Andrea Mitchell Conducts Softball Interview with Feminist Pushing FCC to Silence Limbaugh

By Ken Shepherd | March 13, 2012 | 16:58

Andrea Mitchell is no newbie to journalism. In fact, in 2010, she was given the Taishoff Award for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism by the National Press Foundation. She's in good company with Brit Hume and the late Tim Russert among previous recipients of the award. But alas, the MSNBC anchor displayed no "excellence in journalism" with her brief, softball interview today with Robin Morgan of the liberal Women's Media Center.

Mitchell brought Morgan on to discuss her group's petition drive to request the FCC to ban Rush Limbaugh from the airwaves. The WMC's argument is that Limbaugh engages in "hate speech" which is not in the "public interest" and hence cause to push him off the air. Below the page break I've listed in bullet points the questions Mitchell posed to Morgan, which, as you can see, are all softballs meant to advance Morgan's talking points:

Jane Fonda and Gloria Steinem Call for FCC to Ban Rush Limbaugh

By Noel Sheppard | March 10, 2012 | 18:27

The Left's hunt for conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh's head stepped up a notch Saturday when Jane Fonda and Gloria Steinem called for the FCC to ban him.

Radical feminist activist Robin Morgan also participated in penning the anti-free speech piece published by CNN.com:

Hillary Nutcracker: Like a Stepin Fetchit Doll for Obama?

By Tim Graham | March 24, 2008 | 07:23

The front page of Monday's Style section in The Washington Post is dominated by an article on Racism vs. Sexism and Hillary and Barack by reporter DeNeen Brown. It lines up a pile of black and white female leftists to fight with each other, including Gloria Steinem, Kim Gandy, Lani Guinier, and bell hooks (apparently, capital letters are oppressive). None were described with a liberal label (although "feminist" was used). The standout line came from Robin Morgan, who fervently asserted that sexism was so much worse in America today:

"Anything that can be interpreted as racist in the campaign is leapt upon and should be," Morgan says. "Stuff that is blatantly sexist is not leapt upon. It's often ignored, trivialized and laughed away."

Only now has it been highlighted after "women said, 'Excuse me!' Morgan says the attacks on Clinton have ranged from trivialization to outright venom. "The Hillary Clinton nutcracker doll being sold in airports. They would not dare do that with a Stepin Fetchit doll in the image of Senator Obama. And they shouldn't do that and there would be national outrage, and there should be national outrage."
