Bill Maher is one extremely confused person.
Having two months ago said that his high taxes were leading him to consider dumping liberalism, HBO's Real Time host said Friday, "If you’re rich you should be begging the government to redistribute your wealth" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
BILL MAHER: There was a story recently about a Georgia man whose home was in foreclosure, savings running out. So he called 911, and when the responders arrived, he took them hostage. His demands? Getting his electricity turned back on. Now I’m not saying that’s a smart approach, but squeezing people economically so tight that they go all Django unchained, that’s not smart either.
If you’re rich you should be begging the government to redistribute your wealth, because you know what happens in countries where there’s a huge disparity between the rich and the poor? The rich get kidnapped. It happens 72 times a day in Mexico. Getting snatched out of your car is so common in South Africa that they actually make cars that do this.
(A video was shown of a car with flames being shot out of the sides where the front doors are.)
Do you really think your trophy wife is going to empty out the Swiss bank account to save your sorry ass? I’m talking to you, Donald Trump. Think about it. And remember, the difference between a mosquito and a hedge fund manager is a mosquito will stop sucking blood before it explodes.
Let's recall what Maher said on March 15:
Pointing at Virginia's former Republican Congressman Tom Davis, Maher said, "You know what? Rich people - I'm sure you'd agree with this - actually do pay the freight in this country. I just saw these statistics. I mean, something like 70 percent. And here in California, I just want to say liberals - you could actually lose me. It's outrageous what we're paying - over 50 percent. I'm willing to pay my share, but yeah, it's ridiculous."
Now, two months later he's advocating higher taxes on the rich which includes him for according to our friends at Celebrity Net Worth, Maher's worth $23 million.
Somehow one imagines this liberal hypocrite not including himself in the ranks of those that should be begging the government to redistribute their wealth.
