We need REAL REPUBLICANS in there....Which will take some initiative on our parts (IE) I myself will be registering as an Independent here in PA so I can vote AGAINST Arlen Specter. July 7, 2009 - 10:21 ET by DJEddleThe fact that we have no money didn't stop them the first time, so why would it matter now? Besides - we can print plenty of money to spend, so that's not really a problem for our fiscally responsible government.
I don't think we'll see another "porkulus" this year. The first one has barely begun being spent and the economy will show little response to it this year. Passing another one will be political suicide. The statists who put these morons in power won't allow them to risk their future statist dominance.
Look for Pork II next year...when the inflation starts to climb, unemployment continues to rise, the ignorant get more panicked, and more government is once again touted as the only way to save us. At that point, we can only hope that the ignorant are so destitute that they can't even make it to the polls to vote.

Other. There is no need
July 7, 2009 - 10:56 ET by dscottOther.
There is no need for another stimulus since all they need do is accelerate the spending on the one they have without taking any political risk of voting on another one. Between the farce of the Stimulus bill authorizing unbridled deficit spending and Obama's trillion a year deficit spending intended through the rest of his reign of economic destruction for the next 4 years, more than enough people will be brought to their knees to form a majority to beg for hand outs.
Obama being the consumate Chicago politician knows when people can not advance based on their merit if given a chance in a growing economy will willingly survive by seeking privilege in a contracting economy. Thus the point of extending privilege is being the one who extends it giving them the unlimited power over others. The one who hands out the bread to the starving has all power over those who seek his beneficance. They will do whatever he says and keep him power to continue receiving their bread. This is how a dictatorship is willingly accepted by the populace.
As long as wealth is being destroyed, the Federal Reserve can print an equal amount of dollars without causing hyperinflation, thus Obama and the Dems need no more tax increases or bills since they will be simply replacing wealth they destroyed through their policies with fiat dollars. Cap and Trade or continuing the drilling ban will ensure wealth is destroyed thus allowing the Dems to continue to spend with the Federal Reserve supplying the replacement dollars.

July 7, 2009 - 10:52 ET by NavyBuckeyeas proof I cut and pasted Joe Liarman's (Lieberman's) response to a letter I wrote cutting the Cap and Trade to shreds(of course facts and logic elude Mr. Lieberman):
Dear Mr. Folkwein:
Thank you for writing to me
regarding your opposition to climate change legislation. I respectfully disagree with your position
and view climate change as the most important environmental challenge of our
time.
Climate change is a very serious
problem - not just for our environment, but for our economy and our national
security, as well - and the way we produce and consume energy is making the
problem worse. We need to pass legislation to reduce our greenhouse gas
emissions and transition to a clean energy economy. To do that, we will
have to build a broad coalition.
To succeed, a bill will need
diverse support, which means bringing everyone to the table and really
listening to what they have to say. We have to sit down with the
environmental community, the business community, and the scientific community.
We have to talk to Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle about how
best to address this crucial issue.
This could be a watershed
moment. We have near scientific unanimity that humans are causing climate
change, we have a Congress poised to take action, and we have a President
pushing for progress. In his inaugural address, President Obama told us
"each day brings further evidence that the ways we
use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet." He is
absolutely right, and I look forward to working with the President to: (1) promote energy innovation so that we can
produce and consume energy more cleanly and efficiently; (2) protect energy
consumers from rising power prices; (3) prepare our communities to respond to
the impacts of climate change; and (4) create jobs as we transition toward a
clean energy economy. I also support including provisions in
climate change legislation that would ensure a cap-and-trade system does not
increase the deficit.
Climate legislation should improve
our environment and grow our economy at the same time.
In these tough financial times, some have asked whether it makes sense
to focus on the environment. The fact is, ignoring climate change until
our economic situation improves will ultimately be far more expensive - and
destructive - than taking steps to address it now.
Climate change does not just threaten our
environment, it endangers our economy and national security, as well.
Left unabated, its impacts will ravage coastlines and coastal communities,
destroy large swaths of roadways and railways, and seriously degrade land
resources and biodiversity. Additionally, climate-induced droughts will
cause famine, threatening already scarce resources and further destabilizing
developing nations that are unable to quickly adapt. Every day we fail to
reform our energy habits, we guarantee the solution will be far more expensive;
and if we wait much longer, there may be no solution.
If we are able to pass climate change
legislation this year, we will ensure the integrity of our environmental legacy
for generations to come. I am working hard to make certain we move toward
that important goal.
As you may know, on April 17, the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released a preliminary finding that
carbon dioxide emissions harm human health and welfare. Though the finding has not yet been finalized,
if and when it is, EPA will be able to regulate greenhouse gas emissions under
the Clean Air Act. One option the agency
will have for doing so will be to set reduction targets. I believe strongly that cap-and-trade would be
the better approach. It allows
businesses to comply with reduction targets in the most economically efficient
way possible, which, in turn, helps keep American-made goods competitive and
keeps energy prices down.

views and concerns with me. I hope you

A law firm in Ohio is trying to recruit him to run there, obviously not against Lieberman. He continued with this:
"I have sometimes thought I could move to New Jersey or Connecticut and run. I’d love to run against Joe Lieberman. I have no use for him. But it’s all fantasy. I’m a carry-me-out-in-a-box New Yorker. Here, anything can happen. Who thought Eliot Spitzer would go down the way he did? Senator Hillary Clinton left to serve as secretary of state. Two of the biggest forces gone. Maybe Andrew Cuomo will run for one of their old seats. How much longer will Chuck Schumer stay as senator? After 2013 Bloomberg will be gone. What happens then? Do I run for Congress on Long Island? What’s Tim Bishop going to do? He represents my district. People get sick, die. They’re offered lucrative deals and want to cash in and make money for their retirement. People misstep. Unfortunately, an opportunity for me may mean bad things for someone else. I don’t wish that.
