If you vote

say why you are voting that way here.

I think the GOP will have it tough next year based on current crop of candidates and that Hillary will have constant fawning coverage from MSM.

Ditto what MS said.

Ditto what MS said.

I say Republican because

I say Republican because based on prior presidental elections, less than half the country is stupid enough to vote Democrat. And a qualifer: if Ron Paul doesn't get a wild hair and split the party... we should win.

Besides they haven't thawed out UBL's body yet for the "big shark" pictures next to a Predator and squad of Navy Seals.

"There are two types of people in this country; those who provide freedom and those who enjoy it." MM says...

he's already said, repeatedly..

That he's not running third party. The truth is, he seems to be the only Republican with a chance of winning, but saying that elicits more ire here than supporting Hillary. The person likely to split the Republican party is Bloomburg, from financial resources, temperment & history. The media-goal remains: get a RINO up against Hillary. Then they win no matter what.

Sen Clinton

She will eventually face real questions from real debates.

She has never been forced to defend flip-flops.

An organized well funded RNC team has started campaigning. Ads will incorporate actual statements made by her.

The MSM polls are so low.

Sen Clinton's negative polls are high.

I think a 30 second montage of Hilary screeching would sink her.

The real thing

She's been protected by a low rated news media which refuses to cover these instances.

I would not care if there was nothing more than an introduction and conclusion (paid for by...) with all sen Clinton.

I always try to be optimistic, but ...

I have to agree with Matt. After losing in 2004, the MSM will do everything in its power to make sure a conservative Republican does not get elected.

The MSM single-handedly took a state senator and created Obama "the rock star." They love Hillary.

Meanwhile, they boo George Bush in the news room. If they're doing that to the President, imagine how they'd react to a Tancredo or Huckabee.

I'm willing to be optimistic, but it's hard when you see the media that the Republicans are up against.

Frankenlies.com: The truth about the lies of Al Franken; Al debunked ...

Unlike the majority of others here

I agree with you and Matt.  The media been successful in their apparent disinterest in Hillary's flip-flopping and other weaknesses, and I don't feel that any of the Republican candidates are strong enough to carry this election.  I predict a Democrat victory next year.

Matthew,

I think the GOP will have it tough next year based on current crop of
candidates and that Hillary will have constant fawning coverage from
MSM.

I'll go you one better, as I think "Mrs." Hillary Clinton is going to walk into the White House virtually without a scratch. However, I won't blame the liberal MSM for that sorry spectacle near as much as I will blame the current "leadership" of the Republican Party. They may as well be invisible for all that they have (not) done.

I voted Republican at this

I voted Republican at this point because Hillary is too polarizing to win a general election and I believe she will win the Democrat nomination.  Obama is flaming out and showing how unprepared he is for the job and I think he would not look good in any kind of serious debate where opposing views are offered and he is asked to explain his own views.  Other than that there are no other serious dem candidates.  With a healthy economy and a proactive national security policy and throw in a conservative stance on immigration, I think it is the republican candidates election to lose.  It is easy for the msm to get focused on what elitists in Washington and New York say, but I believe the evryday American will not vote for Hillary.

I voted Republican

At this point it was out of pretty much equal parts desperation and wishful thinking.

I confess to being more than a little afraid because of the sheer volume (decibel as well as mass) of hype and propaganda disgorged by the left but I am really hoping that their eagerness to get their agenda out as often as possible will also prove to be their undoing in that they will have totally exhausted the public with their bilge and will have revealed a little more than is comfortable about themselves and their ...positions?  (I know, they have no positions but I didn't know what else to put there).

"Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war"  - Shakespeare

I say Republican because it

I say Republican because it is the Dems election to lose and they have a great track record of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

I agree with FreeThinker.  Hillary's "it takes a village" schtick may play in NY and LA but it will not play in the Midwest.  In addition the nutroots have to be getting a little pissed that they are now recognizing the "bait and switch" from the 06 elections.  They elected these guys to end the war and now the people they brought in are playing politics and "supporting" the surge.  It wouldn't surprise me at all to see these imbeciles try the "Ned Lamont" gambit again and take out ther own best chance (Hillary) to win the Whitehouse.

Still not sure who it will be on the Republican side (I think Thompson missed his shot) but I think it is either Guliani or Romney and either one of them could mop the floor with Hillary in a debate.

Two words: Ron Paul. All

Two words: Ron Paul. All else are cannon fodder.

When it comes to debate, none on either side can match his well researched knowledge base. He throws out facts left and right while the rest throw out conjecture.

A typical question nowadays is something like "Should we attack iran/pakistan/china/russia/the latest threat according to the neo-cons."

Every other candidate: "Yes"

Ron Paul: "No, not unless they attack us first."

and THAT is why he will win over the majority of Americans.

Ron Paul: "No, not unless

Ron Paul: "No, not unless they attack us first", such a stupid comment.  They are attacking us and have been for some time.  The problem with Paul is taht he doesn't realize they are attacking us.  He reminds me of Chaimberlain "Peace in our time" and how he would appease all and ignore the threats we have.

The next attack is going to be a nuke.  The problem is not that we plan to fail but we fail to plan...and act.  I like some of his ideas but the foriegn policy is a deal sinker.  Even Shillary recognizes this and she is moving to an image of a hawk.

Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.

Paul's Christmas

So, we'll all be waiting on pins and needles to see who gets nuked during a Paul presidency. Ohhh.. the anticipation!

I wonder if Paul would have a news conference stating that his hands are tied until the nuke goes off? And what will the swift retribution be afterwards?

They Misunderestimate the Republicans

Just as McGovern lost against a very un-popular Nixon, right after the Viet Nam war, the McGovern Democrats of today will lose. America is not San Francisco, or the far left.

Americans like winning Wars, and now that we have changed from fighting a traditional war, to a different methodolgy for the Iraq war, we will end up winning Iraq for the Iraqui's, along with the Iraqui's.

Look at President Bush's Speech yesterday at the VFW ........ the cost in lives of Viet Nam when we left, the turnaround of Japan from an Enemy to an Ally.  You would think it was "NEW" information......and it was, since there is a Generation of un-informed voters out there...and there is Plenty of Time to talk about the Facts.

This EARLY run for the Presidency is a FIRST....and all the Exposure will make people wary of the Candidates....a Constant Diet of Politicians is a TURNOFF for the average American.

Bush is so Dumb...right ? ?  He seems to be pushing America towards the right direction even as Pelosi trys to outsmart him...Bush isn't Dumb, the Journalists are the Dumb ones, they cannot push an Agenda ad infinitum....without American recognizing the "Agenda" and picking a more centrist candidate.

when you win a war......it isn't time for a change....it's time to recognize success and go with what is working...for the war, and the Economy.....Dow Jones is up Triple Digits yesterday...

It's gonna be a landslide against Dems. in 2008.

With a saavy PR machine, we should be able to dispatch her to the dustbin of history and return conservatives to the majority in both houses... I hope.

I voted Democrat (in the

I voted Democrat (in the poll only, for Goodness sake!) because I believe there is a bull market in stupid people these days.  I also dispair at the quality of leadership in the GOP.  Where are the Reagans of yesteryear?  For that matter, where are the great Democratic leaders of yesteryear?  All we are left with are a bouquet of weeds to pick through.  It's like looking into a box of rotten fruit and trying to decide which one will make you the least sick.

Basically, I think that devoid of a meaningful choice, the American people will vote Democrat because they will see Democrat as more sympathetic to their personal concerns.  The Dems market themselves as such and frankly the Republicans don't market themselves at all.

An example of this is the "Fairness Doctrine."  I mean we all want to be fair, don't we?  What do conservatives have?  "Flat tax"?  Who wants to be flat?  One of these is "fair" and the other has it in its name, which one do you think the average joe is interested in?

To end my rant, let me say this.  I don't believe Shillary will be the end of America.  So, I am left with this hope: that her presidency will cause a real leader to rise from the conservative movement like Carter's fumbling the economy and foreign policy brought forth Reagan.

Tough call

It would seem that both sides have a poor field of candidates to choose from. I will not vote Democrat because I enjoy not having the government make all of my choices for me. Their top three are a woman who seems evil to me every time she opens her mouth. She never answers a question up front but makes it sound like she will do whatever is needed to win. Obama is new, which is good, but he has proven that he has no real grasp on the world at large. Edwards is out for nothing but money and power (typical lawyer). Rudy has no credentials that I like. You can only say "September 11th" so many times before other issues come up. Fred seems good and he may come in and kick some butt in future debates but I am tired of waiting to hear from him. Romney is very likable but I am afraid that the media will hurt him too much. Labeling a person a "flip flopper" is ridiculous at times. Who would you prefer, a person who can evalute the facts and evidence and change their mind accordingly or someone who will continue down the same path no matter what the facts and evidence may say? Some of these politicians are "polishing the brass on the Titanic. It's all going down man." (Tyler Durdin-Fight Club)

Ron Paul is the only Republican with a chance

I think that Ron Paul, if he wins the Republican nomination, will win the presidency. Any other Republican cannot win against Hillary, and make no mistake about it, Hillary will be the Democratic presidential nominee.

I have some faith in the voters...

I think in the end, immigration and security will be the driver and the Dems are seriously lacking in both, particularly, security. In fact, they seem to be rooting against America and that will turn off most voters.  The real nutters on the far left often won't vote anyway, even though the MSM seems to like putting them on TV all the time.  Shows just how clueless most of the media really are......

It pains me to say this,

It pains me to say this, but, I think the Clinton/Obama ticket is inevitable and worse electable.

As the field stands today, I haven't seen one conservative candidate who can compete on the emotional level needed to get both the female and the minority block in the general election. As soon as Hillary wins her primary she will be held up as a moderate conservative by her adoring press. Any attack made by the Republican opponent will be viewed and sold as mean, offhand, and dirty. Her message will be to change the status quo and put Washington back to work for the people. This land is your land, blah, blah, blah.

Wrong.

You underestimate the size of Hillary's ego. I just don't see her taking on Obama Bin Barrack as her running mate. More likely, it will me someone like a Bill Richardson or somebody else that will not take attention away from her.

Fred Wins!

The MSM can paste as many smily faces over Hillary Clinton's face they want.  The fact is she's in a position where she not only has to convince people to vote for her, but not to vote against her.  That's an unwinnable position regardless of what the MSM does.  Clinton is the Howard Dean of 2008... everyone says they'll vote for her, but they don't.  Obama can't win because there are too many people who just won't vote for a black president, and many of these voters are black.  They'll view Obama as thinking he's better than them, and they'll stay home.

Rudi and Mitt can't win because they're RINOs and in the same spot as Clinton, i.e., they have to sell themselves and their message, and while some people may like them, they don't like or believe their message.

Fred's got the right message, and he's been consistent in telling it.  He wins hands down.

Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.

Republicans will take the House and Senate

Democrats have miscalculated on two massive political fronts.

1. Democrats think America wanted withdrawal from Iraq when Americans DEMAND VICTORY. Americans love winners and detest quitters. Democrats are quitters and when the surge works even after a Muslim Tet........Iraq will be deemed a victory and Democrats will be blamed for trying to cause defeat.

Americans will not vote for a defeatist party.

2. Democrat minions at bloggers like Kos and Huffington are anarchists. PERIOD. Every time Hillary, Reid and Pelosi try to govern moderate the anarchists feel betrayed and there is a huge growing trend that these Democrats will vote either for wacko Cindy Sheehan types or stay home. The entire party base is fracturing and the most lunatic are already hammering the Democrats they voted for in 2006 as betrayers.

Sub part: Certain happenings which will fuel the election.

A. Illegals. Only Fred Thompson and Ron Paul has even spoken of secure borders and sovereign America. The Democrats are cuddling with illegals and this is a huge issue voters will vote one issue on.

B. The swing states of Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida all poll against gay marriage and Democrats are in bed with gays. This will swing several percentage points for the GOP which the DNC can no afford.

C. The trump card which Democrats have been scrambling against and will be incinerated by is combined terrorist attacks and a certain war in the Middle East. bin Laden's manifesto declares WMD attacks will take place against America. The terrorists contained in Iraq are now flushed to attack the west. When this happens along with what will be Saddam's WMDs appearing in an upcoming Middle East war...........voters will in mass swing to the party who actually is attacking terrorism and that is Republicans.

All of this combines to a GOP landslide in 2008. Health care gets trumped the minute a city or cities are attacked and the minute Damascus goes up in a mushroom cloud. Add to the effect that millions of illegals will riot and then stream to Mexico there is going to be a very scarey situation.....and remember all those illegals are housed in blue states and there is nothing like a Conservative lesson in Second Ammendment and who a citizen is when you are Ron Silva getting the scare put into you.

The Dems in '08

Since I believe the Democrats have no clue why they won the '06 elections, I believe they will go overboard and will disgust them that got 'em there. If a Republican has a plan, going into the election, they should be able to beat the "anti-Bush" Democrats, who are running against a President who's not running.

As far as Congress goes, how many Iraq votes and investigations will the voting public tolerate?  If that's what they believe people voted for them, they're in for a surprise  in '08!!!

Never argue with an idiot.  They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Dems in '06

If I am not mistaken, I thought the Dems won in '06 because of their promise to pull out of Iraq...oops!

If conservatives are RIGHT, then liberals must be WRONG.
Thompson/Rice

Okay, now I voted. And

Okay, now I voted.

And for an (R) win.

I'm not sure whom our candidate will be, or should be, yet.  Fred is appealing in so many ways, but I have to wonder at his delay in getting into the race...is he worried about the "egg on face" factor?

I could live with Rudy or Mitt, I suppose.  Depending on Fred's performance (which I am hoping shall be absolutely stellar)...I'm still on the fence.

But I think our second tier candidates are pretty hot stuff.  They're just so unknown to the rest of the country that they don't really have a shot at the top spot, IMO.

Bottom line, Hillary is a disgusting witch, people really hate her....as much as she thinks she deserves it...it's not going to happen.  Obama has shown himself to be as naive as a five year old.  I've maintained all along that a fop like Edwards will probably be their nominee if the dems eventually come to their senses (as they did after Dean's Iowa meltdown).   Oh, how I'd laugh at that nomination speech....Silky Pony Boy.

So....hoping for a great candidate in Fred.  As Roger said, it would be nice be able to finally vote FOR someone.

Time will tell.

The republican "leadership" is about as vapid as I have ever seen, as they appear to be unable to find their asses with both hands. The dim-bulb-o-crats step in it nearly every day, yet the republicans remain virtually silent. They are going to get their clock's cleaned in '08, and, as far as I am concerned, they deserve it.

Sure, this country is going to go through Hell for 24 months, but maybe, just maybe, in the long-term it will be a good thing, as it will rather rudely jerk many Americans out of their mindless complacency.

If a republican does have any chance, it will be due to the fact that he or she distances themselves from the party, much like Nixon did in running for his second term.

Are you listening Fred Thompson?

I deeply love my country, but that love is rapidly becoming a "tough" love, and it is getting tougher as each day passes.

Let's face it, the "Stupid Factor" is going to loom rather large in '08.

Hail To the "Chick?"

Bad Dave

Bad, Bad, Dave.

Time for you to go to your room.

"Hail to the Chick?"

Hillary makes me want to scream.

Bad, Bad, Dave.Blonde,

Bad, Bad, Dave.

LOL-You know, I kind of like the sound of that....oh, never mind.

Actually, I didn't mean "Hail to the Chick?" to be a sexist comment. I just was getting a jump on what I would be hearing in my mind on a cold January morn in '09.

And yes, the "stupid factor" will loom large in the next election, as our government school's inability (or unwillingness) to educate the dumbMasses over the last 40+ years is finally bearing fruit for the Left.

I really believe we have finally reached that proverbial point where the majority of Americans are too stupid to support themselves fully.

I hope I'm wrong, but given the fact that two flaming Marxists (Gore and Kerry) have come within a handful of votes of taking the White House in the last two major elections, I do not hold out much hope for this country in the near term.

Maybe two years of the Hildewench and her congressional aparatchiks running things may just be the thing we need to get this country back on track.

God knows the gutless republicans aren't going to do it.

Bad Dave!

I know....all about it.

But don't be such a pessimist.  The glass is half full, guy.  I think most hard working Americans will not be fooled by the idiots.

Further, I suspect many Americans are finally twigging to the fact that the MsM is pathetically shilling.  People are turning off the TV more and more as there are other, more interesting options.

So, Dave, I'll let you out of time out.  For now.

Until you go all pessimistic again.  :)
