On the 17 April 2015 edition of NBC Nightly News, Peter Alexander hinted that the Republican Party's internal battles over conservative principles caused its losses in the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections. Alexander asked former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, "How are you going to help the party overcome the ideological problems that, sort of, torpedoed it in 2008 and 2012?"

Jon Stewart launched a rant against the news media on the 15 April 2015 edition of Comedy Central's The Daily Show for their mad dash after Hillary Clinton's "Scooby Van" as it arrived at a recent campaign stop in Iowa. Stewart mocked the running journalists, and likened them to five-year-olds chasing after an ice cream truck.
