For years, the media have bent over backwards to paint Republicans as racist using every indelicate comment by someone on the right to demean the entire Party.
It therefore will be interesting to see if the revelation that a Michigan Democrat recently referred to a colleague as "an arrogant n---er" will get the kind of attention it most certainly would if the offender belonged to the GOP.
Discord on the Buena Vista Township Board of Trustees reached a fever pitch Monday, April 22, when the township's interim manager played a recording of a telephone conversation in which the clerk uses a racial slur to describe the supervisor.
After playing the audio recording, Interim Township Manager Dexter Mitchell called for the resignation of Clerk Gloria Platko, who can be heard on the recording using the N-word to describe Township Supervisor Dwayne Parker.
Mitchell said he recorded the call in January without Platko’s knowledge because he didn’t want her to twist his words. About six minutes into the recording, Mitchell asks, “Would you be willing to sit down with (Parker)?”
Platko told Mitchell that Parker is “just rubbing me the wrong way.
“He is just doing whatever he can. You know what I think of Mr. Parker right now, and I know you’re not even going to like this,” Platko said in the recording. “But he’s just an arrogant (N-word). And I’m sorry to say it that way, but that’s the way I feel.”
Numerous websites including Mediaite have identified Platko as a Democrat. Yet none of the articles that I could find published by major news outlets did including the above-referenced piece, MINBCNews.com, and KDSK.com.
But she most certainly is a Democrat and was identified as such in a piece concerning election returns published at BirchRunChamber.org.
With this in mind, will this matter get the attention it most certainly would if Platko were a Republican, and if it does, will her party affiliation be disclosed?
Yes, those are rhetorical questions.
