Yes
May 2, 2008 - 17:38 ET by jefflebowskiBecause Bush backs Ethanol production, the press will be quick to show that Ethanol isn't working like advertised.
Perhaps, just maybe....
May 2, 2008 - 18:12 ET by MidAmericaPerhaps, just maybe.... it'll be all George Bush's fault. We might see headlines like this one from Reuters:
UN, World Bank tackle food crisis, Bush backs ethanol
Tue 29 Apr 2008, 19:01 GMT
This food crisis is not the fault of the 'greenies'. It's the fault of that madman in the Oval Office.
How many times has Bush reached his hand across the aisle and pulled back a bloody stump?
Yes, but only if they can
May 2, 2008 - 17:53 ET by scamoramaYes, but only if they can "prove" that big (ethanol) bidness is "harming poor people".
I put yes.
May 2, 2008 - 17:54 ET by sarcasmoThat'll be the easy part for them. The hard part, which they'll probably avoid, will be admitting just who told them it would be another bipartisan failure all along.

The tax & spend drug war looks racist in the real world.

May 2, 2008 - 18:05 ET by motherbeltNah. They'll just say the program was underfunded; we need to put more money into it.
But if it Gets REALLY Bad...
May 2, 2008 - 18:17 ET by TinianNah. They'll just say the program was underfunded; we need to put more money into it.
But if/when it gets really bad they'll just put all of the blame on W.
Under funded

No Chance
May 2, 2008 - 19:14 ET by MCPO AirdaleThere is no chance the media will admit the pitfalls of ethanol mandates. Like the mercury danger from CFLs, our "4th Estate" will sweep it all under the rug.
"Nothing to see here. . . Move along!"
Unless they can somehow
May 2, 2008 - 19:15 ET by Scout FinchUnless they can somehow blame it on conservatives. Then you'll see the finger-pointing.
If they ever do admit it...
May 2, 2008 - 19:33 ET by Republican_by_Defaultit will be after an election, but not before. And only if it's impossible to deny it, such as if a foreign leader would would raise a big stink about it that couldn't be ignored, they would cover the story and reluctantly admit the mistake.
nah...
May 2, 2008 - 19:52 ET by VT Con ManAt first blush, it seems clearly obvious tht they MUST come clean on this horrible debacle, but then, I realize they won't even acknowledge so many other truths that seem so very obvious, like Tax revenues INCREASING from tax cuts, and oh so many other proven benefits of conservatism and problems created by over zealous government medeling.
nah... they won't touch it, unless they can keep the dems out of having to take any of the responsibility.
Push for change
May 2, 2008 - 20:39 ET by ScrapironLike and good democrat, the media will push for 'change' and never admit why change is necessary. Kind of like Hussein O and his change that no one knows what is.
Old, Retired and glad of it.
Kind of like Hussein O and

Whaddaya mean, no one knows what it is? It's "Change you can believe in!!!" Haven't you been paying attention?!

Admit???
May 2, 2008 - 20:59 ET by pbthinkerThe media will do, what they always do, they'll just drop the subject and you won't hear another word about it. They will never admit they were biased for the idea and pushed it, along with many other global warming initiatives which are failures. They'll never admit their culpability in the high price of gasoline, since they didn't push Democrat candidates, when they were running and pushing their crazy ideas, about the possible results. The media is bankrupt and has no clue what their role in society is.
Democrats: Stuck on Stupid since 2000.

I said "never"
May 2, 2008 - 21:03 ET by Cape Conservativesince I figure it will have to come AFTER they admit global warming is simply a figment of AG's imagination and NOTHING more!
Let's face it, this snake oil salesman wanted to fatten his bank account and swell his ego and there were enough gullible jerks willing to put their scientific reputations on the line for a moment or two of glory. SAD SAD SAD
ethanol
May 2, 2008 - 23:56 ET by Ozonecharlieozonecharlie My Uncle in the Midwest is making a killing on ethanol. He just bought me a Porsche for my birthday.
Go green!
Somewhat unlikely
May 3, 2008 - 11:33 ET by AlabamaEventually, yeah, ethanol will be reluctantly admitted to be a failed endeavor. But in kind of the same way that it's now common knowledge that there were, in fact, Soviet spies in sensitive gov't positions... Admitted highly reluctantly, and only because the amount of information available makes a denier look like a willful idiot... I think the same will go for the current "climate change" advocates (paging Al Gore...) as well.
I don't envision a press release, though.
