Just a matter of obvious

Just a matter of obvious deduction here for the answer.

Pretty pathetic for our country too with the shortage of conservative friendly media outlets...hope it changes with time.

A different choice

I would have opted for another choice had it been provided...

Not enough news-friendly media outlets. Almost all the "news" is run through filters to say as little as possible about reality... to a point that it's no longer news but propaganda... on all sides.

Or maybe I'm just too old.

}}---> Another choice

The MSM is overrun with UNIONS.  Rather than deal with UNIONS in house, management foists the UNION agenda on the public.

  • I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous

Journalism is not a real

Journalism is not a real job. It's more of a hobby, like flower arranging or interior decorating;  a passtime for the cynical, the effete and the otherwise self-absorbed.

The real reason

I voted but the real reason is CONSERVATIVES ARE NOT GOSSIPS LOOKING TO MANIPULATE PEOPLE.

Ask a liberal why they are reporters and it is to "change the situation" or "tell a story". That translates into inflicting your will on another through manipulation and being a gossip.

Conservates do not have the soul or conscience to use deception to form people and are taught early in Christian ideals not to gossip.

This is one reason liberals despise Christianity as it tells them daily they are sinners.

*HIC IACET ARTORIVS REX QVONDAM REXQVE FVTVRVS

huh?

I'm a liberal and a christian....................which means I don't despise Christianity.  Seems you're gossiping right now.  Or lying.

either way it looks like you're a sinner too.

A Christian

A Christian Liberal?

That must cause some real issues for you in the voting booth.

Do you support abortion?

The only thing you should feel when shooting insurgents is the rifle recoil.

Liberal and Christian as

Liberal and Christian as being a liberal in todays terms is not possible.

Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.

I'm sorry, but that HAS to

I'm sorry, but that HAS to deserve "the treatment".

IM LIBERAL AN CHRISTIAN....................WHICH MEANZ I DOAN DESPIZE CHRISTIANITY.  SEEMS URE GOSIPIN RITE NAO.  OR LYIN.

EITHR WAI IT LOOKZ LIEK URE SINNR 2.

I voted but the real reason

I voted but the real reason is CONSERVATIVES ARE NOT GOSSIPS LOOKING TO MANIPULATE PEOPLE.

LC...I am going to add to that... Manipulate and Destroy people.

They do it with such pleasure too...

Just my two cents.

no correct answer

Conservatives are in journalism largely for the need to "control".

similar to why liberals are large in education and government jobs.

They need to control the information or system. I don't think conservatives need this.

"everymorning and everyday, I bossa nova with you"

On the contrary Oklahoma...

Conservatives aren't trying to 'control' anything. We are simply trying to offset the DNC press release machine AKA the MSM. When they demand talk show hosts be fired and shut down, it's for 'fairness', but when conservatives have legitimate business outlets (the very few that there are) they are all but fire bombed. Somebody is attempting control and it isn't conservatives.

Journalism used to mean something. Now it is nothing more than opining with virtually ZERO fact checking. The 'news' as we know it will soon be reduced to 'Access Hollywood', and we'll get all the gossip we want. The MSM lies to us on an hourly basis by omission. It's traitorous.

"I don't give DAMN what you think you're entitled too."

Control

Didnt you get the memo, it is a case of trying to control and manipulate if a journalist dares to venture away from the "Bush is bad, Bush is Hitler" playbook. Comrade Dean said so.

Texas has a population of nearly 21 million people, all of whom are ashamed to be from the same state as the Dixie Chicks. (IMAO.us)

CONSERVATIVEZ R IN

CONSERVATIVEZ R IN JOURNALISM LARGELY 4 DA NED 2 "CONTROL".

SIMILAR 2 Y LIBERALS R LARGE IN EDUMACASHUN AN GUBMENT JOBS.

THEY NED 2 CONTROL TEH INFORMASHUN OR SISTEM. I DOAN FINKZ CONSERVATIVEZ NED DIS.

CONSERVATIVIZ OR WHATEVER

Grow up before you make us all throw up!

Conservative media outlets needed

Conservative journalists don't want to work where their work will be stifled, edited, or twisted to fit the liberal line.  Unfortunately, the cost of entry to start a radio or TV station, a newspaper, or a magazine shuts most conservatives out of establishing competing outlets.

When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.

Orwellian but true.

Choices 4 and 6 are basically equivalent.

If you're a conservative, and you can stomach the Liberal claptrap you get at college, and can stay under the radar, you might...might...get a job, but your work will be edited out.

If you cover a story on, say, the number of abortion deaths, or on environmentalism's contribution to the wildfires, etc., you will be boxed out.

If you get marked as a non-conformist to the Liberal PC view, you'll be black-balled.

The same goes for all media, or all information conduits.  The Liberal gatekeepers are on 24 hour guard against the infiltration of conservative thought.

If they can somehow figure a way to control the internet and talk radio, they will - and they have been trying.

Reporting facts isn't good

Reporting facts isn't good enough anymore. In a world of reality TV and ambush journalism, people just don't care about straight news.

I was a photo-journalism major in my youngers days of college (because they didn't have a "photography" program...had to add the journalism aspect). One of the assignments we had was covering the same story in 3 different newspapers. I chose the LA Times, Chicago Sun-Tribune, and the NY Times. From coast to coast the spin was amazing. Even stories which came across the AP wire were totally different. They can pick and choose the elements of the story they want and completely change the complexion or meaning of a story. We've seen it with guys like M. Moore and his selective editing process, the whole Limbaugh "phony soldiers" and BO'R and his dinner with Sharpton. Since those days I have refused to subscribe to any newspaper...

Right out of college I worked for several local papers taking the photos of breaking stories while travelling alongside the actual reporters. The spin some of these folks would put on stories was absolutely amazing. After reading the stories they wrote about the events I photographed I was completely dismayed. It was as if they were 2 seperate incidents. I couldn't take it for very long and ultimately got a job for a sports magazine shooting action and sporting events. It's harder to lie about the final score of a football game or change the outcome of a surfing meet or motorcycle race...

To this day I read and watch the news with a hypo-critical eye. I would love to get back into journalism or be a documentarian, but, I'm afraid there isn't a market for someone like me who wants to be objective and portray the events without a slant. I'm afraid that type of journalism died a long time ago. Maybe I'm being overly cynical, but, that's what I've learned (and I've been around the block a time or two...I'm no pup.).

That's my $0.02....

I've met several

who've had similar experiences.

I also think you meant "hyper-critical."

"hyper" indeed...

...thanks for the correction, Matt. Sometimes the fingers go faster than the mind while trying to get the basic thoughts down. :^) The point though is still the same. I couldn't get a job even if I tried... (although, the more I think about it, the more I'm intrigued with the possibility/concept).

You tell us.  You're the

You tell us.  You're the journalist here.  Have any of you tried to get a job in the drive by media or have you worked in the drive by media?  If so, what have been your experiences there?

My guess is most

My guess is most conservatives are not, by nature, "crusaders". What I'd like to see are students graduating who aspire to be workman-like reporters and not "crusading journalists" - liberal or conservative.

Let's go with a NewsBusted

Let's go with a NewsBusted response. Why aren't more conservatives interested in straight journalism?

1. I am interested in only straight journalism. I told you I reached down to remove the NYT from my shoe, not to solicit a copy of the Village Voice from the guy in the stall next to me.

2. Too nauseous from working with people who smell like patchouli all the time.

3. Our hard-hitting stories keep getting turned into Jumbles.

4. Tired of editors assigning us to cover Gay Olympics, then snickering at us.

5. Harmful radiation caused by global warming has weakened my resolve.

6. "Straight" journalism? I tell ya', liberals will do anything to make an issue about sex, won't they?

Are you going to be here

Are you going to be here all week, or do we get a reprieve?

"There are two types of people in this country; those who provide freedom and those who enjoy it." MM says...

LETS GO WIF NEWSBUSTD

LETS GO WIF NEWSBUSTD RESPONSE. Y ARENT MOAR CONSERVATIVEZ INTERESTD IN STRAIGHT JOURNALISM?

Wow...that's a lot of pent

Wow...that's a lot of pent up rage there, fella. Relax, maybe listen get out your Paul Anka records.

Wow...bal, "rage?"

Looks like he struck some kind of a nerve there, fella. Your response tells more about you than it does that poster.

Relax, get out your Tiny Tim records and think about parody, good and bad.   ;^>

Until a few short years ago

Until a few short years ago there was no such thing as 'straight journalism'. With the very few outlets that do REAL reporting it takes time for the word to get out. It doesn't help that the MSM bash these outlets whenever possible.

Many Conservatives have never seen straight journalism until recently.

after working in the news media there is discrimination

liberal discrimination in the newsrooms most definately exists and you may get away with just being clean cut and non confrontational but you will never grow, if you jump on the bandwagon and really ride it hard you can get far, but you stand out and oppose, you'll be marked and hacked up. the only person i know who can get away with it is john stossel, but i think he learned how to play the liberals game and is willing to use it against them, something most conservatives don't do....play dirty. you know he walks around with a target on his back everywhere he goes.

This is another 2 answer poll

This is another poll where one answer is just not enough.  Answer 4 leads to answer 6, IMHO.

Democrats: Specializing in "high tech lynching" since 1987.

Journalist

Journalist today do not report the News. They make it up. Sure they may report the "event' but rarely do they do any background work on their own or they make it up as they go along to fit their particular agenda. All one has to do is look at the Fires in California. The spin machines have been steadily working to make this another black eye for the Bush Administration but got short circuited early on. Several politicians made up some facts and had them shoved back down their throats (i.e. not enough National Guard troops to fight the fires because they were all over in Iraq). We all know there are fires raging in California but depending on which source you listen to, the cause, the effects will be slanted by the political bent of the reporting organization. I wonder if they took a poll how favorable the media would fare. The media likes to take favorability polls on the Pres. and Congress. How would they fare?

Journalists are lazy

For the most part, journalists are just plain lazy.

Example: How many journalists have gotten out of the "green zone" when reporting in Baghdad? The ones that do (e.g., Laura Ingram, Malkin) come back with complete and accurate stories.

I would have added another

I would have added another option:

Conservatives simply choose other career paths (ie. Engineering)
