Man Snoozes During John Edwards's ABC Town Hall...Then Vanishes

Posted by Scott Whitlock on July 16, 2007 - 15:59.

Did "Good Morning America" physically remove a man who appeared to be dozing off during Democratic Senator John Edwards's town hall meeting on Monday? Early in the 7am hour, the man (pictured at right) appeared to be sleeping, or at least dozing, while Edwards discussed his plan for Iraq.

Around 7:11, the individual, who was seated to the back and right of Edwards, mysteriously disappeared (see video below). Diane Sawyer even remarked how audience members for the New Orleans-based event had "gotten up early" to join him. Perhaps the network found it unacceptable that someone might perceive the former trial lawyer to be less than enthralling?

Video (0:50): Real (1.34 MB) or Windows (1.53 MB).

See below for a picture of Edwards when the camera cut back to him. The mysterious individual is now gone, though the shot is clearly the same. For more information on Monday’s town hall meeting, click here.

To read an account of Hillary Clinton’s March 26 special on GMA, click here. In total, "Good Morning America" has devoted 64 minutes worth of air time to the two Democratic candidates and zero, so far, for the Republicans.

Finally, for a look at the disparity between Senator Clinton’s town hall and the tougher questioning that Edwards endured, go here.

[Special thanks to MRC intern Michael Lanza for transcribing parts of the Edwards special.]

Look, if John Edwards' hair stylist can get up three hours earlier to do his hair for that meeting, then that man should've been able to stay awake for that meeting...

Could it be that maybe the guy was  Edward's hairstylist? :0

Nah, not french-looking enough - although it appears he could be suffering from hair spray poisoning. Still, he looks more like a teacher at the local junior college...

Wait a Minute   This is new.....we all know about the MSM doctoring Photo's, from the LA Time's changing of a Photo with a Soldier at a chekcpoint, moving his Rifle up so that it points towards Women and Children, instead of pointing at the Ground.....

But DOCTORING VIDEO's is a NEW and improved Technique.....they must have Spielburg Software or something in the News rooms nowadays.

I DEMAND a Congressional Investigation ! ! ! .........if they aren't too terribly busy investigating non-crimes .........

It's gotten to where you Can't TRUST those News guys and Gals....Is Katie Kuric really that good looking.....or is it Barbra WaWa in a "Doctored" State ?

Is it REally HILLARY...........or is it Bill with Video Improvements ? ?

Maybe the guy just got up and left on his own. I would have.

Re: the guy in the background: I'd like to know his secret.  Whenever I hear Edwards speak, it's so aggravating that a pleasant nap is impossible.  Anyone who can sleep through  a meeting where one of the most hypocritical phonies ever to run for President puts forth his sham agenda must be taking Ambien.  And judging by the uncharacteristic wrinkles on Edwards forhead, ABC forgot to electronically botox the video.

What do you expect? They Can NOT allow one of their annointed to appear bad. Of course they removed him. After all with the MSM it's all about appearance over substance.

I say that the man would have been removed regardless of the party speaking. I know, I know, crazy, right? If I were a campaign manager, I'd want him removed.

That is his campaign manager...        ;-)

We all know from history how the Leftists excel in making people "disappear" from pictures when it suited their political needs.
