That's right -- if you've been seeing Obama's ads accusing McCain of cutting Medicare benefits to pay for his health care plan, you're not alone.
The Post awarded an Obama ad called "Your Golden Years" three Pinocchios for its "significant factual errors." It even gave the source of Obama's numbers: "How did the Obama campaign come up with the claim of an $800 billion cut in Medicare (described in another Obama ad as an $882 billion cut)? Answer: some back-of-the-envelope calculations by a liberal think tank, the Center for American Progress.”
CBS's Wyatt Andrews also explained the facts, pointing out that Obama has claimed he'll deliver similar savings to fund his own programs.
"This is a whole different concept from what Obama is claiming: ‘drastic cuts’ in actual health care benefits delivered to seniors," Andrews said. "Not to mention that Obama himself proposes every single item from the list of Medicare savings above, with the exception of Medicare Part D reform.”
Andrews previously fact-checked Obama’s claim that McCain wants to tax people’s health benefits, explaining that most people would receive a tax cut with the McCain tax credit for health insurance.

Now, the question that remains: is not Obama's negative fear mongering - that of lying to seniors (this Medicare bit, and on SS few weeks back) for the purpose of putting fear into the souls of the elderly if they vote for McCain, and that of lying straight out to Joe the Plumber (no Senator Obama, middle and lower class workers did received a bevy of tax cuts and breaks and rebates during the Bush years - Obama stated to Joe, they received "no breaks") - a clear indication that it is Obama who is running a mean angry campaign - not the other party which the MSM has tagged the guilty one? Now that CBS and the WaPost seem to see who's putting fear and anger into the campaign, should we not expect to see those stories in the news? (;~/ Gary

The obama camp has been running a mean, angry, decietful campaign all along and the media covers for obama. Thank goodness for sites like NB!!

If NewsBusters points to an incident when the media is more fair and balanced, it shows that they don't see bias in everything - which is getting harder and harder from what I've seen.

The purpose of this site is and always was to spotlight the media's bad reporting and outright lies when they occur. If you'd spent any time here you'd also know that this site also gives a hat tip to known liberal media when they "get it right", such as now. That's the "whole point of this site", not just to bash one side or the other.
