"Abstain from McCain"

avoiding it? they've been

avoiding it? they've been warning us about this for a good 20 years now...

apparently it's what the American people voted for...

they wanted anwar to be a very nice clean place - that they will never ever visit...

I have to say I have heard

I have to say I have heard little by little more and more repubs coming out on television talking about us drilling...we have to do that ect...of course they add in the other talking points of alternative energy, nuclear, shale ect...it is still all being stopped, let alone more refineries.

As far as this poll goes, I think a lot of the GOP was very quiet about this at first since McCain is the guy now and they know his stance, but their own butts are on the line with up coming elections...wait as prices at the pumps climb, more of the GOP is going to come out for drilling...and drilling now.

They had better if they have a brain, along with illegal immigration, protection against terrorist and we have it made in the House and Senate as far as I am concerned...but they have to fight conservatively and hard.

Believe me...I am not forgetting SC Judges as it is always number one on my list...but with what we have facing us, even if McCain picked real conservatives, they would never get through the Judiciary Committee, let alone the Senate.

Republicans are incompetent! Or Wusses! No other reasons

I have complained against the Republican so-called leadership for quite a while.  They have the greatest opportunity in the world to expose the liberals for blocking every attempt to get the US out of a oil crisis.  The libs answer to help the US hardworking citizens deal with the high price of gasoline:  Raise taxes, of course!

If I was an elected official, my handsome mug would be in front of every camera in Washington exposing the total incompetence of the DemonRats.  What do the Republicans do?  Basically nothing at all!

I am no longer a Republican but will always be a conservative!  Here is a article that talks about the Republicans lack of cajones:

Hey jeff...great

Hey jeff...great article...let alone the youtube video is priceless...I am passing it on to most on my email list...I am still laughing...!

Thank you....

I agree with what I have seen of this site to-boot...we need this at times like this to express ourselves!

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Wilson

Thanks Bigtimer!

A friend sent me that video last night and I had to post it immediately!  Shatner is so hilarious!

Thanks for your kind words...it's fun to post and I have linked to Newsbusters (my favorite site!)

Jeff Lebowski

www.angrywhitedude.c...

Jeff the press won't cover Republicans favorably unless

they are "mavericks" like McCain.

Right Dee...they loved McCain before

but they will destroy him now that he is running against the "chosen one."  McPain will learn the hard lesson that Hillary and Bill just learned...they only like you when you fit their purposes!

Jeff Lebowski

www.angrywhitedude.c...

That's for sure Jeff. I think McCain is already learning that

lesson. It could end up changing him for the better. That could be the one positive to come from an Obama Presidency. Senator McCain will no longer be beholden to the media.
It is time for the Republican Party to get together and find a way around the media to get their message out to regular people.

Too little too late, I fear.

Too little too late, I fear.

Thanks for the laugh

I think we could all use that...what happened to make your post so true?

allow me to love

allow me to love America

small percentage of our oil originates in the middle east.

GW had some talks with our Saudi "friends" .

the results are weak.

time to pull the military support.

no planes, no mechanics. the region would be taken over in a week or so of the troops leaving, by some very dangerous folks.

I'm sure oil would be plentiful, and inexpensive, with the 1st plane that was airborne!!

If Johnny Mac

is a really a concerned as a Fiscal conservative, he'd expose how much fed money goes for research to "prove" man-made GW vice what is dedicated to resolve this festering dependency on foreign fuel.

For some reason I don't think it'll happen.

The GOP needs to tell people the truth on Oil

They need to tell people the truth, that only increasing supply and removing taxes and regulation will lower prices, nothing else will work. Senator Inhofe is the only loud voice I ever hear, they should put him in charge of the GOP. Maybe things would get done.

I will be at the Doobies show here in Dallas.  They are playing with Chicago and it should be a great night.  I saw Chicago with Earth, Wind and Fire 2 years ago and they were both fantastic.

On a side note, Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, lead guitarist for the Doobies and also session guy with Steely Dan is now a anti-terrorism expert with a top secret clearance and an office in the Pentagon!  The smart ones always become conservatives!

Incompetence

Incompetence

Poor spelling will fly among mere mortles, but . . .

Anyway, the Republicans need to show a more united front with exploration, but their candidate, John (chicken man) McCain is into flowers and beads over this issue.  Like he said, he was tied up at the time peace love were in bloom.

LYDSEXICS UNTIE

hmm

My first feeling was media... but then if they don't know how their base feels then they are incompetent.

I think they are incompetent ch*cken-sh*ts afraid of the media. D*mned idjuts.

Isn't interesting how I save the name calling for what was my own party?

In case they haven't noticed... the party's over.

Both of us had the same image of chickens when evaluating this question.

I say we refer to him as Juan McNugget henceforth.

Incompetance

 and self-serving cowardice

Prior to 06, for a period the Rs controlled the house, the senate and the white house and they failed to pass an energy bill, the marriage amendment, or overturn roe v wade etc. They were to busy trying to preserve the status quo and feathering their nest. In 06 they got exactly what they deserved but it don't look like they learned much. The only thing they got going for em right now is about 40% of us know the dims will be worse. If they don't grow some backbone and get off they're sorry butts we're screwed again. I would love for a new 3rd party to form and throw all the sorry -astards out.

There are times when I have

There are times when I have to turn off every thing before I snap.

I spent a week at my hunting/fishing camp in the Northern Catskills, last week, No elec, no phone, no TV, I kept the radio off, my nearest neighbor is a mile away. It was a nice break. Every time I see who is going to run this country for the next 4 years I want to puke.

I went into town once to eat breakfast, read the paper, and saw a letter to the editor that the guy was complaining that every one is cutting their grass too much, and if we all stop cutting it weekly that the planet would live for maybe 10 extra years..

Some times you just want to pull in the welcome mat and lock all of the doors...lol.

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Wilson

Save me...

This is showing my age, but back in the '70s &'80s there was a late night talk-radio host on KMOX Radio, 1120AM.  Jim White is/was his name... Also known as "the Big Bumper" as in "things that go bump in the night"...  For years I very much enjoyed his program, but he had one saying that made an impact and quite often returns to haunt me.

He said:  "Save me from the good people", which meant please save me from those who think they know what is best for me.  Save me from libs.  Save me from Hillary.. Save me from the Supreme Court... Save me from the guy that says cutting my grass less often would save us all.

So,  Save me from the good people!

hmmm.... once again...

Looks like I owe an apology to some of our leaders.  But on the other hand it does not excuse them for their pussy-footing around when they were in the position to put these bills on the floor.

It's a love-hate relationship...

I agree

they are not nearly vocal enough or tough enough...

I really do like the refineries on ex military installations...

hell, we paid for them why not use them????

The Republican Party is hopelessly inept.

And it is not just when it comes to this issue, either.

The economy is suffering due to the high energy prices, and the head-up-their-bum republicans are nowhere to be found.

RD ..Where are you Looking to Find them ?

Hell, McCain is running for President and can't get FACE time on MSM.   Obama is sucking up all the MSM air in the Room.

If the MSM can IGNORE the IRAQ WAR Victory...what is their motivation to invite ANY Republican on their Air ways ??

The Republican might say something meaningful and Positive, and the MSM would have to work overtime to cover it up.

Realize that REPUBLICANS can't get AIR TIME..they, like the AMERICAN MAJORITY, are being Ignored.

They would have to HUG A TREE or a POLAR BEAR to get invited on a TV SHOW.

It's the SIN of Omission at Work all over the Alphabet Networks.  We are in a NEWS WAR.......MSM/DEMS against Americans.

The Republican Revolution will not be Televised

I agree Jay Tee

I just said something similar above

I have to agree

JT...

No matter what a Republican does to try and help any give situation... it won't be on the MSM...

But tap your foot in a bathroom......

JayTee, Ronald Reagan got his message out.

And that was despite the liberal MSM.

The republicans could get theirs out, too.

If they actually had one, that is.

RD - Bush got his out enough to get re-elected just like Reagan

When they are in campaign mode and spending the money on advertising and things then they can get out some sort of message.

I was shocked that Bush was able to win in 2004 with how much constant demonization was in the press beforehand. The press does have to cover some of their stump speeches and the advertising also gets the word out. Republicans are extremely disadvantaged with money. Campaign finance made sure of it.
There are not nearly as many 527 groups and billionaire donors for Republicans. Haven't you seen all the issue commercials that the left has been putting out? We really can't compete. It's sad.

RD Helment...I Agree....Reagan ran, and won

We have so many people, busy with their own lives, raising kids, working jobs, living their own lives, and they do NOT even pay attention to what is happening in America, in CONGRESS, or in the Un-Reported war, but I think GAS prices has Gotten their Attention.

If People pay attention, the Majority will Rule...but right now the MSM airways are RULED by the Minority Socialists (one hopes).

$ 4 and 5 $ Gas will focus some attention on Congress..and they will NOT welcome the Attention.

The Economy will be destroyed by Expensive Energy....and the People will be PISSED to learn about ALL the Govt. restrictions on the "Lifestyles" of the SUV owners....and now, Obama has Said "He is FOR higher energy prices, just NOT this Fast".....tsk..tsk...another Gaff.

When you have a $ 30,000 SUV in your Driveway, worth half that much...you start looking for a Scapegoat, and it ain't in the Mirrow.

The Republican Revolution will not be Televised

Not for nothing...

When you misspell the word "incompetence", what does that make you? </sarc>

I voted for

I voted for "incompetence".

Congressional Republicans, for the most part, have stopped listening to their consciences and using their intelligence. I have no idea why. If there was an existing lack of intelligence, you would think that the GOP at the state and national levels would have snuffed it out. And, if that were the case, what we would need to examine is why.

A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.
 -Gerald Ford

Scared of shadows

Just saw this in the Telegraph. I had no idea this is happening even though I am a news junkie!

"Two protesters ( of fuel prices ) died – one in Spain and another in neighbouring Portugal – as
they tried to stop traffic crossing the pickets lines.

Protests were also staged elsewhere in Europe and across Asia. Around 50,000
Polish lorry drivers held one-hour protests across the country although
without blocking roads, the organisers said.

And Dutch truckers announced plans to block roads at 18 points across the
country for 30 minutes on Thursday.

In Thailand truck drivers voted to begin strikes next week and block roads to
the capital with 400,000 lorries unless the government helps them pay for
soaring fuel costs.

While in Hong Kong about 500 minibuses, lorries, garbage trucks and coaches
staged a go-slow protest, crippling traffic in a demonstration calling for
fuel taxes to be scrapped."

I guess George Bush has just screwed everybody, every country, all the time. Amazin', ain't it?

Have not read the whole string

I have not read the whole string yet so this might be covered.  Part of the Republican problem is their inability to get their message out.  If you watch C-Span you can catch moments where they act like the Republicans are expected to act.  You will not, however, see any reporting of the Republican position in the main stream press.  Their incompetence comes from their inability to get on the airwaves and get the message out.  They have been talking about the gas problems and the looming catastrophe if the dhims get their way.

I have made the charge also

I have made the charge also as to the incompetence of GOP leadership when it comes to capitalizing on the issues.  However, to be fair, there are at least two others besides Inhofe who do have some whit:  Dana Rohrarbacher and Kay Bailey Hutchinson.  Kay did a piece on Townhall:  Dana did a great a thorough job on AGW.

It seems a truism that leadership is the ability to get out in front and say clearly what the people believe.

Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, starving the poor one gallon of ethanol at a time. Fill your tank with E85 and cull a village.

This one needed an all of the above choice

Especially the first three of the four. They are all equally valid arguments as to why. I didn't vote either way because I couldn't choose between the options.

It's time for right

It's time for right thinking people to leave the GOP and find a new home.

After promising us the "Contract With America" the GOP has drifted leftward at an increasing rate.

Republicans are such chicken-hearted wussies. All the Left has to do is threaten a Republican with some derrogatory label like "racist," "sexist," or "polluter," and he will fall in line.

Don't know. -- 1%

Because most of the yacht club Exxon boyz are big GOP supporters. -- 33%

The Bush justice dept will hear nothing of Exxon price fixing. -- 33%

Libs didn't close 50 refineries in the last five years, big oil companies did. -- 33%

You idiot libs do know that

You idiot libs do know that Exxon isn't the only domestic oil company, don't you? Hang in there, I'm sure the mother ship will beam than info to you any day now. And how does an entity who controls 3% of the world's oil supply fix the price for the other 97% anyway?

I guess you were sleeping when the 50 or so other investigations that have been carried out came back empty. Next time they should skip the investigation and just lock em' up, right?

To use a description I

To use a description I haven't used since junior high and at the risk of dating myself, it's because the Republicans are a bunch of lame-oes. That's the technical term, I believe.

Republicans just don't get it.

Do the Republicans believe there are a lot of people that enjoy paying over $4.00 per gallon for gasoline?  There are darn few moonbats out there cheering for this rise in prices.

McCain has painted himself into a corner, on this one, but the Republicans could still salvage him by pushing legislation todrill, drill and drill some more.  They need to get the Democrats on record as often as they can, opposing drilling and any measures that will decrease our dependence on foreign oil.  They oppose it all, so one week they can do nuclear power, the next week clean coal technology, and the next week drilling in ANWR.  The American people aren't stupid and the majority do not want to be subservient to people like Hugo Chavez and the Saudi's.

McCain should be able to get Obama to position himself the same as the Dems and then have an epiphany of sorts and say we need to drill, as a stop-gap measure, until we have enough alternative sources on-line, or something like that.

The Democrats really have a death wish, on this issue, and the Republicans should serve it to them, on a platter.

Democrats: Stuck on Stupid since 2000.

Your right, but will he?

I agree 100% but will the GOP take the bate and run, me I have become so  cynical that I no longer believe they will take advantage of their high ground. Although McCain got the GOP endorsement that I never thought he could, so may his subtle way might work considering the Dems are idiots, who knows?

"Television is a freak show" Bernie Goldberg

If the GOP was elected in 2006

saying they had a simple reasonable solution for high gas prices (like Pelosi did) and then the prices rose by double digits in the two years following, the media would re-run the tapes like Mecca.

Then again, you have a Democrat admit they "stetched the truth" about ending the Iraq war (aka lied) and not a peep about it.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Infiltrate the press. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

http://www.uhuh.com/nwo/communism/comgoals.htm

The Real Reason

The real reason for this is the same as so many others. The GOP has become incompetent, corrupt and unwilling to lead in any way. Instead of a shining light they have aimed for just managing to be the lesser of two evils.

It's not <i>just</i> insompetence. If it were they might actually get some things right. With this do-nothing Democrat Congress the GOP should be able to tear Democrats apart, hammering the media, forcing the media to report on how the Dems are corrupt, incompetent and doing the American people no good. They simply don't seem to want to bother anymore, so long as their pockets get lined. As long as the GOP refuses to lead, the American people will believe the propaganda of the news media. They are losing on the topic of gas prices and everythign else because they apparently don't care to try.

Finally, the GOP is showing

Finally, the GOP is showing leadership!  http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080612/pl_nm/usa_congress_energy_dc;_ylt=Apgn_cVcI.0xNrYAc9OHNnAS.MwF
