Instead, it was left to a competitor, Fox News, to highlight Karl's battle with Earnest. On Friday's On the Record, Greta Van Susteren played a clip of the two.

While ABC and NBC had appropriately moved on from their over-the-top gushing of Chelsea Clinton’s baby, CBS felt the need to continue to obsess over the announcement on Monday’s CBS This Morning. Reporter Bill Plante offered up a healthy dose of Clinton cheerleading when he proclaimed the baby to be the “newest member of a family of political royalty. Last week, an Oklahoma man who recently converted to Islam, went on a violent stabbing spree at his former workplace, including beheading a coworker, but MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry was quick to dismiss his religion as being a factor in the killing. Appearing on her self-titled show on Saturday morning, Harris-Perry insisted that “it is a story that I read as a workplace violence story” and then proceeded to condemn any references to his Islamic faith when discussing the crime.

Attorney General Eric Holder resigned this week after six years working for the Obama Administration and on Sunday morning ABC’s Matthew Dowd eagerly scolded Republicans for being “way too vociferous in their things about Eric Holder.” The so-called Republican dismissed the notion that Holder was “the worst attorney general we’ve ever had” and proceeded to drag Edwin Meese, Attorney General for President Reagan, through the mud by insisting he was much worse than the scandal plagued Obama official.

NBC and CBS on Thursday made exceptions, but only to highlight GOP struggles and embarrassments. Awkward, uncomfortable examples involving Democrats have been either ignored or severely minimized.
