If he doesn't get booed
July 15, 2008 - 13:15 ET by ConservativeRexIf he doesn't get booed by that rabble I'll be surprised. Obami could get up there and sound like Charlie Brown's teacher and they'd cheer him to no end.
Yeah, I'd say there's a split in this country, and it's widening. And we all know why.

July 15, 2008 - 13:37 ET by lotrThere should be at least one other choice along the lines of:

July 15, 2008 - 15:57 ET by DEVILDOCMOMthey will find some way to make it a negative and stab him in the back-no matter what happens there. There is a story above on McCain and some media chickie...rodriguez (?) interviewing him regarding his appearance at the la raza convention. She basically states that only conservatives opposed the previous legislation regarding illegals (of course she would never call them what they are).
She needs to go back to the news, the AMERICAN PEOPLE overwhelmingly opposed that bill.

Exactly DDM.
McCain would also do well to remember that...at all times.
Quite a few of us here on NBs worked hard also making sure those Senators heard us. Jeff Sessions being a stalwart leading the way for our side...then you had Reid and others like McCain trying to slip in the Dream Act when they hoped nobody was listening...plus there is overwhelming support by the legals that are here that do not support the BS they tried to cram down our throats.

We do not
July 15, 2008 - 16:34 ET by DEVILDOCMOMhave much of a choice on this issue-both parties are against us-we just need to continue to fight. Even our other senator, Jon Kyl, bought into this garbage. I think he has seen the light now, but I am not sure the full house and senate truly do.
The question
July 15, 2008 - 13:49 ET by Jerry MackThe question should be: Why is McCain wasting his time talking to people that are not going to vote for him?
→ Jerry Mack
July 15, 2008 - 13:56 ET by Cool ArrowIt's not by much, but McCain does come across as slightly more manly than Julian Bond.
Maybe he's hoping to capitalize on the contrast.

July 15, 2008 - 14:02 ET by Chris NormanIt'll be cast by the media as Republicans having nothing to offer black voters and the almost unanimous support that The Obama has in the black community.

July 15, 2008 - 15:03 ET by Rackie"Mayday" McCain is just your typical dysfunctional, old school professional political suckup who lives to be liked. If anything, he's a masochist.
Who cares?
July 15, 2008 - 15:18 ET by orlandocajunI'm sick of politicians going to hyphenated American conferences and pandering. They'll say whatever it takes to suck up to them and turn around and say exactly the opposite to a group who opposes the first. Then, they deny flip-flopping as though they weren't caught on audio or video. Then, the mindless idiots in both groups think that the politician was lying to the other and not them.
The answer to this question...
July 15, 2008 - 15:50 ET by HeavyChevywas kind of obvious.

For some reason, the abolitionist, pro-1965 Civil Rights Act, color-blind GOP is always accused of racism if they don't pander to the liberal ideology of the NAACP and other similar groups, and they get accused of pandering if they do. It's a no-win for a GOP-er.
Now, if it's a pro-slavery, start-a-war if an Abolitionist becomes president, Jim Crow Democrat, they can be a Grand Wizard of the KKK and still get the NAACP nod as long as they promise to keep counting heads and shelling out welfare dollars.
???
July 15, 2008 - 18:19 ET by jerrytbgHe adddressed the NAACP?
The NAACP double-standard?
July 15, 2008 - 21:35 ET by goldenthroatWhy do they still call themselves the "National Association for the Advancement of COLORED People?"
Of all the "politically incorrect" terms they despise, I would think that "colored" would now be considered racist by them! I thought they liked calling themselves "Africian-Americans" - or is this part of the "separate but equal" mentality that groups like them continue to demonstrate?
Isn't it interesting that they are allowed to say what they want to about themselves - but forget about a dirty white boy calling one of them "colored" - you'd have the Reeeeeeeeverends Al Not-So-Sharpton and Jessah Jaaachsun organizing marches over that one!
