Renamed forums

I've renamed the forums to have a more logical structure. This forum now is only to be used for complaints, suggestions and other things having to do with NB itself. Please do not post anything else in here.

Presidential Debate Chat

To the Newsbusters Staff:

I realize the Palin-Biden debate chat was slowing down Newsbusters last Thursday, however if the issue is resolved, would it be possible to have a chat Tuesday Evening for the 2nd Presidential Debate?

If last Thursday's turnout is any indication, the Newsbusters Chat is very popular.

An iPhone variation of NB?

Recently I got myself a new toy (ladies: while girls may outgrow the toy stage, boys NEVER do!!!) of late in the form of an iPhone.  The thing is now loaded with tons of music and custom-crafted ringtones derived from some of those songs.  It is truly a wonderful device.  But enough of that...

Anyways, I have noticed that various websites are configured to switch to an iPhone-friendly screen once you hit them with an iPhone.  For instance, I hit cbc.ca on the iPhone and the webpage presented to me was an iPhone-configured page found at http://www.cbc.ca/iphone.  This was merely the first website I ran across that has this feature; there are a few others I have run into.

My question is, though I understand completely that NB and the MRC aren't exactly mints, is there a possibility of NB, or for that matter, the MRC (and its other affiliated websites), setting up webpages that are configured for the iPhone?  It might be pricey/tricky/both, but hey, anything to reach the maximum possible audience, right?

have you ever done THIS?!

You are a handgun owner and/or  you are a gun store owner.

You wanted to sell your gun(s) but weren't having any success.

Since your gun(s) were insured against theft, you decided to leave your (home, apt, gun store) UNLOCKED- in hopes that your weapons would be stolen! You may have even left your burglar alarm system TURNED OFF also!

In fact- your guns WERE stolen when you left your home or store unsecured and YOU COLLECT INSURANCE ON THE STOLEN GUN(s) !

If you have done this- send me an email from an anonymous email account; give as much detail as you like, without identifying yourself.

If you know of someone else who has done the above- send me an email. Maybe you want to "spill the beans" on someone by being specific: name(s), place(s) approx date(s) etc.

If I can document that this ruse is quite common- I intend to send such documentation to insurance companies, police agencies, government officials.....

Presidential and Vice Presidential Debate Chats

Newsbusters Staff;

I would like to request Chats for the September 26 Presidential debate and the October 2 Vice Presidential debate.

Thanks in advance.

Into The Heart Of Darkness, Part 1

Senator Barack Obama has captured the world's attention unlike almost any other political figure of the era in which we live.  However, despite all the theatrics surrounding the candidate and the almost messianic adoration displayed on the part of his followers, very few can possibly tell you what he actually believes other than in "change", which, though sounding like everything you ever dreamed of, can actually consist of the stuff of nightmares.

Discerning Americans caught an early glimpse of what was beneath the facade of intoxicating rhetoric when it became more widely disseminated what Obama's spiritual mentor Jeremiah Wright actually believed and what Obama had to have soaked up philosophically during the formative years of his early adulthood.  Devoted acolytes will respond that his holiness has distanced himself from such racialism.

David Duke made similar claims during the early to mid 90's until falling back into similar patterns of extremist thought.  So if few believed Duke back then, why should we extend the benefit of the doubt to Obama now since a leopard seldom changes its spots?

A Question about Cheney/Armey for NewsBusters

http://publicbroadcasting.net/ndpr/news.newsmain?action=article&ARTICLE_ID=1369631&sectionID=1

"A North Dakota native who served as US House Majority Leader says he was correctly quoted in a new book about Vice President Dick Cheney.

In the book "Angler," Dick Armey was quoted as saying Cheney misled him about Iraq's threat to the United States."

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/washingtonpostinvestigations/2008/09/cheney_misled_gop_leaders_new.html

"Cheney said, according to Armey, that Iraq's "ability to miniaturize weapons of mass destruction, particularly nuclear," had been "substantially refined since the first Gulf War," and would soon result in "packages that could be moved even by ground personnel." Cheney linked that threat to Saddam's alleged personal ties to al Qaeda, Armey said, explaining that "we now know they have the ability to develop these weapons in a very portable fashion, and they have a delivery system in their relationship with organizations such as al Qaeda."

A question for Senator McCain

Tom Friedman asked an interesting question today in that media outlet most beloved by the denizens of Newsbusters, the New York Times:

"McCain talks about how he would build dozens of nuclear power plants. Oh, really? They go for $10 billion a pop. Where is the money going to come from? From lowering taxes? From banning abortions?"

Maybe McCain and Palin are too busy fighting the culture wars to answer any hard questions, so it's up to NewsBusters' intrepid readers to help them figure it out.

Where will the money come from to build all those dozens of nuclear reactors that John McCain has promised to build for $10 billion apiece?

Sarah Palin Interview Chat

To: NewsBusters Staff

From:  Free Stinker

Please, I would like to request a Sarah Palin Interview Chat for Friday evening, say starting at 9pm EDT.

Pop's links to anti-agw

Here is the anti-manmade global warming resource, just in case.

Pop's links, for those who are interested,

From Wednesday's chat:

http://www.adn.com/sarahpalin/story/511471.html

There was one from Hotair too, maybe he'll do us a favor and post it here himself.

The telegraph one really irks me.

What's Going On WIth Newsbusters ?

For several hours last night, and now this morning I haven't been able to connect to the Newsbusters site.

What's up ?  :-(

CONVENTION CHAT

TO: Newsbsuters Staff

FROM: Free Stinker

Is Newsbusters going to have a ** CHAT ** for the convention?

I can only speak for myself, but I suspect that many others would like a chat as well.

NB is very slow

for the past two days the pages are taking a loooonnnggg time to load and i'm getting a pop-up blocker notice

This website wants to install the following add-on: 'Adobe Flash Player Installer' from Adobe Systems Incorporated'

is anyone else experiencing this?  I already have Adobe Flash. And this is the only site i've been getting this at

Refreshes are annoying

I would like to see the automatic page refreshes stopped.  Several time, now, I've been watching an embedded video and had the page refresh before the video is finished playing.

That means a full reload of the video, and is particularly annoying when on a cellular card.

Forbidden Adjectives Related to Obama

It's time for us to compile a handy list of all the adjectives that have been designated as racial slurs concerning Obama. Here is the list so far:

  • Clean
  • Articulate
  • Thin
  • Young
  • Celebrity
  • Uppity
  • Big Eared

I will add others as Lord Obama Most Merciful reveals them.

(UPDATE)

Do I get a cut of all the extra ad revenue due to so many people clicking on this Forum Topic? ;-)

(UPDATE II - by Noel)

No.

(UDPATE III - FS again) LOL!

American Apparel Ads

It disturbs me to see advertising for American Apparel on Newsbusters.

Their "Legalise L.A." campaign undermines American sovereignty and advocates law breaking.

I am troubled and confused to see NB assisting these people with their leftist, open borders agenda.

OT - moderators please delete - testing link code only

Moderators please delete. Links do not show up as links in Preview mode (OS X 10.5 Safari 3 and Firefox 3); this post is to test if they work once posted to the forum. Necessary because I'd like to post a topic with several links to my graphical resources for the use of NewsBusters members and I want to make sure it'll work. Apologies and thanks in advance.

Political Cartoon

For those of you who miss seeing a good conservative political cartoon, Michael Ramirez is the cream of the crop. I have posted a link to his cartoon page below for those who would like to take a break and have a laugh. The link will always take you to his latest cartoon. Tell your friends. :0)

Why I like NewsBusters?

Let me count the ways.

While reading some of today's postings I was struck by their quality and depth.  Instead of mere rants they contain logic and humor that have an appeal to me.

So the topic for discussion is, "Why do you like NewsBusters?"

Gaggle Cartoon

Hello,

Is the gaggle cartoon updated on a regular basis?

I have created the link to my web site.  I only get a message with the words "Newsbusted" in a black background window.

Thank you,

Dana

Would it be possible to make it so Forum topic comments didn't appear in most recent comments?

It's not a real big deal, but I thought I'd ask if it happened to be an easy thing to do. I know there used to be a list of Hot forum topics or something listed separately and I wish it could just be like that.

This is just a suggestion it's not a big deal. I'd like to be able to avoid accidentally going into forum topics that are made by people I find to be offensive. I can easily click out but sometimes you don't realize it.

I also think that the "most recent comment" part in a way advertises a thread and NB should advertise it's own threads over ones that are created by users. Especially because many users have abused it. Just my opinion.

Obviously if it's a big deal to change then it's not even worth any consideration, but if it's easy it would be nice for you to think about it. Thanks.

No Chat, Again?

No Chat, Again? Did we have too much fun last time? :-(

Maybe my expectations are too high . . .

Religious Asylum

Religious Asylum

The overflow of our liberty had the message of happiness and piece with laughter and tears and we were swimming in overwhelming waves of this overflow with dignity. The new system of restriction linked together in it to create new system of security in the mean of patriot act and faith act to control power and flow of money for some privileged member of minority .Thus
We are seeking religious asylum for freedom because human faith is heavenly light of knowledge restriction on sacred light is eclipse on humanity. Human faith Kasa is full of sacred light for those who are seeking truth about life.
We are seeking religious asylum for freedom because we believe all people are entitled to freedom, peace and justice. We will do all that we can to see these rights are promoted and protected in the current century.
We are seeking religious asylum for freedom because we believe any kind of negative discrimination such as racism, sexism and religious persecution are crimes against humanity. We cannot endorse sole progression of man from animal as it rejects spiritual evolution. We will respect all human kind.
