July 23, 2007 - 16:59 ET by ThisnThatI think they are simply rude and ill-mannered, enhanced by their feeling of entitlement and sense of privlege. They've been told at various times that they can always have their way, and when challanged on this, they become angry and act like spoiled children.

Rude and ill-mannered and totally bereft of facts to back up their feelings.
When called on said lack of logic (and facts), they become angry & rude, and resort to name calling. If they can ***liberally*** sprinkle alot of four-letter words around, so much the better.
Bad manners. Horrible manners, actually.

July 23, 2007 - 18:20 ET by general companyI agree, it isn't that they are not smart. It is they don't get their own way, so they rant and rave like little kids. I work with many liberals, whether it is politics or any other subject if they must put forth any effort they will resist with all of their means, some are just flat lazy. But if you need some info from them, they are usually more then happy to show off their intellect. The liberals are harder to deal with, always with the excuses or long answers to short problems. I point this out to them so they don't waste my time.
I don't question their intelligence,

As for their sense of entitlement, a short story. One of my first run-ins with a Lib was with one of my co-workers many, many years ago. We were talking about how we each paid thru college. He said "I simply went on welfare". I asked why, and how could he justify something like that? His answer: "Because I knew I would graduate and get a good-paying job, and would have to pay taxes -- and that would make up for it. So, society owed it to me to pay my way so I could pay it back".
Some might call it the "me" generation. I think it's self-absorbed selfishness, guided by a broken moral compass.

All of the above and more
July 23, 2007 - 17:17 ET by Lame CherryI had to go with angrier audience, but it is more ALL of the above.
One has to understand the liberal psychology. Liberals are failures at being individuals. I will bet when the founders of this site and bloggers were told NO or had failures like Matthew in revamping the site having to rewrite the program none of them quit.
They indured the failure, the shame and the frustration and overcame to God's glory.
A liberal as a child instead cried, blamed someone else and then looked for other failures to join, so they would not be alone and then empower themselves.
Take for example this site. It expects a certain manners and expects people to live up to them. KOS and Huffington let everyone in as those people are profit bound first to empower them and they find safety in numbers.
Liberals get angry because they are scared. They know they are failures and they only feel safe when they have a Bill Clinton in power which they somehow think they share in. Bill is a winner so they are winners........that is one reason of many why they hate George Bush even though he passed most of their liberal agenda. Bush being a winner makes them a looser.
A liberal then exists in fear all their life. They can't call the police as their debauchery will get them arrested. They loathe the military as it brings order and liberals only gain power in anarchy. They hate Christians as they remind them of God who they deny exists (the know He does) but will have to face Him in judgement.
All of that is why they legislate "sin" to be legal, because it is a salve to their psyche that if Hilllary says it is ok to destroy yourself literally as a sodomite for example then all is a lie to give comfort another day. I have always maintained liberals are the worst hateful people to gay people in they tell them to basically go die, instead of asking about what it is that makes them define all they are by a sex act. No normal hetero defines themself by a sex act no more than they would allow themselves to be defined whether their navel was in our out. Liberals though cling to government policy, agencies, groups and cliques who enable all they do instead of trying to help each individual overcome weaknesses.
That is the all of the above which will not fit into a poll question, but I always feel great sympathy for the foul mouthed mean people on there as they are just venting hatred at others, because every night they have to live in nightmares they hate themselves and awake to that same terror each day.
That is what is on KOS and that is what is driving Democrats. Bill Clinton even admitted he has changed from the angry person who was savaging women. If Bill Clinton can do it with apparent influence from being around the Bush family, perhaps there is hope in the chastisement rod of Newsbusters for the liberal sites.
Newsbusters as already got them shutting down blogs so no liberal can comment and is warning liberals to stop screaming the F word in every blog.
It has to be changed though in the heart..........I will not say Bill Clinton is reformed, but at least with positive direction he is not as bad as he was. Every liberal has to change one at a time in not being afraid of themselves and forgiving themselves for being absolute failures living as cowards in groups. That is a very hard addictive psychopathy to stay out of.

There are exceptions to everything. That said, what is mentioned here is relevant in the characterization of well into the 90th percentile of liberals up to and including the DEATH wishes of Republican leadership. You don't have to be a blind liberal not to see it, just an ignorant one to deny it.

July 23, 2007 - 19:07 ET by mvfreemanSo are we talking about liberal politicians or all liberals as a whole?
I have several relatives who would define themselves as liberal and they are not remotely the way Lameness portrays them.
Apparently it's just me but I like to get to know a person as an individual and don't base my entire opinion of them because of their political leanings.
And really folks, the instant knee-jerk labeling is about as lazy as can be. Just because my opinion may differ from yours on this topic doesn't make me a liberal or anything else.
Try looking at people with something other than the narrow lens of politics. Most people aren't rabid partisans or idealogues.

"So are we talking about liberal politicians or all liberals as a whole?"
Read much? Check the title again.
Why do left-wing blogs use profanity more than conservative/libertarian ones?
We are talking blogs and the left here. Daily Kook, Democraticunderground, and on and on and on. The hate is FAR more prevailant on the left than on the right. Just look at what goes on in college campuses every time a Conservative attempts to speak. All hell breaks loose.
"Try looking at people with something other than the narrow lens of politics. Most people aren't rabid partisans or idealogues. "
I stopped doing that after Reagan got elected and the liberals and kooks on the left went nuts. The kook fringe left doesn't want to get along. All they know is hate, and realists like myself call them out on it every time. They call us "Nazis" and "hate mongers" and "bigots" solely because they don't agree with what we believe in (the individual for starters). It has only escalated since W. Bush got elected (or "selected" or "stole" the election as the geniuses on the left tell us). The rabid vitriol has spilled over into mainstream newspapers and media establishments like MSNBC and Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann and the New York Times, which has degraded itself to one big OpEd for the Democrat[ic] Party.
You can deny it and pull the wool over your eyes all you want, but that's the dead honest truth. Obviously with all the comments here, I am not the only one who understands it.
And another thing - why do you liberals always deny being one?

July 23, 2007 - 20:20 ET by mvfreemanOk Freud. What in my comments automatically makes me a liberal?
I said there was name calling by both sides and excused neither.
I believe there is a liberal media. That's why I come to this site.
Not everyone who is liberal or conservative wears their political affiliation on their sleeve or visits political websites. Lame Cherry's diatribe came across as an indictment of anyone who is liberal.
Just because one is smeared is no excuse to engage in the same practice. You can refute it with intellectual honesty and integrity. I guess that's too much to ask.
I have never voted for a democrat and my son went to one of the most conservative colleges in the country.
And another thing. Why do people here insist on labeling anyone who has a different opinion a liberal?
Freud? Hmmmm...
July 23, 2007 - 21:52 ET by Nforce"Ok Freud. What in my comments automatically makes me a liberal?"
Because A) you mentioned Freud, one of the many favorite topics of the left, B) you are still here responding to me, and C) you are still trying to defend yourself and become a magic centrist to avoid any conflict because you are "above" being left or right. In my nearly 15 years of internet experience (with what we now call blogs) liberals never allow someone else to get the last word in and let things go, and they always avoid confrontation.
"And another thing. Why do people here insist on labeling anyone who has a different opinion a liberal?"
Uhm, because most of us have been dealing with you "centrists" for years and can smell you a mile away? Are you starting to feel like a brown shoe in a blog of tuxedos yet?
So you are saying there is
July 23, 2007 - 22:13 ET by mvfreemanSo you are saying there is no middle ground. If you click on the link I posted earlier it says that 38% of voters consider themselves independents. I realize that is an approximation but it is still a sizable percentage. Why is it that politicians of either party move to the center during the general election? Because most voters aren't ideological extremists.
And how am I responding to you and avoiding confrontation at the same time?
As far as my being a liberal all you are doing is making an assumption on preconceived notions.
Centrist does not = liberal. But then I never claimed to be a centrist. My conservativeness is different from yours. Why is that so hard to believe? There can't be differing opinions within?
And mentioning Freud is a dead give away to being liberal? Come on. That is preposterous.
On complete intellectual dishonesty
July 23, 2007 - 23:44 ET by UnsaneLet's dispense with the intellectual dishonesty, shall we? Great. So you are an "independent", which by definition is one who does not belong to a political party. No one here cares if you are a Republican or a Democrat or whatever, what we care about is if you are Right or Left-wing. I have been posting here for nearly 18 months and the longtime posters and audience knows that I am Right-wing, in spite of me not belonging to a political party and living in a state with open primaries. (Of course, there is my beloved "Unsane Party"...)
I, incidentally, have no problem being considered a Rightist.

July 24, 2007 - 00:13 ET by Mean Gene Dr. LoveHere's how I easily answer the question: I am an Independent because the Republican Party is not conservative enough to suit my views. Most people that claim to be conservatives are quite a bit to the left of me. I am of the thought that this country has made it so you can practice whatever religion you want, so long as it does not endanger peoples lives. Don't get me wrong. I see the hypocrasy that is constantly on display by bashing only Christians. I hate the media bashing Christianity when I have yet to see anything wrong with it.
Please don't preach "holier than Thou" to people. It's arrogant. Unless, of course, you are comparing any Muslim religion to Christianity. I don't see Christians targeting civilians. Come to think of it, I don't see Christians targetting anything.

July 23, 2007 - 17:20 ET by Sorceress17My dad always said people swear when they can't think of anything better to say. He said he raised us to be well-spoken, so he expected us not to swear (unless necessary. The man was a fighter pilot, he knew there are sometimes no alternatives to invective).
Since liberals are rarely well-spoken and obviously have no desire to plan an well-thought-out argument, they resort to swearing.

Poor Manners
July 23, 2007 - 17:47 ET by River CityI think the reason they use the bad language has to do with general poor manners.
I believe poor manners go back to if you defer to someone it is like saying they are better or more important than you. This is why parents don't make their kids say "sir" or "thank you" any more. They don't use that language because they feel it demeans them so they don't teach it to their kids. I have actually heard this from people so I know it to be true. Example: "I'm not going to call him sir, he is no better than me." This is why I feel they use the language they do. It is to bring everyone down to their level.
I have to vote other or is it all of the above?
July 23, 2007 - 18:04 ET by Felicia LuceIf you can't baffle them with BS, bully them with bad language so they will shut up and not confuse you.
I have been bullied with bad language on blog sites. If I state an opinion that doesn't coincide with their rhetoric, I get ganged up on, until finally I just leave, which translates to them as defeat. There is no logic to the argument. I have had better debates with my teenager.
I have to justify every opinion I have, and there is no accountability on their side. I need to read Ann Coulter's "How To Talk To A Liberal, If You Must" one more time and take notes.

July 23, 2007 - 18:55 ET by LighthouseJI thought I posted this but it apparently didn't make it.
I've talked to liberals and they behave like any other group of people that run out of things to say but don't want their side to fail. It's like watching the daytime talk shows where the black women try to shout, clap their hands in time with their works, all in attempts to overtake the discussion. They equate the other guy not talking to success.
I've demonstrated where liberals memes fail and the only thing liberals answer back with are gross generalizations about my character or views or discussing something else unrelated. They do anything they can to raise the stakes because it means so much to them that they reaffirm the correctness at least in their mind. They are so convinced they are right and anybody who disagrees with them is wrong, and an idiot for being wrong, so the superiority complex kicks in.

I checked low intelligence because I, too, have been told over and over again that cursing reflects a laziness of learning. Why bother to burn grey matter thinking of the correct way to express yourself when you can simply drop the F-bomb - over and over and over again?
For the sixty years I have
July 23, 2007 - 23:57 ET by JerFor the sixty years I have known my mom, the worst word I have ever heard spoken by her was "damn" [twice]....My father, God rest his soul, never uttered a profanity. (If he did, which I doubt, my brother, sister, and I never heard it.)
In my teenage years, the guys who swore more frequently, generally tended to be conservative, but the language didn't particularly bother me (unless it was spoken in mixed company). During college, in my estimation, the use of profanity was about evenly divided between liberals and conservatives. Unquestionably, the most foul language to which I was ever exposed, was that employed by my drill sergeants in basic training--and they were certainly not liberals. But neither their language nor politics lessened my respect for them.
Over the past few decades, it is almost impossible to quantify, but, in my view at least, crude speech, incivility, and hateful rhetoric comes in all political stripes. And profanity does not necessarily suggest a lack of intelligence, for example Dick Cheney appears to be extraordinarily bright.
Being a Democrat who has listened to a great deal of conservative talk radio, I can assure you that liberals have no corner on the "politics of personal attack" market. I have listened to one talk show host lament the fact that firing squads weren't available to take care of Bill Clinton and agree with a caller who "joked" about commandeering a C-130, flying over the White House and "putting an incendiary shell up that boy's [Clinton's] ass".
On the other hand, in the Wild West atmosphere of the internet, there has been plenty of outrageous and indefensible rhetoric employed by the Left. The remark on Whiskey Dog directed at Noel Sheppard is a prime example. It angers and saddens me.

John Roberts loses it.
July 24, 2007 - 00:27 ET by shawn228No Vulgarity here. John Roberts has some inscripted laughter at Mitt Romneys expense. I thought it was pretty funny. Not sure how many of you agree with me though. Click on the video on bottom of article.

I enjoyed the last comment by lori- " there's no fucking sound."
Sheesh lori it's just the sound on your computer, I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation. No need to get all F-word on everyone.
Btw- I left 2 comments there as "this one goes to 11" Since they preview comments before published, I'm waiting to see if they put them up.
I guess we should ask again.

Crude language of liberals
July 24, 2007 - 06:51 ET by kiwikitIs their right because they see themselves as the 'elite' who are not governed by any rules. They also haven't got legitimate arguments so 'calling names' is the modus operandi. They are pathetic. . . and stupid as well because they must know that their language puts off people who are able to think for themselves and won't read their blogs. I spend at least three hours / day on blogs but manage to eschew all those including four-letter words.

July 24, 2007 - 07:07 ET by Cool ArrowI'm not against the occasional word used in emphasis, but so many of these modern day Tolstoys leave one wanting to hop into the shower after reading their putrescent offerings.
This trend will not clear up soon. Now a fourth generation has passed through posterior orifice of public education, each contributing its own impetus to the downward spiral flush.

July 24, 2007 - 12:12 ET by Duke WayneLiberals feel they have a superior intellect. When mingling, they elicit support from others who agree with their position. However, when confronted by anyone armed with factual information, data, surveys, or studies that refute the liberal position, they resort to shouting, profanity, and name calling, generally idiot, nazi, biggot, or racist. I've come to appreciate the old cliche, "you can't win a pissin' contest with a skunk."

Or, argue with ignorance, or have a battle of wits with an unarmed a person. Words to live by for sure, know your adversary.
