Norris Column: Soros and Obama vs. Sheriff Joe Arpaio

By Chuck Norris | April 24, 2012 | 18:14

For many, the term "sheriff" conjures up images of the Old West. A few may consider a sheriff to have some form of outdated and obsolete political office. But for me and countless other patriots across our nation, a sheriff is the epitome of good and necessary county law enforcement.

As documented on the Durham County, N.C., website, the position of sheriff originated in England more than 1,000 years ago, known then as a shire-reeve, who was "the steward of the King's estates, guardian of the peace, judge and jury of the Shire County (county court) and was the local agent of the King in military affairs. The King also appointed him as the Chief Police Magistrate."

Examiner Fails to Note Soros’ Funding of Voter ID Controversy

By Mike Ciandella | April 05, 2012 | 10:19

Paul Bedard of the Washington Examiner wrote a piece entitled “Democrats boycott Coke, Walmart over voter ID laws” on April 4. The piece reported the situation well, with one exception: it didn’t mention that one side of the voter identification debate is almost completely fought by Soros-backed organizations.

The focus of the article was on a push by Color of Change, the Center for American Progress and democratic lawmakers to boycott Walmart, Coca Cola and other companies who financially contribute to one of the new voter ID laws’ biggest supporters: the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). ALEC, as Bedard pointed out, is also supported by Koch Industries.

Religion of Liberalism: Washington Post's 'On Faith' Blog

By Paul Wilson | March 12, 2012 | 11:31

The Washington Post’s “On Faith” blog network bills itself as “a conversation on religion and politics.” But the conversation of “On Faith” more accurately resembles a diatribe justifying liberal politics with religious imagery.

During this past week, Becky Garrison claimed that Christian actor Kirk Cameron was not a Christian because he opposes homosexual marriage, and Lisa Miller declared that “In churches across the land, women are still treated as second class citizens.”

Lefty Professor Sachs Hates Being Called Out On Adelson-Soros Double Standard

By Mark Finkelstein | February 22, 2012 | 09:42

Sometimes, an image says it all.  Check out the screengrab after the jump of Jeffrey Sachs.  The lefty professor is unabashedly angry at Joe Scarborough.

Why? Because the Morning Joe host called him out on his egregious double-standard. Sachs had labeled Republican Super PAC funder Sheldon Adelson "completely unlikable" and said he shouldn't be involved in American politics. But when Scarborough asked whose approach he prefers: Adelson's--who gives openly in his own name--or George Soros's--who funnels his money through myriad corporations to hide his influence--Sachs suddenly claimed he wasn't attacking one side or the other. Righhht.  Video after the jump.

Soros-Funded Group Admits Lying to Acquire Heartland Climate Documents

By Iris Somberg | February 21, 2012 | 12:57

Head of the George Soros-funded Pacific Institute admitted to releasing documents from the Heartland Institute that he falsely obtained. The group’s sleazy attack was then promoted by liberal bloggers and quickly gained steam. The story was picked up by the New York Times, Politico and other media outlets.

Pacific Institute, the group that lied in order to obtain the documents, received $275,000 from Soros’s Open Society Foundations since 2006. This vicious attack by the left resulted in the release of information on the Heartland Institute’s fundraising strategy, budget, and plans to combat global warming alarmism.

Zakaria Asks Soros if Republicans 'Want the Economy to Stay Weak in an Election Year'

By Noel Sheppard | February 12, 2012 | 17:17

As NewsBusters reported earlier, CNN's Fareed Zakaria on Sunday was in full Barack Obama campaign mode.

Before asking guest George Soros if he was going to create a Super PAC to help the current White House resident, Zakaria questioned the billionaire about whether or not Republicans "want the economy to stay weak in an election year" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Fareed Zakaria Asks George Soros 'Will You Create a Super PAC to Help President Obama?'

By Noel Sheppard | February 12, 2012 | 12:39

As hard as it may be to believe, CNN's Fareed Zakaria on Sunday actually tried to raise money for the reelection of the current White House resident.

Speaking with billionaire George Soros on the program bearing his name, Zakaria asked, "Will you create a Super PAC to help President Obama?" (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

CBS's Rose Scolds Newt: 'Why Are Drudge and Ann Coulter Attacking You?'

By Matthew Balan | January 30, 2012 | 16:19

On Monday's CBS This Morning, Charlie Rose hammered Newt Gingrich on the issue of the opposition his presidential campaign was receiving from some prominent conservatives: "Why are so many conservatives, including...Drudge and Ann Coulter, attacking you?" Rose also spotlighted how apparently "there are those who say that you [Gingrich] are angry and you want to get even with Romney."

The anchor started relentlessly pursued Gingrich not long after he began the interview. He asked the Drudge and "get even" questions in quick succession after getting the former House Speaker to reply to a recent comment from opponent Mitt Romney. Later, the CBS journalist pounced when the Georgia Republican raised what George Soros said recently, that "there isn't all that much difference" between President Obama and Romney [audio clip available here; video below the jump]:

WashPost Highlights Assisted Suicide on Anniversary of Roe v. Wade

By Paul Wilson | January 23, 2012 | 16:40

On the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Washington Post Magazine attacked conservative pro-life values on another front - by profiling the new "public face of American assisted suicide," Lawrence Egbert.

On January 22, the Washington Post Magazine's Manuel Roig-Franzia wrote a long profile of Lawrence Egbert, the former director of the Final Exit Network, who by his own admission has been present at 100 peoples' suicides, and "was responsible for signing off on all suicides" for the Final Exit Network.

Bill Moyers: George Soros 'Has Been the Victim of Glenn Beck' and 'Fox News Assassins'

By Noel Sheppard | January 14, 2012 | 10:52

To give you an idea just how perilously liberal Bill Moyers is, in a media discussion with Arianna Huffington Friday, he actually sung the praises of America-hating billionaire George Soros.

Not only that, Moyers also claimed Soros "has been the victim, of course, of Glenn Beck and the right-wing, the Fox News assassins" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Chris Christie Texts Scarborough: Who's Next on Morning Joe to Discuss GOP Race - George Soros?

By Noel Sheppard | December 12, 2011 | 10:45

Chris Christie on Monday perfectly illustrated the beef conservatives have with MSNBC's Morning Joe and its host.

Apparently fed up with the show's parade of liberal guests, New Jersey's Republican governor texted Joe Scarborough in the middle of the program, "Who's next this morning on Morning Joe to talk about the GOP race - George Soros?" (video follows with commentary):

NYT: Still No Leftist Labels for George Soros in Gushing Piece on His 'Generous Philanthropy'

By Clay Waters | December 08, 2011 | 10:06

New York Times reporter Stephanie Strom, who tracks foundation and charitable giving for the Times, gushed over George Soros in a story Wednesday on the new leader of “his unconventional philanthropic empire”: “Criminal Justice Expert Expected to Lead Soros Foundations.”

Through his Open Society Institute, Soros has invested heavily in left-wing groups Moveon.org and the Center for American Progress. Although his philanthropy and fierce rhetoric and political activism clearly mark the billionaire moneyman on the left, Strom is averse to putting an ideological label on Soros in her coverage.

The Secrets of Soros, Obama, Occupiers and the MSM (Part 3)

By Chuck Norris | November 29, 2011 | 13:30

In Part 1, I discussed how the mainstream media, billionaire progressives such as George Soros, the White House and even the Occupy movement are in cahoots with one another.

In Part 2, I discussed the MSM's maneuvering to coronate their choice for the GOP presidential nomination, Soros' covert investments in the 2012 presidential election, and Agenda 21's relation to progressivism and the Occupy movement.

Just in Time for Thanksgiving, Media Hypes BPA Scare in Canned Food

By Paul Wilson | November 23, 2011 | 14:01

The media are treating Thanksgiving like Halloween by whipping up one of their favorite bogeymen. ABC and NBC are now targeting canned food as potentially harmful to humans, because it contains a chemical that the media has long crusaded against: BPA, otherwise known as bisphenol-A, found in many plastics and packaging products.

A study by the Harvard School of Public Health found that levels of BPA increased greatly in the human body after eating canned food. On Nov 23, ABC's World News and NBC Nightly News both reported on this study - and warned consumers of the potential dangers of eating canned food. NBC's report made sure to include "Hidden Danger" in the background in the beginning of the report.

The Secrets of Soros, Obama, Occupiers and the MSM (Part 2)

By Chuck Norris | November 22, 2011 | 09:55

Last week, I discussed how Occupy protesters are being directly aided by the mainstream media and indirectly aided by White House stimulus money, as well as New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's and even Vice President Joe Biden's households. I also detailed how the mainstream media are accelerating their progressive blitz not only to hasten the second coming, or election, of President Barack Obama but also to help him and other progressives in reaching their final goal of "fundamentally transforming the United States of America."

I believe the MSM are also bent to coronate a particular GOP candidate whom they feel could be beaten most easily by Obama. I believe that candidate is former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, for the sole fact that the powers behind the MSM believe his presidential run would fracture the Republican Party and cause a third-party candidate to run, dividing the conservative vote, just as Ross Perot did in 1992 and 1996.

The Secrets of Soros, Obama, Occupiers and the MSM (Part 1)

By Chuck Norris | November 15, 2011 | 11:27

While Occupy protesters continue to rant in select cities around the country, I'm wondering who is shadier: corporate Wall Street or corporate media?

Of course, there's no surprise or secret in saying that the mainstream media (MSM) are biased. Even when the CBS producer inadvertently sent an anti-Michele Bachmann email to one of her own staff members during last Saturday night's GOP debates, her campaign manager confessed it was another evidence of "what every conservative already knows — the liberal mainstream media elites are manipulating the Republican debates by purposely suppressing our conservative message."

Media Consistently $30 Million Short on Soros Drug Funding

By Iris Somberg | October 31, 2011 | 10:19

George Soros is up to his old tricks again. The “sugar daddy of the legalization movement,” as conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer described him, has given more than $31 million to the Drug Policy Alliance, which will host its biennial convention Nov. 2-5 in California to build support for the drug legalization movement. But when the media mention DPA, they either fail to note the Soros connection or fall $30 million short on how much he funded them.

Media coverage of DPA has left out Soros’s influence with the group. In the past two years, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, and USA Today referenced DPA 58 times. Only 7 percent (4 of 58) of those stories labeled Soros as a backer of the organization. In those rare times he was mentioned, his contribution was never described as more than $1 million, again $30 million shy of his total donations for the past 10 years.

If Occupy Wall Street Really Hated Wall Street, They'd Target George Soros

By Ann Coulter | October 20, 2011 | 16:10

The worst thing about Occupy Wall Street is that it's ruining a good cause: hating Wall Street. Just when opposing Wall Street was gaining momentum, these brain-dead zombies are forcing us to choose between thieving bankers and them.

If the Flea Party were really concerned about the greedy "Wall Street 1 Percent," shifting money around to make themselves richer and everyone else poorer, their No. 1 target should be George Soros.

NB Publisher Bozell to Boehner: NPR Ties to 'Occupy Wall Street' Demand Defunding

By Brent Bozell | October 20, 2011 | 14:54

Editor's Note: The following is a quote from a letter NewsBusters publisher and Media Research Center (MRC) founder Brent Bozell sent to Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) earlier today, spurred in part by the recent revelation that NPR host Lisa Simeone served as a spokesperson for the Occupy DC protest.

NPR is out of control, using taxpayer money to lend support to a sometimes violent and lawless mob set on crippling the financial backbone of our country.

$3.6 Million from Soros Backs 'Occupy Wall Street', Media Ignore or Downplay Connection

By Iris Somberg | October 14, 2011 | 09:07

Left-wing financier George Soros is at it again. While he may claim he’s not behind the Occupy Wall Street protests, funding from his foundations says otherwise. Soros threw his support behind the movement at a United Nations panel on Oct. 3, “I can sympathize with their grievances.” But he does more than just sympathize, his foundations funded groups that back the protests and steer their “progressive” message.

Reuters even posed the question “Who’s behind the Wall St. protests?” on Oct. 13, but downplayed Soros’s actual financial involvement. Even though “Soros and the protesters share some ideological ground,” the story added. But Reuters undersold the connection significantly.

Soros-Backed Voting Study Promoted By Soros-Funded Media

By Iris Somberg | October 06, 2011 | 09:36

Once again the media is completely ignoring the fact that an initiative it’s covering was funded by left-wing financier George Soros. The Soros-funded Brennan Center for Justice released a report opposed to new laws needed to combat voter fraud. This story was in turn promoted by Soros-funded progressive news sites that brought it to the national stage.

The Brennan Center for Justice, part of New York University’s Law School, reported that voting law changes “could make it significantly harder for more than five million eligible voters to cast ballots in 2012.” This 64 page report went on to explain that the effects “fall most heavily on young, minority, and low-income voters, as well as on voters with disabilities” and that the “wave of changes may sharply tilt the political terrain for the 2012 election.”

Soros-Funded Group Behind Course for Journalists That Downplays ‘Jihad’

By Iris Somberg | September 29, 2011 | 10:04

A new course on Islam designed for journalists tries to minimize the impact and importance of “jihad” by comparing it to the number of murders in America each year. That same course claims “right-wing activists” tried to tie American Muslims to terrorism and doesn’t mention examples of Islamic attacks on press freedom.

That’s the way a prominent news organization is teaching journalists in a three-hour online course. The Poynter News University, part of the Poynter Institute, launched the free course “Covering Islam in America” to guide the media on their coverage of Muslim communities.

NPR Marks 9/11 By Hyping Counterterrorism's 'Disruption of Innocent Lives'

By Matthew Balan | September 01, 2011 | 19:06

On Wednesday, NPR strongly hinted that they would bring their liberal bias into their special programming for the tenth anniversary of 9/11. Their planned reports on the mass atrocity includes an investigation which scrutinizes the efforts of private firms guarding soft targets like sports arenas: "[The] investigation...suggests that these kinds of programs are disrupting innocent people's lives."

An August 30, 2011 press release on the public-funded network's website stated that "it has been said that America would never be the same after terrorist attacks took nearly 3,000 lives on September 11, 2001. A decade since the tragedy, how have the attacks affected people's lives and shaped America's collective outlook and future? Beginning September 5, NPR News offers a week of reports looking back at the events leading up to 9/11 and reflecting on the ways it continues to impact the nation."

George Soros, Media Mogul: Executive Summary

By Dan Gainor and ... | August 17, 2011 | 11:23

George Soros is arguably the most influential liberal financier in the United States, donating more than $8 billion just to his Open Society Foundations. In 2004, he spent more than $27 million to defeat President George W. Bush and has given away millions more since to promote the left-wing agenda. But what goes almost without notice is Soros' extensive influence on and involvement with the media.

Since 2003, Soros has donated more than $52 million to all kinds of media outlets - liberal news organizations, investigative reporting and even smaller blogs. He has also been involved in funding the infrastructure of supposedly "neutral" news, from education to even the industry ombudsman association. Many other operations Soros supports also have a media component to what they do.

Ex-Girlfriend Accuses Leftist Billionaire Soros of Violence; NBC Carries Story But Omits His Politics

By Scott Whitlock | August 12, 2011 | 14:57

NBC's Today show on Friday managed to avoid any ideological labels for a story on violence charges against the very liberal George Soros. Instead, reporter Mike Taibbi simply described him as "rich." In contrast, Good Morning America identified Soros as "liberal."

Both Today and ABC's GMA covered the allegations of Adriana Ferreyr, Soros' 28-year-old ex-girlfriend who is claiming that the left-wing billionaire attacked her and reneged on an offer to purchase an apartment. Yet, Taibbi never mentioned the ideology of Soros or the millions of dollars he's given to left-wing causes.

Soros-Funded Media Toe Liberal Line in Debt Coverage

By Iris Somberg | August 10, 2011 | 11:42

Coverage of the debt battle and ratings downgrade by Soros-funded media outlets followed the standard liberal line. Conservatives are blamed for blocking tax hikes, the ratings agency itself is called unreliable, and increased financial regulations are called for.

Forget the House proposal of Cut Cap and Balance. Further spending cuts aren't even given the time of day among top Soros-funded news sites, unless they are being criticized. Increased taxes are the only option in their world.

Obama's Exclusive George Soros Waivers

By Michelle Malkin | July 29, 2011 | 14:58

"Millionaires and billionaires," President Obama says derisively, must make more "sacrifices" and live by the same rules the rest of America lives by. But there are seven little words that will never appear on the White House teleprompter: "And that means you, too, George Soros."

For all his (and his wife's) bashing of greedy Wall Street hedge-fund managers, Obama has shown nothing but love to the world's most famous hedge-fund mogul. The feeling is mutual and deep(-pocketed).

Glass Houses: Soros-Funded Alternet Accuses GOP of 'Treason'

By Matthew Philbin | July 21, 2011 | 13:46

Usually, it's easy to dismiss the moonbat ravings of the far left. But when liberals, always ready to indignantly accuse conservatives of "questioning my patriotism," start suggesting their political opponents are "committing treason," the hypocrisy merits notice. Doubly so when the allegation of treason is made on a website that takes money from George Soros.

In a July 20 column on Alternet, Cliff Schecter, "president of Libertas, LLC, a progressive public relations firm," joined the echo chamber of liberals lamenting that the Republican Party had become radicalized by "the forces of the anti-American, gun-toting, religious and corporate Right that have taken over the GOP."

MRC’s Dan Gainor Exposes Latest Soros Funded Media on ‘O’Reilly Factor’
