The only reason that I would list this as one of the worst is watching America go from on the outside of the whirlpool to almost competely down the toilet. Never in my whole life have I been so disgusted at people and politics of America. The only bright spot about this year is that the next 4 are going to be 10 times worse.
2008 was probably close to one of my best years, mostly because of my spiritual growth. Having a deeper relationship with God has really made a lot of outside concerns seem smaller. Also I have much less stress, and even if things get worse I know I still have God to voice my concerns to.
I also kept up my workout routine and am stronger, and had three really good vacations througout the year.
Man, I havent had a vacation in years (meaning like more the 4 days off in a row not counting the weekend). I'm am jealous!!! If I had 3 vacations I would change my vote to "Great" instead of "Average".

I spent a lot of time with family and friends and enjoyed a few nice vacations during the year. The stock market tanking hurts from a psychological perspective, but at the end of the day my life did not change from it.
Truthfully, the worst thing that happened during the year, from my perspective, is the election of someone who I feel is going to set the country on a downhill path that we may never recover from. I do fear that we have seen the last of the United States as we know it, because too many of us now buy into the left wing ideology professed by the next president.
Becky because in September I survived bacterial endocarditus, after being on life support for a month, and undergoing emergency open heart surgery WHILE still having infection. A brilliant surgeon saved my life, and I found out what an amazing husband and kids I have, who never left my side. I'm pretty young, 58, so I'm just happy to be alive. I am now back to work!
Sounds like you figured out "whats really important" after what you've been through this year. Stay healthy.

Have you ever heard of mabe pearls? They are cultured half pearls, and come in many beautiful interesting shapes. I have one that is tear shaped, almost an inch long, that is surrounded by filigreed gold that was done by a local artist.
Perhaps you could find a mabe pearl pendant, surrounded by diamonds that might fit the bill both ways. They can be quite unsual, mine always gets many comments. (This one is just one I found in a quick search).
Personally, I'd prefer an exquisite pearl piece to diamonds, but that's just me.

My older sister died two months ago, and it"s been 7 years since my wife Brenda. I still cry for both but I know where they are and who they're with. I couldn't take that away from them even if it were possible.
God let us have their love for a while and the tears we shed are interest on the loan.
This is too big of a question. I would say this was one of the most eventful years of my life.
Got a divorce, got a new job, got engaged, got married, bought a old house with almost every penny I had, worked like hell on the house, had a meltdown over the election.
08 was ok until Nov. Newbusters that know me know why. Dec. was a little better. So 08 was average 'til Nov, then it went downhill badly. So it's a toss-up... Nov sucked, Dec. was better but overall 08 sucked. I hope all of you have a Blessed New Year! I love you guys (and gals)!

I'm in NW Mt. up by the Canadian Border, not far at all from the Upper Panhandle Idaho Border...I lived in Ak too for about 9 years...good old Fairbanks is getting temps around 50 below now...
I don't miss Ak. but then again we have had breaking records in this area too this year...if you happen to watch Fox, they have reported about Spokane, Wa. and all the record breaking snowfall levels they have ever had for the month of Dec. we aren't that far away either geographically.

The year 2008 would perhaps be an average year...except for my deployment, where I got to meet so many great people who do great things day in and day out. That I could back such people doing what I did was truly glorious.
That, and I have to admit that it did go as I planned it to go back in that troubled summer of 2007, a year where seemingly everything went wrong.
If 2009 goes according to plan, I will end it with 18 grad school hours, a few more steps towards absolute financial independence, and perhaps with new experiences and adventures under my belt.

Thu, 01/01/2009 - 01:39 ET by UnsaneThe year 2008 would perhaps be an average year...except for my deployment, where I got to meet so many great people who do great things day in and day out. That I could back such people doing what I did was truly glorious.
That, and I have to admit that it did go as I planned it to go back in that troubled summer of 2007, a year where seemingly everything went wrong.
If 2009 goes according to plan, I will end it with 18 grad school hours, a few more steps towards absolute financial independence, and perhaps with new experiences and adventures under my belt.
