I heard on Friday that Mrs Edwardsa was going to speak. I wonder if they pulled that invitation back now. I would guess she will abck out to minimize her exposure to press.
C'mon folks...scandals and failed policies build stature in Dem/msm circles. Look at how the msm continually seek the opinion of Carter/Kerry/McGovern...
Could you possibly have meant "DOOZY" (as in "crazy", a "lulu", "fun to watch these nutballs") or was "DOZY" actually correct (as in, "these-whackos-are-so-boring-that-I-can't-stay-awake-for-another-minute,")??!!??!!
Now we're talking! A convention without hookers is a party without booze! It would be like the old days...gawd, how I enjoyed those days of yore! Now, it's nothing but buffoons, balloons and confetti. I'm showing my age when I start thinking about how fun it was to go back to the room with a couple of "friends" after a drunken night on the convention floor. Those were the days...
By the way, speakin' as an old conservative fart, I have certain desires, wants and needs, too. At least, I'm not hiding it like those sleazy dimobats and their mightier than thou attitudes!
Let us harken back to the days of Jimmy Carter (at least SNL's take on JC):
Uh, hi there, everybody. It's good to see your faces. Tonight I want to talk to you about a timeless Democratic tradition - sexual performance in the White House! [ smiles and salutes the crowd ] I am going to personally try to be a lusty, zesty kind of president, and follow.. [ winks at girl in the crowd ] Hi, baby. How are you? [ returns to speech ] ..and follow the lusty example of LBJ, JFK, and FDR. I want you to remember for a moment the love life of Harry Truman, and my guess is that his First Lady was one satisfied customer! [ makes kissing gestures to girls in the crowd ]

To top it off, having one of his lovers sing to him nationally for his birthday had to kill Jackie...talk about rubbing salt in the wound with Monroe...
Msm still covering and circling the wagons for their dem play mates.
...so glad we have the internet.

I think JFK was the last president or candidate where they all turned a blind eye to the extramarital affairs. Gary Hart got caught because he challenged the MSM to catch him. I think Edwards would have gone down eventually, but I do agree with another poster about the timing of the MSM getting on board. Let's wait until BHO is incommunicado on vacation to keep our annointed one from possibly getting tarred.
I never been able to figure out the MSM's love affair with liberals. I guess they either make enough they can hire tax consultants to shelter their wages or they make so much they can afford to give it away. I wonder how many of them are doing the "Bono", telling their country to be more generous with tax monies to poor countries, but hiding their own money from that taxing body. It would be very interesting to see Tom Brokaw's or Katey Couric's tax returns. I'm not saying that they don't have a right to protect their wages as they see fit, but they shouldn't be preaching that we need to raise taxes and they should not be carrying the water for a presidential candidate who has a platform based on raising taxes to pay for all his promises.
"An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last." - Sir Winston Churchill
I vote yes. The democrats can't let Edwards' infidelity inspired news-worthiness interfere with Obama's media blitz, especially with Obama's shrinking popularity. The democrats need to make the DNC into the Obama Convention and not the Edwards Apology Show.
From now until the end of the election cycle it's "You don't help us Obi-John. Obama's our only hope."
What affair are you talking about? I haven't heard of it. Checked the NYT.com this morning; nothing there. Looked at some early morning "news" shows and heard a lot about how beloved Edwards is -- no mention of an affair.
I think NB must be smoking something here. Where do you guys get these rumors, anyway? Methinks the staff should get their "reality" compasses re-calibrated.

Is Edwards a democrat? I didn't know that. The Raleigh paper had a huge, multipage article about Edwards on Sat that said he was a former Senator and Pres and VP candidate but not once did it mention he was a Democrat.
I think I've pointed out in the past that this is a time saver that also cuts down on the use of ink and saves trees. Combining this with the actaul omission of reporting scandals and crimes involving Democrats has saved the US from complete deforestation and ink poisoning in landfills. Imagine how many extra pages in newspapers and magazines would be required if Chris Dodd and his party compatriots had had even a tad bit of coverage on their loan scandals. Scandals only need reporting and annotation with party when said screwup is a Republican.

I heard yesterday that neither one will be speaking at the dem. convention.
Of course being leftists...things could change, they could take a poll, stick their fingers up to see which way the wind blows.
Btw...no matter what, if either one of them walked on stage, before even speaking with their usual lies, they would get a standing ovation, especially poor put upon Elizabeth.
What I am hoping to see is the roll call vote with Hill's name out there for nomination...hehehee....you can't help but wonder what would of happened if the Edwards would of not run, what votes Hill would of garnered.

LOL-That is going to be the million dollar moment, for sure.
Given that Obama appears to be losing support, even among some dems I know personally, that is going to be an interesting vote.
My sense is that "buyer's remorse" is at a fever pitch among many dems, and even though McCain is a pathetically weak candidate, they have to realize that Obama should be polling far higher than he is.
I think there are a lot of dems in a bit of a private panic over Obama.
And don't forget, Broom Hilda didn't actually quit the race.
Right now, unless Barry-O shoots up sharply in the polls, and soon, I'd say it is a 50/50 chance he will not be the dem nominee.

We are not going to save this country by being polite to those who are working tirelessly (and succeeding right handily) at destroying it.

I was wondering if Edwards would be returning campaign contributions to people who donated thinking he was a loving, devoted husband and family man and shared their core beliefs. There should be some sort of penalty for false advertizing.
"An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last." - Sir Winston Churchill
There is no chance that either Edwards will be speaking.
Although never fan of John Edwards I find it intriguing that his fellow libs are showing no sympathy for him.
I never try to impose moral values on someone else if I have not walked in their shoes. While I have experienced many tragedies since childhood, I have not had to live through the death of a son or living with a terminally ill wife. Many people have been known to deal with tragedy in different ways including escape. Edwards has not been known as a philanderer like Clinton, Kennedy, or Spitzer. So my inclination would be to give him the benefit of the doubt, let him walk off the stage, and deal with this privately with his wife and children.
John Edwards must be still thinking he did nothing wrong. Usually, this sort of thing is nothing more than a resume enhancement for Democrats, so what there are some mitigating circumstances here, like his wife having cancer, money coming from campaign funds, dates being screwed up, a child that, if his time line doesn't jibe with the truth, could be his. Hey, he's a good trial lawyer, they're just little facts that have to be dealt with and he's doing that as fast as he can.
This year, however, no speeches and no vice-presidency. Ironically, I'll be there are Democrats who are really happy they don't have to make that decision. Does anyone think we're the only ones who know what a phoney this guy is?
