Allan thanks for the link. In the first video CNN still doesn't get it. They say it's anti-Obama anti-Democratic. It is to a certain extent anti-Obama, but that's based on his policies. It's also anti-Republican because they haven't been listening to us either.
I checked out MSNBC and CNN to see if they were showing anything, nothing. MSNBC is going to show Obama in MN at 2 pm, so i bet that will be the main focus for today.JAJT
I am sure it will be covered. How many news organizations will cover it is up for debate but what has become very clear is that the coverage will be vastly different depending on your choice of news source. Remember the Tea Parties on April 15th? When covered by the MSM they were attacked and belittled. Will the same tactics be used again, I believe it will and that will once again prove to most Americans that they can no longer trust the OLD MEDIA. I would be very pleasntly surprised if I am wrong, but I am not holding my breath.
I believe Fox News will cover this somewhat because it's in their own back yard, but let's note that even Fox News has been very poor at covering TEA protests in the last couple of months. They should not be presented as an ideal for coverage of these events. Even when they cover today's DC protests, let's watch to see if they dare to offer an honest and independent estimate of attendance.
I don't know if Fox has been pressured to not cover, if it's just fear, or if it's flyover country syndrome, or lack of resources, but internet blogs have consistently provided the only reliable coverage out there.
Of course, it all depends on the meaning of "cover", doesn't it? While I'm sure all the MSM outlets will claim that they "covered" the anniversary of 9/11 yesterday, only the History Channel and Fox News gave it real coverage, replaying all the footage and showing interviews with those who were there.
/I have to admit, MSNBC played their coverage from 9/11. However, I would have liked to see any of the networks report on the identification of the hijackers, and the subsequent arrests of those who contributed to the planning of 9/11.
cnn, msnbc, and the networks won't cover it live, at least. Left wing reporters would be foaming at the mouth and then say something they'll regret when they repond to anyone criticism of their messiah. So they'll just record, cool off, and find a way to spin it.
So many of us couldn't make it Washington for various reasons, but I'm watching it from home and loving it! Now I'M proud of my country (but not for the first time!)
Hey Radical, glad it's not the first time. Just make sure your clothing has sleeves. You wouldn't want to be the laughingstock of the world or anything like that.....You know, 'cause we're a downright MEAN country, at least to those that don't want to work, and just bleed the system.......
Well of course Fox News will cover it, they advertised and promoted it. Fox News probably won't cover much else the rest of the day. CNN will cover it, they already have a few times this morning, but they won't dwell on it, because they are a legitimate news organization. MSNBC won't cover today because they don't have news show on during the weekends but they will cover it, I see a report on msnbc.com about it. All of them will report on it because it is news, but they won't go 'in depth' as Fox News has. And to the 81% that said only Fox News, your wrong, CNN already has a few times that I've seen.
You act like NBC didn't turn over its Newsroom to the White House to promote this Obamacare crap. Of course that was just 'good journalism' wasn't it? No propaganda there, not at all.
Then there was this network love fest over the Ted Kennedy funeral, like that petty murderer, cheat, drunkard and liar was some sort of national hero. The Nets should have spent so much time on Todd Beamer or Chic Burlingame who really WERE national heroes.
Fox News no more organized this demonstration than you did. To allege that they "promoted it" because they reported it and regard this as a big story and the anti-American MSM give the story perfunctory mention is the whole point of this board. BIAS. The MSM is rife with it. This demonstration in Washington likely reflects the sentiments of close to 60% and certainly more than half of all US citizens, and you think it is deserving of a prefunctory mention. I guess the same should be said of the million man march then, which was representative largely of blacks only?
Lastly: Okay, a side-thing, but not entirely. I have to share, with everyone, just about the most textbook example of how liberals enter a debate/argument, and then, as they quickly lose, are eager to end it and act like you started it. This was on facebook with a friend of an NB member, btw, so I'm removing the names:
(NOTE: and notice his classy shot at Michelle... ugh...)
LIBERAL GUY:
Sorry, there's not 2 million people there. Aerial photos show that number isn't even close
... look at the top pic, and reconsider. Also, the mainstream media is working hard to minimize the scope, but they all report blocks and blocks of people. THAT, my friend, is an impressive aerial shot.
LIBERAL GUY:
That shot looks eerily similar to the shot on the day of the inauguration. Sorry guys, not buying anything from Fox News loving Michelle Malkin. What a surprise, a former Fox News personality hates Obama. She needs to go defend Japan for bombing Pearl Harbor again.
Fox News is hardly the problem in the world of news today, [liberal guy]. You might come to realize this some day... not sure what it will take, but....
LIBERAL GUY:
Ok, let me make myself clear, I'm not gonna argue with anyone about politics. 2 million, 2,000, 200,000, whatever. Both shots look the same to me, that's all I'm saying. We all saw how protests against the Iraq war did. Truth be told, Obama is the President until 2012. Like it or not.
ME:
Haha. And "both shots look the same to me"... go look at MSNBC, [liberal guy]... the video. That's not the inauguration, silly.
Now, as for all of the other political issues you're increasingly injecting into the conversation, well, that's called diversionary tactics as you start to look a bit foolish. This is a huge protest. It's news. If Fox and "Japanese" (sheesh, nice one) Michelle report it, they're doing their job, and a good job.
Meanwhile, the others will do all they can to feed you the side you prefer. That's called not reporting the "news".
There's your 2 million strong, the Million Man March in 1995 which totaled an estimated 850,000 people. That crowd, bigger than the one today.
I never said Malkin was Japanese, read again. And if you believe everything you see on the news, that's your choice.
Final note: Please see above my statement on arguing politics.
ME:
Great, so now that you have egg on your face over calling Michelle and Fox frauds for putting up a "bogus" pic, we're waging the Million Man March Pic Wars here, and who had more millions, or closer to a million.... priceless.
And where did I say you said Malkin was Japanese? You just made a completely irrelevant reference to her and Japan and Pearl Harbor, so I was rightfully ribbing you.
Oh, [liberal guy] has policies on "arguing about politics"? You came on and staunchly refuted [NB member]'s claim of 2 (or 1) million, refuted pics I sent you (a lot of time/effort on my part), then finally I proved you were wrong... then YOU started arguing politics... and now, um, we're arguing politics. Got it.
I'm happy to not discuss politics, believe me. It's tirelessly shooting down lies and dishonesty with the left all the time like this :) I was here to defend [NB member] and defend the fact that this is indeed a major march/protest.
You can see Obama, Raum, Axelrod, Pelosi, Reid. Robert Gibberish et al bunkered down in the basement of the WH furiously going through "Rules For Radicals" for the answer to, "What do we do now???"
No citizen's right to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, or property is safe as long as Obama is President of the United States.
Fox News will cover both the Washington Tea Party Rally and the Minnesota Rally with speech by Obama. Fox will have reporters at both rallies.
CNN will cover the Tea Party Rally in Washington with a 30 second acknowledgements. They will have reporters at both but will focus on the Minnesota Rally with Obama speech.
MSNBC will cover the Tea Party Rally in Washington only if they can find some negative aspect such as kooky dressed people or a scuffle between opposing groups. They will have nothing but praise and adulation for the Minnesota Rally w/Obama speech.
oh so Obama is going to a MN healthcare Rally, when was that set up? and how convenient that he is going to MN rather than stay here and look at all the people who are protesting his healthcare plan. JAJT
I'm switching from Cspan to MSNBC. MSNBC is running quotes from Obama along the bottom left of the screen. They are acting as if it's a done deal, oh and today Obama said 17,000 people lose insurance every day. Not a word about DC. Idiots.
Basically, the "news" outlets are seriously tamping down on the DC march. All the main .com ones, except NYTimes, have no headline or photo of it. NYTimes does, but the photo makes it look like a handful of rednecks signing some brown paper petition. :p Ugh.
2 million is now the estimate! Streaming up and down several streets and avenues, as well as the main boulevard.
2 million people marching on Washington and MSNBC and CNN cover Obama at a health care rally.
They used to try and hide the bias but now they openly flaunt it and don't care what we think. If they could they would put a crawl across the bottom of the screen it would say, "FU Conservatives and your stinking rally on Washington!"
Oh no! That's over 6 million people a year!! That means in 480 years no one will have health insurance in the US. Cause, you know, no one is willing to buy health insurance anymore. We're doomed!!!! Batten the hatches, mateys!
;+}
No citizen's right to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, or property is safe as long as Obama is President of the United States.
Apparently The Obama is making another health-care speech, in shirtsleeves, just being "one of the folks." I wouldn't bet that this wasn't timed to give CNN an excuse to NOT cover the Tea Party today.
Sure is convenient, because that's what CNN is covering right now; The One.
"Four legs good... two legs better!" - George Orwell
I doubt he's getting nearly the viewing the DC rally is. I'm loving the real people at DC. The coal miner who just spoke, the former democrat, etc. True democracy in action!!
My guess is that Obama's trip to MN was arranged between the White House and MSM so they would have an excuse to cover something besides the rallies today.
"Reason and persuasion are the only practical instruments against error. To make way for these, free inquiry must be indulged"- Thomas Jefferson
I'm thinking he mostly wanted to get out of Washington today to avoid hearing/seeing the citizens gathered at the rally. And he's so delusional, he probably believes he's going to get better ratings.
No citizen's right to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, or property is safe as long as Obama is President of the United States.
It really is heartwarming. The sleeping giant has finally awakened. This is all a prelude to the 2010 elections, the day we get our country back. (I hope). It's a purty sight.
No citizen's right to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, or property is safe as long as Obama is President of the United States.
on all channels except Fox and C-Span (but C-Span doesn't really count as a news network).
Unless you caught one of their hourly news update segments, you'd never know that there even was a march on Washington today. All CNN and MSNBC have covered is Obamessiah's pep rally in Minneapolis. Big surprise.
"The problem is not that people are taxed too little...the problem is that government spends too much." ~President Ronald Reagan
Ed Schultz of MSNBC said people arrived at the Staples center at 8 p.m. last night and spent the night outside to hear Obama in MN. Don't believe it, but even if it was true, doesn't beat over 2 million coming from around the U.S. to DC.
all attendees of obama "rallies" are prescreened by filling out a form on the WH site, chosen by lottery and contacted ahead of time. Its a security issue.

Beck's not covering the rally?? What are you watching? Yes he is...He has been from the beginning of his show...Fox isn't covering every single second of the rally, but Beck's show is all about this today. Periodically, they cut to the rally and then back to the studio. If you want to see the entire rally without interruption, C-Span has that.
My point is that Fox is the only news network covering any of what's happening in D.C. today, outside of brief news updates. Beyond that, they're all checked out.
"The problem is not that people are taxed too little...the problem is that government spends too much." ~President Ronald Reagan
Prairie well he is talking about it. I just prefer to SEE the coverage and listen to him on Monday. I wish Fox had the same type of coverage CSPAN has, so we can really see what's going on.
the thinking is that if you want to see the rally in it's entirety, you can go to C-Span. Also, the "9-12 Project" is Beck's baby, so I can understand them having him hosting some of the coverage of the rally.
"The problem is not that people are taxed too little...the problem is that government spends too much." ~President Ronald Reagan
Prairie, yep I am getting goose bumps watching the whole rally! I love all the signs and haven't seen a racist one yet, and since it's CSPAN I think they'd show it if they saw one.
I enjoy Beck and will be listening to him Monday morning, kinda wish Rick Santelli was at this rally...
Conservatives can sometimes be a little slow to "catch fire" about issues, and even a little bit slower to get angry and to stand up and make noise about it, so that is why I am so glad to see all of this today!! I just love it! I wish I lived in the D.C. area, because I'd be there with bells on!
IT'S ABOUT TIME!!
"The problem is not that people are taxed too little...the problem is that government spends too much." ~President Ronald Reagan
NOTHING will change unless some amendments are made to the constution.
The only way out of this huge mess is to get enough people together to made amdentments to the constution and re-affirm the 10th amendment, and strike the whole bullshit 'general wellfare' clause.
I am afraid we are so far down the path that we have split down the middle with each half the country beliving in TWO DIFFERENT CONSTITUTIONS.
One side belives in the 10th amendment and thinks the general welfare clause does not mean ANYTHING, and the other side things the 10th amendment is meaningless, and the general welfare and commerce clauses mean everything and that effectivly there is ZERO LIMITS on what the federal government can do.
I am afriad that the only thing to settle this might actually be a revolution.
a head count...The question is whether it's a legitimate number, or just a manufactured one to make it look like a zillion people were there....
Wait...Fox just reported that approx. 15,000 were in attendance in Minneapolis...
In 2004, right before the election, my family and I went to see President Bush at the same locale that Obama was at today, the Target Center, and there were approx. 20,000-30,000 in attendance... And this is in blue state Minnesota.
"The problem is not that people are taxed too little...the problem is that government spends too much." ~President Ronald Reagan
Gotta check out the dialogue I just had with someone, who was claiming these new images coming in from the protest today are... get this.... from the inauguration, and Michelle Malkin / Fox are fooling us! :p
Believe me, I think most libs/Dems are abandoning this ship we call Duh One.
Sadly, abandoning it because he's not a tough enough radical, and they are discovering he's a complete saleman/politician and smooth-talking/walking android. Which, well, he IS that.
What the libtards are finding out with this protest, however, is that anything close to a radical, pro-socialist president will be exposed and forced out eventually, by the majority in this country.
100%...I just hope that Americans like those that we are seeing at the rally today and at the tea parties across the country, can keep this momentum and this movement going...Too bad that the mid-term elections aren't this November, and this passion and anger can help toss out the deadwood in our government and change it's direction, sooner rather than later. Hopefully, the sentiments will be the same this time next year. I sure hope so.
"The problem is not that people are taxed too little...the problem is that government spends too much." ~President Ronald Reagan
Oh, I actually think this is just the beginning. Think, they were motivated to do THIS, and without any election or key thing happening that's in the balance.
Obama/Pelosi/Plugs/gang don't want to see this sort of "spectacle" again, I'm sure, but they will... or, this will straighten them out a bit (yeah, likely... /sarc)
Love the Pelosi signs, btw.... with the long nose. She deserves every drop. Witch.
Shy I'm with you. When you get people who have been silent for a long time, to suddently speak up on their own, they aren't going to go away. The fact that the media and politicians are ignoring us makes us stronger. If they at least pretended they heard us and appeased us, it might fizzle out. They keep adding fuel to the fire. It's not going out anytime soon.
I think you could be right...Your point about all this happening without an election around the corner is a good one...But there has been a catalyst however... Obama and Co., have set this into motion with the disastrous stimulus and Obamacare programs provoking all this pushback...I just hope that it continues.
"The problem is not that people are taxed too little...the problem is that government spends too much." ~President Ronald Reagan
Beck is definitely on a major roll. It's great that he's making the point that corruption is the issue in Washington, not whether a person is a D or R or I. Another poster mentioned the issue that the elections aren't until next November and that this level of intensity will need to be carried forward a long time. I hope the momentum can be maintained at a minimum and increased if at all possible. Maybe the victories with Van Jones and the Acorn issues and changes that the Dems have had to make to the health care proposals will be enough to give people the confidence to keep pushing forward.
"Reason and persuasion are the only practical instruments against error. To make way for these, free inquiry must be indulged"- Thomas Jefferson
His message and actions/work are great. His style/delivery, though, still unnerves me a little.
Btw, Scott answered you at FB. He's always a short-worded wisenheimer... a bit on the cocky side. He protesteth on being a liberal (and he HAS sided with me) but he also took me to task for saying Fox was probably the most F&B in news. He's annoying. :p
....if you ignore the article, there are some pretty good pics from the tea party close to bottom.

Kata, love it! Especially the guy selling flags (go capitalism) and the sign with Mel Gibson as Braveheart (he disappoints me with his actions but I love the face).
Great find! This is unbelievable. Are the outlets here in the States -- EVEN FOX -- providing a good, quality shot that shows the sheer numbers at the Capitol like this site/paper? Amazing. Sad, actually.
And that's just the lawn in front of the Capitol. Again, it extends all the way down the main boulevard....

LIBERAL GUY:
http://www.africawithin.com/mmm/mmmcapitol.bmp

MSNBC will cover the Tea Party Rally in Washington only if they can find some negative aspect such as kooky dressed people or a scuffle between opposing groups. They will have nothing but praise and adulation for the Minnesota Rally w/Obama speech.

Periodically, they cut to the rally and then back to the studio. If you want to see the entire rally without interruption, C-Span has that.
My point is that Fox is the only news network covering any of what's happening in D.C. today, outside of brief news updates. Beyond that, they're all checked out.

Sat, 09/12/2009 - 16:09 ET by FeynmanFanBeck is definitely on a major roll.
