CNBC Anchor's 11-Year-Old Daughter Celebrates Capitalism in New Book

In a moment of respite from its typically liberal proclivities, MSNBC's "Morning Joe" tuned in to "Squawk Box" on May 12 to chat with the 11-year-old daughter of a CNBC anchor who co-authored a book about "defending our kids from the liberal assault on capitalism."

"Although I am an environmentalist, in this argument I support the business side," wrote Blake Kernen, daughter of CNBC's Joe Kernen, in response to a question on a homework assignment that Blake said was biased against the free market. "I agree that limiting the amount of emissions a company can release would hurt a business ... If a company was told to limit its production, it would make less goods, reducing the money it makes. If a company cannot make money, it cannot employ a lot of workers!"

[Video embedded after the page break.]

Elaborating on the reasoned position she took in class, Blake added: "Actually, when you really think about, what if they're making a life-saving pill? You make them shut down the factory for emissions. I love the environment, I think it's amazing, but business is very important."

The book, "Your Teacher Said What?!," is described as showing "that American culture is now so hostile to free markets that even animated movies are hard to tell from propaganda."

A breath of fresh air

It is very nice to see this on MSNBC especially. The book "Your Teacher Said What?!" is an important step in snatching our educational system out of the hands of the leftists. Anyone contributing to this effort needs to be loudly and widely praised.

I can't help but think that the Soros network is going to give the folks at MSNBC and Morning Joe a reprimand for exposing anti-capitalist indoctrination. -bidn-

Even a 12-year-old gets it!

But apparently our senators don't.

In the car earlier I heard Rush playing excerpts from the Oil company hearings.

I wish I could remember who the idiot senator was; I think it was Rockefeller, but I'm not sure. Asked an exec if he believed in "shared sacrifice."  Answer:  No, I believe in shared prosperity!

Idiot's retort:  We can't get to shared prosperity without first having shared sacrifice!!

You really can't make this stuff up.

Some "on-the-ball" poster mentioned this exchange on a previous post in NewsBusters.  (Just do a word search on "prosperity".)

This made my year!!!

Submitted by Newsbubba on Thu, 05/12/2011 - 4:41pm.

Yo, Obama!  Are you smarter than a sixth grader?

I love this kid.  She and her generation will do great in the world if there is anything left for them.

Darling, I love the environment, too.  It IS a "beautiful thing."  It will take care of itself for the most part.  It has for millions of years.

Unfortunately our economy, our country, and our freedom can't take care of themselves.  It will take people like you to do it.

How does it feel to know that you are wiser now at 11 than most of the politicians in Washington, especially our President?

Comrade Bubba

Looks like the pendulum swung

Submitted by amyshulk on Thu, 05/12/2011 - 7:53pm.

Looks like the pendulum swung too far again, and critical thinking is on the rebound! Kudos Blake. And to Dad Joe too. Mika's face when confronted with a child telling her what R's {and MJ's Joe} have been *trying* to tell her was priceless.

The government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

Sharp Kid

When I first saw the headline, I thought, "Oh, no - shades of Amy Carter and nuclear proliferation". But, dang, this little girl is very economically astute. Put her on when Rick Santelli is on vacation. :)

What class was this?!?

Submitted by Dave81 on Thu, 05/12/2011 - 9:33pm.

What class has 11-year olds arguing about capitalism vs. environmentalism?? Good grief, talk about indoctrination at an early age! Good for Blake for seeing through the smoke and speaking up for reason.

jaw,

Submitted by Chris Norman on Fri, 05/13/2011 - 1:36am.

I haven't watched CNBC much in the past few years. When I did, I was never sure if Kernen was a liberal or a conservative or how pro or anti business he was. I guess that's how it should be. I do know that I can't stand Mark Haines - he's the Bob Beckel of business news.
