After being graduated from Humboldt State University with honors in journalism in 1985, I launched my career as the business editor of a now-defunct weekly.
Within a short time, I became editor of a nearby weekly, where I dramatically increased that newspaper’s circulation.
I then changed careers by becoming the general manager for a recycling and garbage company.
While there, I remained active in journalism by being a morning news anchor for a local radio station and helping another local weekly when the editor needed time off.
Eventually, I came back to journalism having accomplished some significant achievements at the garbage company in terms of expanding its services as well as its profits.
Before my last job in journalism as the managing editor of a now-defunct daily newspaper, I was a radio news director.
Currently, I’m unemployed and a bit nervous about our economy as jobs are difficult to find, especially in rural areas where I live.
I'm very happily married to my angelic wife, Kathleen. My wife and I have seven children between us and many grandchildren.
