I picked both. But, if I

I picked both.

But, if I absolutely had to pick one or the other, it would be a dog. I love my kitty cat, but dogs are the greatest.

Growing up we always had at

Growing up we always had at least one dog and one cat around the house. My dad was a cat person - he liked dogs ok but he preferred cats.

My wife and I have both now - two basset hounds and two cats. It's constant entertainment around here.

I like dogs because they are smart and you can make them do smart things. I like cats because they are stupid and you can make them do stupid things. Just my opinion :).

Cats vs. Dogs

You have that backwards. One of my cats plays fetch, while the other one hides his ball so that he can't. Meanwhile, my neighbor's dog jumps out of moving vehicles and eats toads.

Both

You should always keep both around.  What else would you feed to the winning dogs?

 <just kidding>

Big, happy-go-lucky Golden

Big, happy-go-lucky Golden Retreiver that is just so happy to see me every night when I get home. Never copped an attitude in 8 years...

Coming up on my 20th wedding anniversary, and that has pretty much gone the same way. : )

I am dogless, right

I am dogless, right now.

I had to have my greyhound, Wiley, put down the day before Hurricane Francis, in 2004.  I'm still distraught over it....it was a good decision, though, he'd have never survived the storm.

I still miss the mutt, though, and his silly little rat face with the big black marble eyes.  As does his pal...Maggie, the fat cat, little green eyed devil.

This is what I don't understand about the whole Michael Vick thing....my pets are not like my kids...they're just my very good pals.  They keep me company.  They're just a great part of my landscape.

So how can someone treat them as disposable items?  I just don't get it.

So....I'm down to no dogs (too bad for me, but my life is a tad too complicated for a dog right now...cats are easier)....but cats are great pets, too.

Ostrich & Possum

For the liberals shouldn't ostrich with their head in the Iraq sand be offered and for their playing possum when it comes to bravery be included too.

Our family for the past 15

Our family for the past 15 years has rescued Border Collies from the local pound, although the correctness police have lately made it impossible to adopt them. They're widely known as being right up there in dog intelligence, but they still need a lot of atention.

We had a Border Collie until she died at 11 years old.....

Now we have a Cocker Spaniel, Jennifer.. we have had since she was 8 weeks...now 14 years old, sweet, fun, and stone deaf ...she won't be with us much longer.  We also have a Pomeranian, Giz... we got at 8 weeks..2 years old, and noisey, smart, absolute joy to be around.  .  A Pit Bull, named Angel; we have had since she was 5 weeks..and she is an angel..she is 7 years old and the Pomeranian's very best buddy.  I thought our Border Collie, Summer, was the smartest dog I had ever owned...nope! Angel is the brightest dog I have ever had, in fact, she is the smartest dog I have ever known of.  She was actually my youngest son's dog originally and a few years ago when he moved out...about 5 miles away, he took her with.  It took her about 5 minutes to scale a 6 foot chain link fence and come home.  He got an 8 foot kennel and put it out in his back yard by the fence.  She scaled the kennel fence...jumped from the top of the kennel fence to a tree on the neighbor's yard (she has always climbed trees), jumped down and came home.....we gave up and told her she could stay.  I really have no idea how many tricks she knows...even my grandkids have taught her things when we aren't around.  Speaking of grandkids; the younger ones, when they were 4 or 5, would ride her using her ears as their "handlebars".  Angel is one of the reasons I wouldn't mind using double OO buck on Vick and his buddies....why in God's name would someone abuse these beautiful and intelligent animals?  By the way, I am not a "animal rights" nut, I hunt, I have butchered cattle, sheep and chickens....I just love my dogs.

3 cats, 2 westies, 1 Norfolk

3 cats, 2 westies, 1 Norfolk terrier, 1 Cockatoo, 1 small house. Always lots of excitement.

You don't know

You don't know excitement... I have 4 dogs and 6 cats that are my pets, then I have 5 foster dogs and 23 foster cats  [1 momma cat with 6 kittens (9 weeks old),  another momma cat with 3 kittens (3 months old), five more kittens without momma cats (between 3 and 6 months old), another grown cat that someone thought was pregnant, but doesn't seem to be, and then a kitten and 5 cats who are isolated in our basement because they have respiratory infections contagious to other cats.]

Please spay or neuter your pets!!!  Anyone wanting a pet dog or cat, please check with local rescues and humane societies!!!  "my" foster pets are available through Northwest Animal Companions, 503-646-0171.

Edit: And I forgot to mention, two more sick cats coming to my house Sunday morning for quarantine.

i have a pet liberal

i provide for them entirely financially and materially, i get up each morning and they're right under my feet looking up at me whining with disatifaction. after feeding them i'm rewarded with a disgusted glance of contempt. throughout the day i get nothing but indifference regarding my existence until the next feeding time.

Hey lunatic

Excellent post!

i thought it fit

as much as i love cats i have to say liberals seem to display a similar attitude, but the difference is i respect a cat. at least a cat will kill a fly if ones in the house, it'll bury it's turds, and a cat will do a good job to keep it's butt clean as opposed to a liberal.

I'd say cats aren't like that

Humans just don't see most of their work because they're nocturnal, so they seem lazy to us. Were it not for cats, we'd be dealing with rodents and their diseases, like the cultures which hated cats in the past now must (see Korea). Most cats are naturally-great hunters, and they even can be trained to use a human toilet if you have patience and start with a kitten.
