They don't like to see the

They don't like to see their country and it's boys and girls in uniform slandered and bashed - check.

Of course the everyday

Of course the everyday American wants Victory...the everyday American can tell leftist la-la land Hollywood elitists with an agenda for defeat and hatred for the Prez and our military where to go...

With their pocket-books...thank goodness for my fellow Americans this all has tickled me pink!

and unlike with books, Mark

and unlike with books, Mark Cuban can't buy all the tickets for each showing to pump up sales. He'd have to put mannequins in the seats trying to pull that one off - or else give the tickets to high school /college social studies classes and force them to watch...

how this anti-American dink

how this anti-American dink can run a business in Texas is beyond me

News Media...

The news media obviously loses here.

The first thought which came to mind was Mrs Clinton's eventual flip. She cannot win as anti-military. After the nomination she will move to the pro-Iraq side.

Maybe Bush should fire the

Maybe Bush should fire the writers like Reagan did the air traffic controllers.  Maybe we could get some quality writers.

But I thought the writers,

But I thought the writers, just like the media, were controlled by the right wing hate machine. At least thats what Merle Streep said. Robert Redford said something like that then started talking about how he knocked them lights out playing baseball. Tom Cruise was worshipping aliens and couldnt be reached for comment.

The movies are not as good

The movies are not as good because the material and premise is flawed.  War movies, the patriotic ones and the ones who show truth and courage will always be in style no matter what.  Movies made during wartime sell if they have a positive message as they have during WWII, Korean, Vietnam and so on.  We can potray the soldiers as real people witness the mini series Band of Brothers but Three Kings show the worst and only sicken the people.

Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.

What was wrong with 3

What was wrong with 3 Kings? It showed the soldiers backing off of their original intentions and coming through as heroes. It depicted Saddam's men as brutal thugs. And it suggested that we should have invaded Baghdad back in 1990. What was your problem with it, besides the presence of George Clooney?

My problem with it is that

My problem with it is that thier original intentions were to steal and defraud.  The illustration was one of the soldiers as ignoramouses no better than common thieves.  The movie was ok but the premise was mightily flawed and no I like some of Cloney's movies, Dusk til Dawn was really funny of course it showed teh anti religeous side and that bothers me.

But Three Kings was a bad movie and I only watched it because it was on cable.  It was a movie probably on par with redacted, a movie I will not watch.

Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.

I definitely wouldn't put

I definitely wouldn't put it on par with Redacted (from what I've heard of it). I really like 3 Kings. As you may recall, the soldiers initially think of their heist as victimless, because Saddam stole the gold, so why shouldn't they take it from him. As soon as they see the human suffering they would be abandoning, they sacrifice the riches to protect the people. I didn't find it to be derogatory at all; not at the level of unfettered heroism as The Longest Day, but a thoughtful, supportive film.

But this might just come down to a matter of taste.

I'm with you, JC. I thought

I'm with you, JC. I thought it showed the soldiers as very human. They were fallible, yet in the end they did what was right.

Exactly. Frankly, I don't

Exactly. Frankly, I don't think there's anything patriotic or worthwhile about making soldiers out to be infallible and perfect, and our enemies as singularly evil. It's bad cinema and a disservice to the fact that soldiers are human. 3 Kings nailed it.

Of course, if you show

Of course, if you show soldiers as fallible, you're a commie pinko. Therein lies the rub.

Your damn straight!

Anyone remember the Dirty Dozen? There was nothing wrong with The Three Kings. It didnt try to portrait all troops that way.It was just a movie. To me just entertainment.

Red Dawn was a great war

Red Dawn was a great war movie.

Forget 911, I dial 10MM.

Yup

That was really good. One of my favorites was In Harm's Way.

Most who are upset about the war.....

...don't want us to lose. And most people, despite what Hollywood may think, don't like to see our troops portrayed as murderous, drunken thugs with confederate flags adorning their barracks.

"women and minorities hardest hit"

I haven't seen any of them

I haven't seen any of them so I can't speak as to the quality of the pics. I really am just not interested in seeing such a movie right in the middle of this conflict. Maybe when we're able to stand down a little, when we've had a chance to reflect on the war as a whole. But making assessments and judgements in the middle seems a tricky thing to do.

I was watching something on

I was watching something on some news channel this past weekend that directly addressed this particular issue. One person made the comment that most people just don't want to be subjected to self-loating anti-americanism, manifested these days in anti-war movies.

The US is all about the underdog overcoming adversity, not the behemoth toppling over under its own weight.

"Boats are safe in the harbor, but that's not what they're made for." -- Maritime quote

I saw a disinqenious spin

I saw a disinqenious spin on this. A column where they were presented not as anti war movies but rather as war movies. The reason "war" movies were doing so poorly was because the people were tired of the war.

Reality is, these are anti war movies. And as much as the  left thinks they are the only one who know the truth. America has turned their backs of these creeps.

"There is a clear attempt to establish truth not by scientific methods but by perpetual repetition."
- Richard S. Lindzen, Ph.D. Professor of Meteorology, MIT

America has turned their backs of these creeps.

Not sure your right, but I like the thought of it.

Why Have All the Anti-war Movies Done So Badly?

Maybe because they "suck".

I don't think Americans want to pay ten bucks a ticket to to be insulted and disparaged.Hollywood types fail to realize that almost every American soldier has friends and family who support them and don't like it when they get pissed on by the movie industry.Michael Moore got away with it a few years ago with that piece of dooty he produced but who would watch that crap now.
Americans want to win in Iraq.

Victory in Iraq.

Been there done that!

No one except those who haven't been there would believe these pieces of dreck. Unfortunately the vast majority of those working in Hollywood have never experienced a wartime environment. It's like having a tennis player teaching you to play the piano. The idea of learning about the military from the likes of Robert Redford instead of someone who actually spent a full tour in Vietnam is absurd. If you want to know about soldiers and warfare learn from folks who actually fought in one.

On the other hand, if you want to learn about how to reap all the benefits of a privileged life in Americas most exclusive communities without having to assume any of the responsibilities, give Mr Redford and his friends a call.  Me, I'll keep my lousy $10 and Bobby can keep his lousy movie.

For Bubba and Ron who didn't make it home from Vietnam.

ALL OF THE ABOVE

These movies are drivel, the acting sucks, they ruin the movie trying to make a political point (left) and the country is sick and tired of this constant leftist sniveling bunch of nit-wits.

I think movies in general

I think movies in general have been pretty sucky lately.

I can rent an oldie

I can rent a movie made during WWII and walk out with a smile on my face...Hollywood died a long time ago.....

Movies? What movies?

I think the last war-movie I went to a theater to see was Mel Gibson's Patriots - prior to that movie, I had not been to a theater more than once in eight to ten years - simply because there has not been a movie made worth, to me, the time or money. I don't like supporting the anti-American, leftist-propagandist filth purveryors that infest the industry today - and they don't like me, obviously.

}}---> Amazing Grace Movie

I rented "Amazing Grace" today and loved it.

 Plant crops - not questions

I havent rented it yet.

I interested in seeing it.Hope your right. There are very few movies I have a interest in.

redacting REDACTED

I've yet to see it accurately stated the true value of "REDACTED" to the terrorist world.

I haven't seen it, but I'll bet the truly valuable snippets are sort of "Blair Witch" quality or Night vision scenes.

Imagine the impact of these scenes clipped from the movie's entirety and presented as documentary evidence to the ignorant Islamic masses who've been allowed no access to academics other than Truthie's Koran.

I'm betting the rape scene hits youtube as "Fly on the wall" evidence collected by a brave Islamic Journalist.

DePalma and Cuban knew exactly what they were doing.

 If the movie "Redacted"

If the movie "Redacted" results in one soldier being harmed,  Brian DePalma and Mark Cuban should have the Mogadishiu treatment.

Look how the Arab world reacted to the Charles Enderlin lies about Muhammed al Durah.  That is what we can expect from these terrorist when they get sight of this propaganda.

These two Neo-Stalinist will need to account for their actions.  We'll know how the terrorist react if they scream about this movie as they blow themselves up,  reminiscent to screaming Durah's name as they literally ripped Israeli soldiers apart limb by limb.  OBL used the name of Durah in his video about September 11,  2001 as one reason for attacking.  All over the lies (Enderlin's) of a video.

Be very careful Hollywood,  the world does watch.
