All of the reasons are probably part of it, but the major reason is that the people doing the hyping have a socialist/one-world political agenda.  What better way to get the whole world to follow one political philosophy than to convince everyone that the whole world is on the brink of disaster and only their leadership can prevent it?

I agree that they are all a part of the hype to some extent or other.  However the hype in a large part, in my opinion, is the result of MSM not doing their homework or research.  They are lazy and selfish.  As an engineer, I cannot afford to miss one iota of relevant information concerning my projects.  Whether I agree with it or not is immaterial.  I cannot afford to create something like the Tacoma-Narrows Bridge event.  Physical truths are physical truths regardless of political bias.

Another reason for the hype is that there is a Republican administration.  If Algore was president, even with a majority (R) congress which did nothing about global warming, there wouldn't be this type of hype and hyper-ventilation about it.

Oh, and one other thing.  The War-Slut forgot that along with Muslim, Christian, and Jewish warriors, there are the Green extremist warriors such as the murdering Ted Kazinski and the PETA sponsored Animal Leberation Front as well as the Earth Liberation Front. 

She also seems to have forgotten that with all religions-sponsored deaths over the last five centuries, they total number pales in comparison with the over 100 million lives snuffed out by communisum just in the last century.

I see this as an attempt by the "gumamint" to impose further restrictions on the general population.  If we the people are convinced, or at least enough of us are, that our behavior is causing climatic change and the resultant disasters; then when the federal government mandates what cars we can drive, where we buy fuel, what our homes should be made of, what kind of pets we can have, well, then we will have nirvana, right here in the good ole US of A.  The MSM is just doing their part in spreading the gospel of Al.

Actually I think a combination of the offered choices is more accurate. There is still considerable rage about Gore's loss, the global warming hysteria crowd works the compliant liberal press well, and, in an effort to cover all of the bases, the business community are beginning to capitalize on the profitabilty available within this issue. Unmentioned, but important none the less, the efforts of the opposing side, climate change is normal and natural, are making large strides at publicising the hysteria of the global warming alarmists and educating people about the facts and science involved. They have been effective at exposing the hypocracy and deception promulgated by the alarmists as well. That these efforts have been effective is illustrated by the increased hue and cry from those alarmists also.

I think the current global warming blitz is a panicked response to all of the CREDIBLE information that has come out in the last six months that totally blows away Gore's propaganda.  They are feeling the heat, so they are trying to turn it up, themselves.  Problem is, they're attempting to keep a flame burning while they are quickly running out of gas.

The current level of hysteria is because of the situation: the IPCC propaganda and the MSM's relentless promotion have brainwashed a lot of people. But they still don't have majority acceptance. Surveys in UK and US both show that 25% (US) and 50% (UK) have been deceived. But that leaves a lot of people unconvinced.

And the weather is not helping. No big storm season. Global temperatures are not soaring. The "science" is slowly disintegrating as more research becomes available.

The time of AGW is fast coming to an end. And when is the most frenetic time in a bubble market? Just before the bust, when everyone seems to go nuts. Then the whole thing tanks.

The AGW "bubble" has been bubbling along for a while on the momentum of every nutbag, leftwinger and political hack joining in. But reality can only be denied for a limited time.

The MSM has taken to AGW since it fits with their desire to ditch journalism for activism. They aren't reporting news and issues. They are saving the world. And from all those people they don't like - conservatives, rich people, governments - they always knew they were evil, but as long as the economy was booming, the conservatives seem to be winning. Now comes proof - the conservatives are destroying the world, and only leftwingers can save it.

The only problem is that while they have been loyal tools to the AGW socialists they haven't suceeded in their mission. They certainly tried: pumping out stories about warming, promoting stunts, faithfully parroting the stupidest nonsense as long as it referred to global warming. And the skeptics? Well it was a journalist who came up with the denier label. Critics of AGW have been marginalized and you have to wonder how many scientists chose not to speak out against the junk science crowd when they knew the media would lampoon them, but they would lauded if they went along with the scam.

Global warming isn't the problem. Global dumbing is.

It's simple really, to control your life by prohibitively taxing anything that Al Gore & his ilk think destroys mother earth. You know, SUVs & light bulbs among other things. It is there nest big attempt to gain a foothold to global socialism. They must never be allowed to succeed, they will destroy our nation if they can force a radical green agenda down the throats of Americans. I usually never miss a chance to tell them where to stick thier agenda.
