In just 58 seconds, Joe Scarborough has managed to render an imagined response to last night's SOTU that demolishes President Obama's failed economic record.
Delivered on today's Morning Joe, Scarborough scalded PBO's pitiful performance on the economy. Highlights from the Hall of Shame: four million more Americans out of work today than when Barack Obama became President; average income down 5% since the end of the recession. It leaves you shaking your head: how did Barack Obama manage to win in November with this kind of failed performance? And how can Republicans better marshal their arguments to win future elections?
Watch Scarborough's concise demolition of the Obama economic record.
Note: let's add to the litany of Obama's economic failures the fact that a record number of Americans--over 47 million--are on food stamps. Even worse than the sheer number is the fact that in the 1970s only one out of 50 Americans was on food stamps. Today, a shocking one out of 6.5 is.
JOE SCARBOROUGH: You know, I wish Marco Rubio would have said: you want to know what the state of the Union is? Let me tell you what the state of the Union is. Average income of Americans has dropped five percent. Not since Barack Obama became President of the United States, but since the recession ended. Our economy's in transition. More Americans are being left behind. Senior citizens aren't going to be assured of these entitlement programs for long. We're six trillion dollars deeper in debt today than we were when Barack Obama became President. Barack Obama's allowed the national debt to go up by 60% himself since he was President. Four million more Americans are out of work today than were working when Barack Obama became President. We've got the weakest recovery in over 70 years with Barack Obama as President of the United States. It is time to think big. It is time to go long. It is time to come together. Why couldn't anybody in washington say that last night?
