaffes and flaky comments.

The proof is in the pudding. MinneMike put together a list of some of Obama's gaffes and flaky comments. Compare those with any gaffes that Michelle Bachmann has made, and it is clear that Obama wins by a mile. Moreover, that doesn't include all the lies and half truths Obama has said.

As I stated in a previous post Conservative women, such as Michelle Bachmann, have a dilemma. If they can't be treated with respect by the liberal media, and they can't be treated with respect by the "fair and balanced" media, what media can they turn to be treated with respect?

Congresswoman Bachmann takes

Submitted by jdhawk on Thu, 06/30/2011 - 2:26am.

Congresswoman Bachmann takes it right back to the liberal media everytime she is interviewed. When asked a stupid question completely unrelated to her position on the issues, she fires right back with who she is, where she came from, why duhbama shouldn't be elected for a 2d term, and how she would make a better president.

After a week of scrutiny, she was able to do the above. What may follow is little or no interviews of her in the future while continued sniping of her from afar.

The difference here is that I don't think that she will let the liberal media get away with it.

Governor Palin has taught Republicans and especially Republican women what to do and not do. She took a lot of arrows to stake out conservative positions. While I don't think she will run, she will be invaluable in the background helping candidates get elected like she did in 2010.

If we manage to elect a Republican to the presidency, she will be given a choice job in any administration.

I Still Want To Know...

I still want to know one thing: When will these buzzards start asking Obama these questions or referring to his many stupid gaffs? Answer: When the Cubs win the world series!

When Michelle Bachmann said that the media want to see her in a "mud wrestling fight" between two females, I believe she meant Obama and Bachmann, not Palin and Bachmann. :-)

The libs cant resist ripping into ANY Republican, or conservative woman in general! People probably thought Palins attacks were justified, cause the left and the MSM said shes a moron, so she must be, right? But NOW, Its Bachmanns turn, and,,well, she must be an idiot, too, right? Cause no Demoncrap can be, so,,its the same ol song with these jerks, and thats what they are! Get off the phone, you big jerk! Remember when Mark used to say that, or that he used to take phone calls?
