August 30, 2007 - 12:00 ET by Chidi NwachukhuI'll help you: "The necessaries of life occasion the great expense of the poor. They find it difficult to get food, and the greater part of their little revenue is spent in getting it. The luxuries and vanities of life occasion the principal expense of the rich, and a magnificent house embellishes and sets off to the best advantage all the other luxuries and vanities which they possess. A tax upon house-rents, therefore, would in general fall heaviest upon the rich; and in this sort of inequality there would not, perhaps, be anything very unreasonable. It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion"

August 29, 2007 - 21:28 ET by Lame CherryThe reason has nothing to do with journalism or reporters, but is the reason you find pedophiles infilitrating the Boy Scouts, teaching and the priesthood..........people with a fetish are drawn to where they can easily feed the fetish.
I explained what drives liberals is failure, fear and hatred from childhood psychopathies. The reason though is beyond what Richard Nixon even observed that Conservatives tend to enjoy the battle in economic fields while Liberals enjoy the protected spheres of media, teachers etc...
The reason Liberals are in media is what Phil Donahue revealed long ago. He stated he would not run for Congress because he would never get elected. That explains and denotes the cowardice of Liberals and the measure they take to try and govern people who reject them.
Liberals want to be loved (to justify their self worth), watched (to feed their low esteem) and to make a difference (to deal with their helplessness). In this is why Liberals are so attracted to global warming.......if man is powerful to shape the earth then there is no need for God and man (Liberals) can shape their own destiny out of their misery.
Liberals seek the media to brow beat people into change so they can be justified in their failings. These creatures in the MSM care nothing about the Truth or a story. The only thing they care about is their agenda to change the world to increase their security.
Honestly if tomorrow selling suckers.......or make it as perverse as aborticide........if selling bombs to children would accomplish what a Liberal deems is necessary to give them security, then the world would have thousands of Liberals selling bombs to children.
Media just gives Liberals the conditions they need to feel empowered, directing other's destiny and shaping views.........it is why so many teachers are Liberals too, they all need these niches of control because they are out of control.
Liberals are those ditzy cheerleaders in high school who looked down on others, were amoral, had an addiction to attention and lusted for power.......the cheerleaders just get old and frumpy, but Liberals go into media and carry on their wayward ways.

Media and Liberals
August 29, 2007 - 23:03 ET by idahobeefI have always thought that the smart people go where the money is, that's why most (smart) Republicans go into law, corporate, or medical fields instead of media. Very few smart people go into the journalism field because the pay is poor, the hours long, etc.
Liberals and the media
August 30, 2007 - 06:53 ET by pocomocoLiberals consider themselves the social conscience of society, and what better way to disseminate their ideas and theories than through the media.
The liberals of today are the remnants of the Woodstock peace, love, and dope generation who are now embedded as editors in most of the media outlets as daily they tell us what is wrong with our society.
But, their Age Of Aquarius is fast coming to a close as their media outlets are finding less and less people willing to listen to them as they push their liberal agendas and rewrite history to suit those agendas.
Liberals in the media, to no ones chagrin, have become the object of their own destruction.

You want the REAL truth?
August 30, 2007 - 03:52 ET by BritcomWhy Is Big Media Dominated by Liberals? The reason is simple, but multi-faceted.
When the internet hit, all of a sudden, all of the conservative rural and suburban people discovered that they were not alone and began networking with each other just like liberal people do in the city. The effect of this came as a shock to those liberal city people because all of a sudden they were outnumbered by the sheer volume of rural and suburban people when they got together on an issue and reported it in the new media (i.e. radio and the internet) The old media responded by circling the wagons and trying to ignore what was going on outside, but because the cat is now out of the bag, the old liberal media lies and propaganda no longer work, their old customer base is drying up before their very eyes, but they continue to operate as if nothing has happened and probably will continue to be in denial until they either get bought out, or are forced to close their doors.
Now that some of their kin have been forced to downsize or close, the old liberal media have a new response, not to change, but to lash out at the new media, first they tried to say that the new media reporters were not "real" journalists, but when that didn't work, they tried to attack the bigger conservative journalists in an attempt to discredit them, when that didn't work, they tried to compete with them directly in their own markets, when that didn't work either they came up with their latest tactic, trying to resurrect their long dead best friend, the "fairness" doctrine. That will fail too.
What will they come up with next? They will try to throw the upcoming election and then get the government to fund them with taxpayer money. Suprise, surprise.

Thursday, January 10, 1963 :
15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.

do it in our daily lives in how we act and what we do - small acts of

includes parenting, setting a good moral example, etc.
A liberal entering the 'news media' has a mission - a mission to change the

Liberalism Generates News.....
August 30, 2007 - 09:32 ET by OiznopI voted "other," because liberalism generates news and contraversy. No one wants to hear about some White guy who goes out and busts his butt making a living to support his wife and two kids, who all live in suburbia. No one wants to report on stories of people like this, who are active with their churches and schools. People who have American values and morals. Stuff like this is boring! Not sexy enough for print or air time. Journalists want to report on the oppressed black man who commits crimes because of the socio-economic conditions of his community. So people who don't buy this crap feel guilty. They want to report on the leftist American radical who has nothing better to do but scream at the top of their lungs over some stupid issue like global warming. That's where the action is!
I voted "other" primarily
August 30, 2007 - 10:04 ET by EvilRoyI voted "other" primarily due to a situation that a friend encountered while he was in college. He always intended to go into journalism and at the time he was liberal, as are most college students, at least we were in the 1970's. But he quickly realized that the journalism professors weren't liberal, they were marxist. He couldn't stomach the curriculum and finally dropped out. He always suspected the ones that persevered probably thought they were real moderates when they compared themselves to their professors. Then when they actually began working in the field the only ones to advance were the really liberal ones, so once they entered the "club" and made friendships and professional contacts , their path to the darkside was complete.

Now, their power is fading due to the internet, FOX news, talk radio and other forms of communication. That's why those mediums are so hated by the MSM. Not only has their power been diminished, they're going out of business.

A high percentage of college graduates identify themselves as liberal.
Therefore, you could argue, that most of the people applying for journalism jobs are going to be liberal.
Seems pretty simple to me. I often hear this general complaining that the MEDIA (as if it's some big nebulous organism) is biased. This is not really true. The media isn't biased, the individuals running the media are biased.
So if you want to fight bias, you have to change the individuals, not the organization. How do you do this is? Get more conservatives going to school for journalism.

August 30, 2007 - 11:41 ET by tenthreeleaderThe journalist's mantra is to question. However, where journalists fail is when they question only one side of a given equation.
My degree is in journalism. Without questioning you are often unable to provide perspective on a story that will make it interesting and viable to the reader or consumer.
However, when a journalist tells you he or she isn't biased, that person is lying and can't help it. EVERYONE has a bias - a worldview, a belief system if you will - and it cannot be avoided. The field of journalism has always attracted left-wing inclined people because it is portrayed as a medium to effect change instead of a medium to accurately report events.
Money
August 30, 2007 - 11:57 ET by jswanagonI do agree with a lot of the posts on here that say it is because of
college, but I voted other for another reason entirely. I think the press is
mainly liberal because of money. The press (MSM at any rate), generally make a
pretty good living, I would place most of them above middle class and some well
into upper class (TV news figures).
Now to my point, what is the Democratic major rally cry? I realize that it is
different every election and you never know what crisis they are going to make
up each go around, but there is one thing they always go for. "Less taxes for
the poor, more taxes for the rich. We're for the little guy and are out to get
the big money grubbing capitalists."
So, now that we know this, lets take a look at the democratic supporters.
The people with the money. That's right, the dominantly rich in this country
are the ones supporting the Democratic party. Folks like George Sorros. If you
look at the upper class in this country I bet you would find that a very high
percentage of them vote Democrat.
Anyway, what I am saying is that most of the upper
crust of the MSM have money and they want to keep it. Hence they will vote
Democrat. And will do anything in their power to persuade others to as
well.
Answered all of the above.
August 30, 2007 - 12:02 ET by VT Con ManAnswered all of the above. Each has some merit in the situation.
The "make a difference" crowd is probably the highest percentage. These journo-whiners think they can generate societal change by spreading their social blather in "reports" on all things liberal.
Thank God for Conservative writings, websites, books and magazines. They help to balance out the "Old Media", who, of course will not acknowledge their blatant Leftness.
It's part of the liberal
August 30, 2007 - 12:39 ET by Chris NormanIt's part of the liberal mission - to "change" things.
Some go into politics and government. Some go into teaching. Some go into journalism. It's all part and parcel of an activist philosophy.
My problem with that is I don't think teaching and journalism should be used to change things. They should both be agenda-less. That's why I'd prefer they stick to "reporting" - it's that "journalism" thing that leads to bias and advocacy reporting.

}}---> Home of Libs and Unions
August 30, 2007 - 12:58 ET by Cool ArrowThe role of Broadcasters Unions in sculpting the news is never addressed in print, radio, or TV. Speaking as one who has worked many years in a very weak Union environment, it is obvious Management will concede or taboo any social issue espoused by Organized Labor. They just want to get along.
Union Politics are Democrat Politics.
There is no study to date (that I'm aware of) examining the effect of Unions on the MSM. I suspect there never will be.

Lewis knew the liberal
August 30, 2007 - 15:00 ET by FlashmanLewis knew the liberal mindset long ago. Seatbelts, talking on a cellphone, cigarettes, transfats, motorcycle helmets, medicine, firearms, educational admission requirements, fat taxes, thought crimes, wealth transfers, etc etc etc. Their list just grows and grows and liberals see journalism as the way of promoting these things, that's why it's so attractive to them.
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."

August 30, 2007 - 17:16 ET by RecklessConservativeLiberals dont like the way others live their life....and they feel it is their position to fix this.....and newspapers are just a tool to get their version of the way things ought to be out there.

August 30, 2007 - 20:52 ET by rob6677I think all of the above are good reasons!
However I'd say the most important reason is that they (libs) need the attention and are willing to bend for it (ratings). Unfortunately, sometime after they get that attention, they end up in a position to make sure all the angry villagers have torches and sharpened pitchforks to drive away most honest people (conservative) from the profession.

They are out of touch
August 30, 2007 - 21:30 ET by Dee BunkI think many in the media start out much more conservative or at least middle of the road, but as they become wealthier and hob knob with celebrities their world view gets clouded and they forget what it's like to be a regular person.
