I also think this will all be quietly pushed aside - the Dems race is too close, their convention is too far out, the election even further out, and there is too much time for the MSM to spin something negative about McCain or the GOP to take the heat off BHO. Before the Rev Wright fiasco, there were quite a few conservatives who “liked” Obama…. they would never actually vote for the man (because of his liberalism), but they liked him. Obama was seen as the post-race candidate, and that concept was very appealing.
The first indications of a problem came from Michelle Obama. Her comments didn’t sound post-racial and future-driven. She sounded like the class discussion from a 1970’s Sociology seminar. Then came Rev Wright and his black separatist church. And Obama was an apologist for that church and he is an apologist for that church and he has a right to be an apologist for that church….. but Rev Wright and his church are totally retro. Anybody who was anywhere near an American city or university campus 40 years ago can tell you that there is absolutely nothing new or forward thinking about Reverend Wright and his nasty little doctrine.
That’s the theme I see emerging from the last two weeks. When the subject is race, there is nothing new and exciting about Obama. He represents business as usual. His promises to revitalize this nation and bring us together now sound very empty.
