Lack something to say when sending a letter or e-mail to your elected representatives on Cap and Trade? Here are some bullets that you may consider using:
The Cap and Trade bill will drastically increase energy taxes. The bill forces down supply by restricting carbon dioxide emissions from coal, oil, and natural gas, and thus boosts the price of energy.
The Cap-and-Trade bill hurts the American consumer. Higher energy costs will hit poorer Americans the hardest. If this bill passes, the manufacturing sector projects that over 1 million jobs will be lost by 2022 and two million by 2027. The price of household energy, including electricity, will also drastically increase.
This Cap and Trade bill will massively increases scope of government. It puts the federal government in charge of deciding how much energy Americans can use. This is an unacceptable infiltration into the lives and liberty of American citizens.
The same Cap-and-Trade policies in Europe are proven failures. The environmental benefits have proven small to non-existent. The bill reduces emissions of "greenhouse gases" in the United States only. China is the world's largest polluter, with India and other fast-developing nations not far behind. This bill is nothing more than a giant tax increase and an attempt to increase governmental control over your lives!
Write a letter and send it to your elected representative explaining that 'cap and trade' is a direct violation of the enumerated powers and a vote for it will result in your filing a forma complaint with your local District Attorney.
Then send a copy to the DA with a note explaining that you will make every effort to ensure their future political plans fall through if this issue is not agressively pursued.

Yes and that included me. However, back then all of this was just predictions of things that would happen and many Dems were saying, “Oh, it won’t be like you say – you’re all just overreacting. Obama knows his limits and will govern moderately”. Even I had doubts for (a half a minute) that maybe I was overreacting. But, no, this is as bad as we said it would be – a nightmare.

congressman after I sent in my request for his no vote on the obama/pelosi/waxman bill;
Like you, I understand the need to improve the health of our environment. However, I am concerned about any plan that would harm so many existing jobs, especially in these difficult economic times. Many argue that this legislation would create “green” jobs, but the amount of jobs created under this proposal would pale in comparison with the millions lost due to these energy taxes. Also, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), this proposal would pass along the increased costs of energy production to the consumer, increasing the average household energy costs up to $3,128 per year. As your Representative in Congress, it is important for me to hear your views. Please know that I will carefully consider your comments should this legislation come before the House.
He doesn't commit but I think he's good for a no vote and he knows I go to the House website and check his votes. I believe the big O already has us headed to national unemployment at 15% or higher and at least 5 more years of his depression/recession that he, acorn and senate dems have caused, and thats even if we get rid of his sorry self right now, the passage of this bill will likely increase the national unemployment rate to an unprecedented 24 to 30%.

Put the fear of God in them and let's see how arrogant they will be. I doubt my dream will come to pass but I truly pray it does. Otherwise, I call upon all pissers and moaners to stop griping and bend over because until you wake up and stand up to this tyranny then you have nobody to blame but yourselves.
"Race doesn't matter..liberals are only one color - YELLOW"
It will pass. I believe every single disastrous idea has passed so far. Why stop now? The voters gave the Libs "the handbasket" and they're running with it.
Every time the Republicans, when in power, have tried to roll back anything - welfare, spending, etc., the media usually rushes out anecdotal personal stories showing the "damages" the Republicans policies are "creating" followed by clips of "typical" voters saying things like, "We didn't want or expect them to go this far... or "This isn't what I voted for...". Nothing like this is ever offered by the media when the Dems run amok, drunk on their power. No, the media, wants them to do even more.
The "Mainstream" Media: By liberals. For liberals.
Even as Democrats have promised that this cap-and-trade legislation won't pinch wallets, behind the scenes they've acknowledged the energy price tsunami that is coming. During the brief few days in which the bill was debated in the House Energy Committee, Republicans offered three amendments: one to suspend the program if gas hit $5 a gallon; one to suspend the program if electricity prices rose 10% over 2009; and one to suspend the program if unemployment rates hit 15%. Democrats defeated all of them.
The reality is that cost estimates for climate legislation are as unreliable as the models predicting climate change. What comes out of the computer is a function of what politicians type in. A better indicator might be what other countries are already experiencing. Britain's Taxpayer Alliance estimates the average family there is paying nearly $1,300 a year in green taxes for carbon-cutting programs in effect only a few years.
Americans should know that those Members who vote for this climate bill are voting for what is likely to be the biggest tax in American history. Even Democrats can't repeal that reality.
It's time to put the pressure on these Congresscritters.
I just heard a very interesting informative floor speech from Sen. Inhofe regarding all of this....if you get the chance, look it up and listen to it later.
