Why would they fire her? What she did was an approved policy by the NYT. Whe was merely following proper procedure by the paper. "just write or copy anything that forwards our agenda". She IS the paper. they think the internet is destroying them.....how arrogant. That paper is doomed unless Obama buys it. He might. Our new socialist gov't will be in the transportation and news business. Heil Obama!!!!

Dowd will join Joe Biden and Mike Barnicle on a tour of university journalism schools. She and her compatriots pick up "prestigious" awards from each school and conduct roundtable discussions with J students about the evils of talk radio.
She's got a column out today and judging by the comments, the sycophants still love her. With a rare exception, the only part of that paper worth reading is the Travel section. Their photography archives are also nice. Other than that, it's only use is to guage how the kooks are thinking.
I voted for absolutely nothing, but I wouldn't be surprised if she more frequently cites, with attribution, leftist bloggers like Josh Micah Marshall and Matthew Yglesias in the future.
Best line on MoDoGate, from Confederate Yankee blog: "If I'm ever caught plagiarizing, please at least let it be memorable copy. Don't let it be the pedestrian regurgitation of a shallow political talking point."
I say she gets another Pulitzer Prize. The Pulitzers have become mostly an in-your-face protest, a thumb in the eye of conservative thinking. They give Pulitzer Prizes to people that drive home the liberal philosophy of 'we don't give a damn what you rubes think, we own the media and we will protect our territory.'
Giving Mo another Pulitzer will be their way of circling the wagons around one of their divas.
I'm a writer and enjoy hearing our friends' comments on current events. If they're quoting what they read or heard, I've not got a clue from where their comments come, but freely admit appropriating them. I've a working theory. Way back when when I was an advertising copy chief, I'd have brilliant creative ideas but also acknoldged that at least 10 of my competitors around the country were having the same idea.
I do understand Ms. Dowd's mistake. Yeah, she should've had fact/previous comment staff search for prior comments. I don't have a staff to do so. I'm sure I 'plagarize' from time to time but it's invertent. Oddly, she's been pretty balanced in recent comments
keep her around so she can be the last one out the door - the one who will TURN OUT THE LIGHTS when the old gray lady breathes her last breath ;-)
At that time, there may be some remorse in NYC, but the nation's conservative voices will be celebrating the loss of this biased so-called newspaper!

I'm by no means an authority but what the "elderly school girl" does is not hard news but opinion, excuse me, pointed-childish criticism. Nothing will happen to her, she will continue on with her rants.
Agreed; she does mostly juvenile snark, more like a girls locker room babble. Can't believe the money she makes and the awards she gets from such garbage.
May have picked a Pulitzer if she had given away classified info like the NYTs and WaPo have done and received awards for doing so during a time of war.
She needs to get on that bandwagon...what's the matter with her, she's slipping up.
Doubling down on stupid is not a particularly good idea. ~Andrew Breitbart
It used to be that people would feel embarrassed or ashamed if they behaved this crassly and dishonestly. Any more, not only don't they even bother to feign embarrassment, they are so shameless and uncouth that they actually don't see what's wrong with their behavior.
It is completely disgusting and so incredibly tiresome.

In similar fashion, in a non-apology that will also be accepted, Anderson Cooper called his "teabagging" comment stupid and silly. Not disgusting, just stupid and silly. He also said he wasn't trying to "disparage" anyone (cough, bull$h!t!)
