McCain Barely...
September 26, 2008 - 13:30 ET by BadassBuckeyeWhy?
Because the moderators are going to be slanted in favoer of Obama. Its going to make me puke.
You want a real debate...put them in front...have them each take turns asking the other a question....then responding....
Enough of this moderated bs they call debating...it is fixed.

September 26, 2008 - 18:14 ET by DJEddleI honestly don't think the moderators will bring up much that will make Obama look bad...like some of these little gems:
Just Words...Just Speeches?
But, hey...at least tonight's topic is about Obama's weakest issue. I don't even think these moderators could make him look good.

September 26, 2008 - 14:09 ET by MaximusBraveheartThey had a fairly extensive story w/Iraqis saying the drop in violence is not due to the surge but by the people policing their own neighborhoods right at about the same time. This may be true but they had no other insight or "other side of the story."
I am guessing here but I would say that Dem journalists were mad at Obama saying on TV FoxNews that the surge worked to "everyones" surprise. So, they work on this story right before the debate; fully coordinated with the Dem machine. I would bet they bring this exact storyline up tonight and Obama will have been breifed and have his ducks in a row.
Someone w/the Republicans, PLEASE notify McCain to have a good in your face come back on this question!
More of a want
September 26, 2008 - 13:31 ET by MeanderingI voted McCain Easily, but this is what I want to see, not so much as what will actually happen. I worry that the questions will be skewd to a more liberal win, which leaves McCain an uphill battle, but I guess we'll see what happens. However, I think in an all out debate McCain will bury Obama with out a teleprompter!

September 26, 2008 - 13:33 ET by TuariWill McCain be debating Obama or Obama's teleprompter...
McCain will win
September 26, 2008 - 13:33 ET by bigtimerMcCain will win tonight...but the leftist msm immediately will say different, especially with their polls at the ready...you know those instant polls they have when it conveniently suits them and their agenda.
It's a given.
Btw...it will be interesting tonight with this debate...I sure hope McCain is smart enough to listen to the American people and our voices...all parties and stripes are against this bail-out, kind of like the illegal immigration amnesty bill McCain, it would do you good to remember that.
Well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Hey Dee... It is funny
September 26, 2008 - 13:53 ET by bigtimerHey Dee...
It is funny I'm not quite as pessimistic..he has to be full of anger with what Paulson has done, the msm has done, Harry Reid and others in the Senate on the dems side that used to be his bestest buddies have said on TV, let alone Obama...
As long as he keeps the words, my friends, foot-soldiers, and doesn't wink a thousand times, he has it made. ;-)
Even if the msm will day different...well I really shouldn't predict like I am....gawd I hope he doesn't pander to the left again.

September 26, 2008 - 14:36 ET by Dee BunkI'm afraid to watch. The convention and the debates are the only time that Republicans can get unedited statements out to the public. This is much more important for McCain than it is for Obama. No matter how bad Obama does, he'll have the media covering for him.

September 26, 2008 - 14:52 ET by bigtimerHey Dee...speaking of the debate...did you see where I posted to you somewhere earlier today about wondering if you were going to give up your poker night or watch now since the debate was back on...first person I thought about was you ...lol.
I don't know why I'm just not as pessimistic, I'm just not...first the msm was screaming he had better be at the debate...blah blah blah...now they are screaming how he is being hypocritical for going to the debate when he said he was going to stay until this bail-out crisis was over...
It is hilarious all in all..plus we know the long knives are out already for McCain and how the talking points are going to be on the networks other than Fox no matter how he does...
Also why I have you here...did you get my link about ACORN?
I have been in and out too...

September 26, 2008 - 13:54 ET by ckc1227Obama wins, no doubt about it. Even if he loses, he wins. But seriously, I think some are overly optimistic here. I don't think McCain wins easily. The deck is stacked against him, plus he's not a great debater. Then we have him saying he wouldn't debate until the bail out was finalized, and yet, here he is debating. Why should anyone believe what he says in the debate?
Speaking of the debate, can anyone tell me why Ole Miss had to spend $5 million dollars to host this debate?

September 26, 2008 - 14:14 ET by danboMcCain will win the debate fairly easily. But the media will declare Obama the winner. And in a few days will be amazed that Obama has declined in the polls even though he won the debate. It's just that us americans are stupid.

September 26, 2008 - 13:56 ET by dscottYou watch, Obama is going to demand the debate be on the economy instead of foreign policy. If McCain has sense, he would not agree to that. Obama had his chance to be part of the solution but decided instead on being an Order Taker as his pay grade.

Hey as you know I am no McCain fan...but given what all that hs happened this ought to be more than interesting.
What I have been more than sad about is the non-insistance from McCain that one of the debates wasn't from Fox.

September 26, 2008 - 14:38 ET by dscottIt may have been a precondition by the Dems, as you know the debates draw a lot of viewers, i.e. ratings and therefore millions of advertising dollars. The Dems by insisting on denying Fox News are essentially giving kick backs to their propaganda outlets. This why I previously opposed any primary debates not shared with FNC. IMO, in the larger context of the culture war it is better to not have a debate if the propaganda outlets are the only ones to get the revenue share because it hastens their ultimate demise.

the only reason I watch is I do not want to hear sound-clips and spin from the msm afterwards...one good place to watch is C-SPAN if you do not want the talking heads...
...although they do have the nut-case phone bank leftist loons calling in afterwards...but you could turn it off.
I flip it around to all the talking heads and the networks and really go nuts..lol!

Turning Point
September 26, 2008 - 14:42 ET by dboIt will be a double victory for McCain. Firstly, what issue is Obama going to win on? He's flip flopped on everything under the sun and doesn't have a single achievment on his resume. Then afterwards, when the MSM tries to spin that Obama won, all Americans that watched the debate will say "Gee, that's not what happened. The media is really in the tank for this guy".
Don't care!
September 26, 2008 - 15:02 ET by pocomocoThese are not debates they are nothing more than ‘sound-bite-sources’ for the network’s Sunday morning spin machines.
As we witnessed during the primary debates, it was just a regurgitation of each candidate’s talking points producing nothing of any substance.
If you’ve noticed, candidates stay away from stating their views on policy matters because it’s a landmine where every network evening news teleprompter-hugging newsreader suddenly becomes an expert.
What is needed are ‘real’ head-to-head debates where candidates ask each other questions.
As presently constructed, the debates are pretty much worthless.
Obama's practice Debate
September 26, 2008 - 15:06 ET by Lame CherryPeople should note that Barack Obama tonight will be "debating" in a Pavlov's dog forum he has been practicing in.
He can not speak without a teleprompter and this debate will not have one unless he is cheating.
In that the coaching he has been working on will be worked out in 90 second answers on all subjects he can repeat like a barking dog.
If he finds a question, he has not been prepared for he will have a standard, "I want to be Miss America, to stop world hunger, stop world violence, be cute, be cuddly as I love Mom, apple pie, gay condoms or justice in aborting children in my faith we all can choose our own way, Thank you."
So as you watch this debate look for Mr. Obama's tells as he will break into certain body language and he will break into speech patterns revealing his controls.
I doubt the debate will actually give him Sarah Palin questions like from spectacles Charlie Gibson which were impossible, but if they give him 2 questions like that he will go into meltdown.
There will not be any over my head in pay grade answers though as Axelrod and Plouffe have whipped the smart A answers out of him.
I would suggest that people pray for John McCain to do a job which will turn the hearts of Americans to him and to reveal how poorly Mr. Obama is........or reveal Mr. Obama's true character.
God bless

Make Him Mad
September 26, 2008 - 18:54 ET by JoelCTI just heard on Fox News that Obama's handlers are prepping Obama to make McCain mad. This is true. They want to show an angry McCain to America, and Obama is going to try to say things, probably blatant lies, to make McCain pissed.
I find myself getting angry with Obama quite often, and he's not even trying! I hope McCain can maintain an even keel in the face of this done-nothing blowhard liar.

September 26, 2008 - 19:04 ET by j. frank wilsonIntelligent, relevant questions and thoughtful answers that are more than memorized sound bites. We've had enough personal biography to last several elections. Let's hear what each candidate has to say about issues that matter - no flag pins, no lipstick, no lies about religion or the Pledge or other distractions.
Let's focus on major issues. And more importantly- because whomever wins, we don't know today all the major issues they are going to face over the next four years, how their respective minds work. What they think is important in solving problems and addressing issues.

September 27, 2008 - 00:24 ET by Dan The Man 2Frankie, that is the debate; what are the major issues? The only real issue in this campaign is one of character, meaning who can we trust in the Presidency. IMO Obama is not trustworthy and McCain is. Any other issue is up to debate about the merits.
