July 18, 2008 - 07:37 ET by taterI voted for Colbert...even though I know he's a liberal he can still crack me up because he does that character so well.

I'd have to agree on that.
July 18, 2008 - 07:57 ET by ThatDudeI'd have to agree on that. His delivery and timing are excellent and I still find his satire to be funny despite how he makes all conservatives look. It would be interesting to see the same dynamic from his show used to lampoon the left.
I wish we had some better choices. There are plenty of much better comedians who aren't pushing an agenda.
Already been tried...
July 18, 2008 - 12:50 ET by ImAllRightFox News already tried to lampoon the lefties with Half Hour News Hour and it failed miserably.
Colbert cracks me up even though its us he's poking fun at but I know its mainly towards blowhards like O Reilly and Hannity of which neither I can stand.
I voted for Dave Chappelle anyway. Colbert would've been second and all of the others would be close for third. Mainly Ferguson.
Mencia is garbage and Leno hasn't been funny for 15 years.

July 18, 2008 - 08:12 ET by Hero SquadMiller is still one of my favorites.
However, of the ones that were on the ballot (was this for comics who have their own TV show?), Kimmel is my choice. His style just suits my tastes, and I love how he acts like the show is just one big ball of nepotism. Plus, anyone who follow up his (now ex) girlfriend's song "I'm *bleep*ing Matt Damon" with an equally crass "I'm *bleep*ing Ben Affleck" - and actually get Ben Affleck to star in the video - well, that's just classic.
Plus, I like that there's not a hint of political bias in his show. Just whatever's funny, whoever it may be.

July 18, 2008 - 07:55 ET by HelenSDefinitely Carlos Mencia! LOVED his "No Strings Attached" DVD. Similar material in "Not For the Easily Offended" but smoother and cleaned up. A bit.
But he is across-the-board offensive and right on the money. His segments about illigal immigration, education, and prejudice alone are great.

yes he does say a lot of offesive(matter of perspective) things
July 18, 2008 - 18:43 ET by lunaticcringeradiobut i just don't find him all that funny.he says a lot of hack things that you could hear going to any comedy club. i have to admire him in the way he marketed himself and succeeded very for himself, but i just don't find a lot of his material THAT original. his catch phrase, "i know what you're thinking" of course it's what i'm thinking, i've been thinking the same ideas for decades but instead of becoming a comedian in media i putzed around in the news media and then joined the military and other things and i never turned into a tv comedian. good for him on what he did but i just don't find mencia funny because i don't find him original. plus race isn't the only angle to offend people with. take james carville, that sob has a face that looks like a tomato that's been pecked at by a large bird. ted kennedy, they just found the brain tumor last month? somebody needs to be fired because they've been missing that lump for decades. nacy pelosi, i hear that old hippie still smells like patchouli 50 years later.

July 18, 2008 - 13:59 ET by fitzfongOf this group, Leno is probably the most consistent...his talent may be diluted by the sheer volume of the material he must churn out each week, but he can still bring it. He was best on the once-a-week Carson guest-hosting gig. Ferguson is better as a comedic actor, Letterman is overly-reliant on sight gags, Conan has to appeal to a younger audience, Mencia and Chappelle are funny...but rarely stray beyond race and caricature humor, Jimmy Kimmel is better as a foil and Colbert's dumb-guy persona is more tiresome than funny. The only way for Maher and funny to intersect is if the funny happens to Maher. The next clever observation he makes will be the first.
