An Update

Hey NBers. I know there's been some unrest here in the forums regarding the new site and the lack of communication with staff. Apologies if it seems we've been unresponsive. Here's some info on where we stand and how you can help out with some beta testing.
The bottom line is that we were screwed by a vendor. The product we were given was not the product we requested - aesthetically or functionally. The upgrade took far longer than it should have, and encountered problems that were easily avoidable. And even after the new site went live, NB staffers were contractually forbidden from making many of the changes we knew needed to be made until the vendor was completely finished with the site (which itself took far longer than it should have). Believe it or not, we are still waiting to regain full control over some of the site's functions.
That said, we have been doing some work behind the scenes in anticipation of getting the keys back. To that end, you are all invited to do some beta test work for our initial revision to this new design.
To do so, you will need to use either Firefox or Google Chrome. To start, download the Stylish add-on. You can find the Firefox version here and the Chrome version here. Once installed, click "add new style" and paste in the code below. One you do you will be able to see some the changes we will be implementing. Keep in mind that we are nowhere near finished revising this site design. We have a long list of other changes still to be made. This is just to give you a rough idea of what the site layout will look like after we are able to really get to work on it.
Thank you all for your patience in this transition. I know it's been frustrating - for us too, believe me. I just wanted to reassure everyone that we have been hearing your concerns and that we plan on addressing as many of them as we can as quickly as we can.
Lachlan

} Maybe cause I use a Mac, so I used this instead. I simply never received a box to upload the above code?
So it looks a little better. loads a little faster, but it still jumps to the bottom of the page? And links within pages always go to the bottom as well. Irritating, if I were in charge, this would get fixed first.
To do so, you will need to use either Firefox or Google Chrome.
The Vet is an old MSCI+I certified professional guy that has his MSCE number tattooed on his butt. The Vet is not happy and will notify the Microsoft Who's Who as to this grievous sleight. In the upcoming MS-goog battle for world domination, The Vet will remember this and will treat you lowly non-MS certified professional numbered peoples very poorly.
Oh who's kidding, the googs are gonna kick our butt. Please toss The Vet some loose change when he is begging on the street after the war.
Sorry assed scumbags!
You must had hired a group of libtards and lawyers?
Sounds great, but when I change the page style (with new code) everything gets wacked out. Huge fonts in comments/posts and tiny fonts on the right. Borders still the same... sigh. I installed the Stylish add-on and inserted the code and named it NB 2.0 but it's not working on my FF for some odd reason, maybe it's the wide screen monitor, dunno. : (
Mine did that too at first. I think that's what caused it was that I'd changed the font size in my FF settings a couple of months ago because the NB one was so tiny. I went in and reset it, no more problem.
/usr/bin/perl -X
while ($newsbusters.org =~ /Royally Sucks/i) {
load(www.teamsarah.org);
load(www.facebook.org);
load(www.Brietbart.com);
}
print "Oh, it's fixed now? Isn't 90% of the New material stuff we can already find at the Brietbart \"Big\" sites? \n";
print "And don't even get me started on that &%$#@! RINO supporter Kathryn Jean Lopez . . . \n";
Wow. Moves alot faster.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE losing all of the social media icons over the Comments/New Comments links. Fandamntastic!
Thank you for my wide view back in Blog View.
Top of your fix list, I think, is still to put the * in front of NEW comments.
I used the Firefox upgrade....easy as pie to install.
Oh yeah, it fixed the jump to last comment as well, which is nice. I kept going back to IE because at least IE jumped to new comments, but after about 25 moves, would lock up from all of the scripts running.
Looks good? And Firefox -- easy to install? Even for me, the Lucy Ball of computer mishaps? If I try this, I just don't want to end up with purple zebras all over my screen. ^_^
Hit the Chat Room and I'll walk you through it.
Thanks! I shall go there now and see if you're around...the computer-helpless need help!
I tried to catch you on chat -- left you a message. Sorry about that -- I logged off right after my last message.
I am logging off again for now but will try to catch up with you again tonight on chat! Thanks!:) I'm sorry you waited on me. :(
Well, thanks to you encouraging me and hubby rescuing me from another computer mishap, success was achieved!
This IS better. I like the speed most of all. :) Sorry I messed up your chat time. I will catch ya'll again soon in chat -- still digging out from too much going on here!
:)
See....patience pays.
Thanks, Lachlan, and the rest of our intrepid NB techno-geeks, we know this has been alot more painful for you than for us, alas.
And the stories and threads are nice and wide. Everyone go follow those forum instructions right now, the difference is remarkable. It's almost back to "normal".
Phew.
I really appreciate it I know I don't speak for everyone, but I know I speak for alot of people when I ask, why you didn't let us know this earlier. I know the majority of us would have been more patient and complained less if we knew the issues you had to deal with. In no way am I saying you are obligated to do it, but it would have been a nice gesture.
Thank you again for the update, I can't wait to go home and check out the add on.
Edit
Sorry Bru, I meant this as a regular post in the forum and not a reply to your post.
Edit 2
Wow just installed the updates. Looks much nicer than before
Just a thought, but I'd imagine it had to do with legal issues, since it appears that there were serious vendor problems.
We all know how difficult that can be, and putting that info into the public domain probably wouldn't have helped.
Just this new FF format makes a world of difference, love the wide screen!
I'm sorry I am not sure what you mean with free. Was this post meant for freestinker who also posted on the bottom or "free" as in stop complaining shawn this is not costing you any money ;-)
I along with many others love this website. I'm just saying with all the comments many regulars have posted in the internal affairs section about the issues they were having or questions about what features we would have back, it would have been nice for some feedback.
As far as legal issues go. I know, I would have been satisfied with a post from the powers at be that simply said, we hear what you guys are saying but we cannot comment on it at this time.
No matter what NB is million times better than the KOSacks no matter how many bugs :-)
Apparently all has not been fixed, because I replied to Free, below...but it popped up under your comment. So of course it was totally nonsensical! Who knows where this post will end up?
You just have to laugh.
But things will be getting better, of that I am sure. :)
