I think he knows he's weak in this area, that being foreign policy, and doesn't want that to be exploited. Not the the MSM will dare say anything bad about the Holy Obama. He doesn't want to showcase his weaknesses. I think him not going is a big indicator that he will be a horrible president. The great speaker can't do the day to day presidential things, like tour Iraq. What a wuss!
Obama has not been to Iraq lately simply because he can't understand what is going on there. He has no knowledge or understanding of war, tactics or the kind of people who sign up to do such a job.
But magically, when he becomes POTUS, he will know better than generals on the ground and will pull US troops out immediately. I just can't wrap my head around that.
Well maybe a simple answer would be he didn't support the war in the first place so why would he put himself in an area he doesn't support. I mean some loony left people could take it as a flip-flop that Obama would be showing support if he stepped foot in Iraq.
Remember, Michelle has said that Barrack could get shot just going to a gas station in Chicago. For damn sure she isn't going to let him go to some place like Iraq.
Barrack: "I would go except they say it will cost too much. It will cost as much...uh it will cost about as much as....uh it will cost in ten years...uh wait a minute, I can't hear myself." Too bad the rest of us could.
Plus he won't go if Lara Logan is not still there.
If Michelle is afraid of B(can't say middle inital)O getting shot, she surely wouldn't allow him to pick Hellary as his VP. The Clinton 'gang' would ensure she bacame Prez....
...is why do the Dems continue to fund the war they claim they want to end? The Senate just voted 92-6 (which means at least 43 Dems voted for it) to provide another $160 billion or so for the war.
I wonder what their buddies at MoveOn.org think about this.
1) He'll have to acknowledge the success of the surge. Oh sure, he can still try to spin it negatively(as the press always does), but for the Dems, their entire Iraq agenda is "the war is lost, we have to pull out our troops". Nothing can be allowed to affect that narrative.
2) He risks making national security a major campaign issue. Right now, it's the economy and gas prices, that's what he wants(well, maybe not the gas prices). On foreign policy, he's a novice and a borderline idiot.
Adam, I take great exception to your comment that he is a borderline idiot on foreign policy. How dare you call him borderline when he is, in fact, a COMPLETE idiot on foreign policy. :-)
Obama has almost nothing to gain from going to Iraq - and lots of risks. He could get embarassed by the troops (GOD bless 'em), Moveon would have a canary, code pink would too, and he might, just might, have to admit in public that it would not be a good idea to leave just yet - regardless of whether one was for ar against the original invasion. He would have to address the here and now - something that with his future vision - would be a serious breach of his campaign's designed aura of looking to a promising future, but one that only embraces anti-military and anti-conservative sentiment. Worse than admitting he might be wrong, he might have to admit that the conservatives could kinda, sorta be right to want to stay in Iraq for a while.
I am telling you right now that Barrie is afraid that if goes there he might get drafted (yeah, we know there is no draft). And for him, the fear is two-fold: us and them.
Mr. Obama to be frank, thinks it is beneath him....... it isn't his "war"....he didn't vote for it.... He has pinned himself into a corner on this subject… he can’t go, if he does, then he will have to re-think everything he has been told and has been saying. He would have admit to the WHOLE world he was wrong….(he can't just flip flop on this) That would be a hard pill to swallow… however, if he were to do such a thing, he would gain some respect from me. . but I am not holding my breath…
I have heard he is going to make a trip now...isn't it convenient...
As far as I am concerned, he will find all wrong he can as all the leftists do there without using a put-down to our military, but he will have deep concern an criticis to the Iraqi govt. and Pres. Bush...as all the leftist do when they go there and report back here..it's their job, it's what they do...they have an agenda to fulfill after-all.

Nice to meet you too..... Never fear, I don’t get offend easily… lol I don't comment often here, so I will try making sure my sarcasm gets correctly written.
On a side note: Thank you for your gratitude….I am very proud of my men and of all the soldiers (men and women), but this is something very new to me and my family…… my son, leaves for boot camp this August and my husband went back into the Marines a few months ago … It has been great getting to know the military community…I am very proud and honored to be apart of such a wonderful extended family…
I have two sons in the military (Navy and Marines). My Marine son is on duty in Afghanistan right now and my Navy son will be in Iraq in Nov. I was always proud of them but when they started their service that pride swelled like wouldn't believe (actually, I'm sure you do believe) Our thanks to your brave son and husband and all who serve our great country.
"He was focused on the campaign." Had he gone during the primary he would have lessoned his chances with the moveon nuts. Now that he has some downtime a trip would be in proper pandering order.
The reason he won't go to Iraq is because he has no clue.
He has absolutely no clue as to what is going on over there, and I would not be surprised at all if he didn't care.
And, he has NO idea of the logistical undertaking that will be involved if he orders a surrender. None whatsoever. I'd be willing to bet he just thinks that as President that he can just snap his fingers and make it happen. Not so...
