You see Brit, the "us" in that is moveon.org and liberals in general. So yes, by wanting my country, the United States of America, to succeed in Iraq and in the war against Islamic facism, I did betray those who are against that success.
To piggyback on that, I thought a brilliant slant was introduced the Jim Lehrer show last night (PBS) where the reporter talked about one question Petraeus couldn't answer from a senator: "General, will succeeding in Iraq make America safer?" The General's answer was something like, "You know, I can't really answer that. I've been focused on my mission that I've been given."
Neither the senator nor the reporter seemed to have any inkling that it isn't a theater commander's job to determine policies, or to contemplate the foreign policy implications of war outcomes, but to do a mission and do it well. Duh. He hasn't been asked to make America safer however he can do that, but do fight a specific war. Let the policy wonks figure out how that makes us safer, but it's a dumb question for Petraeus.
Look at Gen. David Petraeus eyes, he is pretty discusseded with that advertisment. Honestly I am assamed how much ALL of the media has shown of it. Just more free add for those fruit cakes.
He needs our support, these guys are under way to much pressure, the more we apply the more WILL die. Let these guys work, they are Americans, they know what they are doing, they are us, give these folks all the help you can. GBTUSA

This ad hurts moveon.org, not the General or the Republicans, and therefore it effectively hurts the Democrats. It's very strange.
It's almost as if they've been infiltrated at "moveon" by some really-smart conservative who said to himself/herself, "let's see how weird I can get them to go," and subsequently was amazed with his/her success. Hmmm, John Kerry won numerous medals fighting for his country in Vietnam but the G.O.P. chose to humiliate him with lies and distortions. What about John McCain? Here is a man that was a P.O.W. but only to be humiliated with lies and distortions when he was up against the G.O.P's choice of "Dubbya". What about Murtha? Here was a distinguished gentleman from the military that is still harassed to this day for having a different opinion of the War (occupation). Should I make a list of how "swell" the Repiglican party treats military leaders? As if the evidence of pure cowardice wasn't enough (i.e. Bush and Cheney's "avoiding" service.) Yeah, they still can't find the documents to show Bush ever showed up. What a crock. The way General Wesley Clark was treated was enough to make a "true" veteran sick.

Both of these men used their military backgrounds to bolster their own careers at the expense and detriment of their comrades and those brave men and women who fight now. That makes them even more heinous.
John McCain's service and imprisonment and tremendous bravery are admired and looked up to by all of us here. However, we have issues with McCain/Feingold and how it impinges free speech and with his wishy-washy border and immigration positions. We have nothing but love and admiration for the man otherwise, we just don't think illegals should get amnesty or citizenship. That's hardly going after his military service.
Can't trust liberals, on everything, never mind national security. On that topic, we might as well hand over the keys to al-Queda right now. God help us if any of those Democrat candidates gets in.
