WHO????
August 18, 2008 - 18:18 ET by billbWho would want to be his vice president?
I agree,
August 18, 2008 - 21:25 ET by DEVILDOCMOMBUT, I am sure there are a long line of dims jumping at the chance to be on the ticket with the messiah. For instance, what has wesley clark done lately except embarass himself knocking McCain?
No embarrassment
August 18, 2008 - 22:55 ET by Agrarian-Decentralist"...what has wesley clark done lately except embarass [sic] himself knocking McCain?
No embarrassment involved. What he said about McCain is true and needed to be said.
AG,
August 18, 2008 - 23:31 ET by RESTLESS 1Clark said that being shot down does not qualify one to be president.
Okay,
what does qualify one? Being addicted to blackberrys? Advocating
infanticide? Being a junior senator, who really has served only half of
his term? Embracing racists and terrorists?
Wow, your right. That is one impressive list for obama, and I haven't even scratched the surface.

Sauce for the Gander, AG DC ala Pol Pot
August 19, 2008 - 12:10 ET by PSPCplSauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. Let's talk some truth about your Candidate:
-he belonged to a church for twenty years that advocates a certain belief system that is racist in the extreme and Marxist (anti-democratic) at its heart (I have no doubt that the KGB was involved in the development of this "theology")
-he advocates universal health care when everyone who has tried it has failed miserably (google UK health care system problems), except possibly in the USSR and only there because it was a Communist-controlled country: how can you trust anyone who wants to institute Communist-style command and control over a segment of our free-market economy (can't be done).
-lies when he claims that he represents "Change and Hope": his stance on raising taxes and creating programs to take care of the so-called "poor" in this country are nothing more than the same old "Tax and Spend" approach to income distribution practiced by Democrats whenever they get into office and what happened when the Communists took over anywhere. Higher taxes will doom all of us to third world economic status.
-my daughters would deal with foreign countries better than the Annoited One because they know that the interests of the USA comes first and everyone else comes in a distant second.
-Senator McCain is a true patriot and loves his country unconditionally: Obama sees this country as the problem in the world.
How about that sauce!!
If what was said about
August 19, 2008 - 12:58 ET by fitzfongIf what was said about McCain was true, the statement would have been delivered by someone with at least an ounce of credibility. Instead, it was uttered by Wesley Clark.

The problem with Other is that Other is too qualified and has far more experience than Obama. How often have you seen Other mentioned in the polls and how many loyal suporters have voted for Other over the years - far more than The Chosen One.
Other could upstage The Chosen One based on having more consistent long held positons than The Chosen One. In fact if there had been an other choice then Other would be the choice.

Which is why I think there is a chance, albeit a very slim one, that the dems will panic and bring Al in at the last minute to "right the ship."
Al still has wide appeal among most dems, and is seen by many of them as being able to win against republicans. After all, he came within a hand-full of votes of beating GWB in 2000, and he was far and away a much stronger candidate than McCain could ever be.
What is more, many dems would vote for Al out of sympathy alone, as they still believe Bush "stole" the 2000 Election from him.

Obama could pick Jesus and it won't help him
August 18, 2008 - 20:25 ET by CobraManObama could pick Jesus as his running mate and it won't help. Obama's not going to get elected as president as he's not qualified for the job, it's outside of his pay grade so to speak, and people know it. I highly doubt he'll even be re-elected as a Senator the next time he runs.
The REAL question is: Who will be willing to run on the same losing ticket as Obama? Who's going to sacrifice their political career for his? John Edwards once ran as VP on a losing ticket and look what happened to HIS bid for president! Even his own party picked a newcomer over him. Losers don't do well for democrats, just ask Dukakis.
That would eliminate HRC,
August 18, 2008 - 20:29 ET by balboaThat would eliminate HRC, then. She's not interested in losing.
Probably not
August 18, 2008 - 20:51 ET by CobraManProbably not. It's even conceivable that Hillary wins the democratic nomination. She still has all those pledged delegates yet and even Obama wants the DNC to seat ALL of the delegates from Florida and Michigan, and they are pledged to her! I think this is because Obama knows that he's a weak candidate for president and he WANTS Hillary to win the nomination. That gives him time to hone his political sword, so to speak, and pick up some valuable experience in national level politics before the 2012 election. He'd do a lot better with those four more years under his belt, as it were.
Look for an "upset" during the convention when Obama will concede the nomination to Hillary. That would be a good strategy for Obama as having Hillary LOSE a presidential election would doom her forever politically and would remove ALL vestiges of Clinton power and control over the party once and for all. This would give Obama the time to cultivate inside supporters and expand his democratic power base, just like the Clintons did 14 years ago. That’s a winning strategy for Obama, is it not? After all, until the Clinton Power Machine is finally dead, Obama can’t fully take control of the party. If you can't fully control the party, you can't make those "changes" he keeps talking about, right?
Wow....Cobra....that would be surreal.....
August 18, 2008 - 21:21 ET by BEGRUNTA couple of questions though. First, how would Obamatron square it with his supporters, without a full scale revolt? This would so throw the Dims into full scale meltdown......Second, how would Hillary salvage what was left, with even a hope at winning? Thats my 2 cents. Interesting scenario though!!
"If a man does his best, what else is there"?
General George S. Patton Jr.
It's a winning strategy if the goal is "change"
August 18, 2008 - 21:44 ET by CobraMan"how would Obamatron square it with his supporters, without a full scale revolt?"
He wants a revolt in order to kill off the old power structure. Think about it. Obama can give the appearance of greatness by HUMBLING conceding the nomination (Look how magnanimous he is! Look how humble he accepts his defeat! That’s a Great Man standing before us!). Some will be upset and cry foul and even maybe start a huge ruckus, which would actual help him as it further divides the old power structure from the new , but anyone who resorts to violence are not the kind of supporters he want anyways (you know, the LOONIES) so he can dump them without facing public reprisals. That’s a winning strategy for him.
"Second, how would Hillary salvage what was left, with even a hope at winning?"
She couldn't salvage anything and that would doom her chances at being elected. She’ll LOSE the election and this would destroy her and the Clinton Power Machine forever! It would also destroy anyone who's aligned with her, both today and in the past. ALL of the old guard would be removed in one clean sweep! Obama would now be free to restructure the party as he sees fit. Yet another wining strategy for him.
This would be the PERFECT way for Obama and his supporters to take control of the party. Which, I believe, is his true goal. He wants change, right? Well, to accomplish this he needs to change his own party first. You can't have true change when the old power structures still exist, right? So, it’s going to be: out with the old and in with the new. This can best be accomplished by conceding the nomination right in front of America! A CLASSIC political “slam dunk,” a complete take over of the party, and there wouldn’t be anything Hillary and the rest could do about it.
Cobra.... Not in a million
August 18, 2008 - 21:51 ET by bigtimerCobra.... Not in a million years....
Michelle would murder him on the national stage if he did any of your scenario...let alone a long line of others that would want to wring his scrawny neck....starting with Soros first and foremost.
"America isn't the problem...America is the solution." ~ Rush Limbaugh
Soros would LOVE it
August 18, 2008 - 22:32 ET by CobraManAre you kidding? Soros would LOVE to be the moneyman behind the New Party. Obama couldn’t restructure the party without massive financing. Soros already shows himself to be willing to be part of the Shadow Party, the Money behind the Power (and have HUGE control over someone through his financing!) so this would be a perfect situation for him to gain complete financial power and control of the Democratic Party.
As for his wife, I’m sure she’s capable of seeing the bigger picture, which is long term control over the entire Democratic Party that could last for decades as opposed to, at the most, eight years of a presidency while the Old Guard still controls the party, and Obama. Plus, Obama would be SURE to become president in the next election after this, the sympathy vote alone would cinch it! His presidency is not a given right now. But it would be four years from now!
Also, she’d make a GREAT sympathy figure. Can you imagine the effect she would have on people when they see her CRYING on the MSM and complaining about how this was all Hillary’s machinations and how the Old Guard is destroying the “cohesion” of the democratic party due to their addiction to power? Talk about a rally cry! The MSM would FULLY support them in their takeover of the party.
At the same time, Obama can MINIMIZE any interference that could be generated by the Republicans, as this would avoid an inter-party fight. Who could blame the Republicans for this? And how can the Republicans interfere? Since it’s all intra-party, the Republicans would have absolutely no effect on what happens! Hell, even RUSH couldn't have any effect as he couldn’t rally the liberals in support of one or the other, right? So, that eliminates Talk Radio as an impediment to the take over. That’s a BIG advantage as there would be virtually NO public resistance!
It’s truly a winning scenario all around. A Percet Solution for Obama and his supporters!
And to be honest, I’m kinda sorry I mentioned the whole thing as it could give some people ideas if they hadn't had them already.

August 18, 2008 - 21:04 ET by CobraManThey already did vote for Bush twice, did they not? Why NOT vote for someone you know as opposed to someone you don't. At least with McCain, people have a good idea as to what kind of President he'll be. You can't say the same about Obama.
Let’s be realistic here for a moment. Obama's spent most of his political career running for a higher office! That’s speaks volumes as to his ambition (history teaches us to be very weary of over-ambitious people, especially those who wish to lead) and to his commitment to the people who trusted him to serve in their best intrested and elected him to office (he dumped them like an aborted baby as soon as he realized that he had a chance for a higher office). What does that say about his character? What does that say about his commitment? What does that say about his goals? I’ll tell you this: it doesn't say anything good.

August 18, 2008 - 21:05 ET by fitzfongIf the competition is dwarf tossing. Gore is a coward and knows that his "Global Warming" racket will be over if he subjects himself to an actual debate. As for your lame "more of the same" cliche, anyone with at least half a brain would take "more of the same" than any of what your schmuck of a candidate has to offer.

August 18, 2008 - 20:00 ET by CobraManHe could pick Nader as Nader IS running again, as usual. That would remove ALL of the Nader effects on the national front, would it not? (You know that's what cost Gore the election in 2000, right? It must be true as EVERY liberal I know claimed that it was!) But that's only IF Obama is smart enough to realize it.
I read the comments. You all missed this guy.

Make it Biden
August 18, 2008 - 20:33 ET by Warner Todd HustonOh, PLEASE make it Joe Biden. This man is the dumbest man in all of government and that is REALLY saying something! If the Democrats think Quayle said funny things, wait until THIS idiot gets the national stage. He is a fool of the highest order. The stupidity that comes out of this dolt's mouth would be a treat to watch as he sinks the Obamessiah campaign with his dead weight.
The Gaffe Master General
August 18, 2008 - 22:55 ET by third eyeApparently Michelle Obama has major objections to the Gaffe Master becoming VP.
But I have a feeling Tim Kaine, who I think Obama will pick, will prove no slouch himself in that department.

August 18, 2008 - 20:56 ET by fitzfongI could see Obama wanting to pick the creepy Mark Warner or the empty suit Evan Bayh. But I believe one thing is very clear...it isn't going to be Obama's call. As I see it, Obama is going to be told who will be picked...it's going to be the Pantsuit.

August 19, 2008 - 02:35 ET by Parker1227"...and he [Gore] was far and away a much stronger candidate than McCain could ever be."
Care to make a wager on that?
John McCain obviously angers lots of NB fanatics (including me), cause he's only half conservative, but at least he has the grit to want to debate Obama - any time, any where, without conditions.
Compare that to Gore's cowardly refusal to debate GW and it is obvious that Al Gore is as phony as a $3 bill (and Obama is following in Gore's cowardly footsteps by refusing the town-hall debates).
Gore has always presented as a nervous, smarmy, sanctimonious jerk. At least Obama does his haughty act with a bit of class. Gore simply oozes slime.
I think Gore went insane when he missed the golden ring by a mere 600 votes. When he re-appeared with his John the Baptist act, attacking Bush on Iraq, he became the definition of treason.
Gore is 1/10 the man that McCain is.
BTW McCain crushed Obama in their recent dust-up (regardless of the stupid "cone of silence" gimmick). I've never seen Gore perform well in any debate.

This hoosier thinks Bayh
August 19, 2008 - 12:42 ET by libliebusterObamessiah is far too arrogant and elitist to pick someone who might come anywhere close to his ability to dance on the end of a string while his puppetmasters put words in his mouth.
Bayh is the most plain vanilla, boring, do-nothing, stand-for-nothing, avoid all controversy choice that "The Annointed One" could make. This is another racist decision by Obama. He's trying to find the most white man he can find. You don't get much whiter than Bayh. If he was any whiter, he'd be transparent.
Obama thinks he might get Indiana by picking Bayh. The real hoosiers will never pick Obama. He'll win in Gary and East Chicago but they are died in the wool Illinois cult worshipers of The Obamameister who just happen to unfortunately live on our side of the state line.
