September 10, 2007 - 12:44 ET by sarcasmoA NOTA choice on this one, too? I mean, Democrats I happen to like do exist, but they tend to be a bit unpopular with, well, other Democrats. (Kinda like the Republicans I happen to like & other Republicans, come to think of it!)

September 10, 2007 - 21:44 ET by SportPolitics" From left liberal to libertarian...
"My first entry into politics was in 1956, when I wore a Stevenson button in the 4th grade," Michael explains. "I was a 9-year-old political junkie, riding to the polls with my mother and grandmother, who were paid $10 by our precinct captain to drive neighbors to vote -- Democratic, of course."

About Terry Michael and This Site
From left liberal to libertarian...
" My political awareness dates back to a time when our campaigns were shifting from a mostly party-based to -- with the arrival of TV -- a predominately candidate-centered, media driven politics."
"I was a traditional 'complete the New Deal,' programmatic, wealth re-distributive, and identity politics left-liberal, from my teenage years in the Sixties until my work at the DNC in the Eighties," he explains.
"But after I started The Politics & Journalism Semester program -- a non-profit, but very much like starting a business -- my politics began evolving. I was reading and listening (to speakers at seminars for my students) outside the Democratic box - considering all shades of political opinion, as I escaped from the life of a partisan Beltway operative. Actually, my philosophic transformation started while I was at the DNC, and saw how we Democrats were increasingly losing touch with our middle and working class voting base, giving them an appearance of being interested only in a short-list of 'minority' identity groups."
"Government: out of my bank account and my bedroom,
away from my body, and out of the backyards of the rest of the world"
"Somewhere in the 1990's, I began drifting toward a libertarian political philosophy, summarized in my version (above) of the traditional libertarian exhortation: 'out of the board room and the bedroom.'
"The political issues that interest me most are reflected in the topics featured in the list of navigation links on the right side of this page: the neo-conservatives' outrageous elective war in Iraq; the Democratic Party's failure to define a political philosophy that moves beyond reactionary left-liberalism; the Republican Party's failure to divorce itself from its radical social conservative, politicized religious right wing, and its abandonment of fiscal responsibility; the socially divisive and ethically bankrupt practitioners of identity politics, who promote race consciousness and a corrupt spoils system known euphemistically as 'affirmative action;' the failures of our system for electing presidents, and the paucity of presidential leadership that results; the even greater failures of the legislative branch of the federal government, where 'congressional leadership,' with a few exceptions, is an oxymoron; the massive assault on free political speech known preposterously as campaign finance 'reform;' and the neo-prohibitionist, mass social insanity called the 'War on Drugs.""

September 10, 2007 - 16:25 ET by BruzillaI picked Kucinich because of his interviews with Sean Hannity. He's the only Dem who doesn't try to hide from Fox News, he takes his knocks for his positions on things, and doesn't cry or whine about being picked on. And, most importantly, when he's wrong on a fact and gets challenged, he asks where he can find details on the other point of view rather than just calling someone stupid or a liar.

September 10, 2007 - 16:29 ET by HumanEventsWell if the poll said "Worst Democrat", I'd **** for Hillary. The **** stands for "vote". I just couldn't stomach saying the words, "I'd **** for Hillary", even if it is voting for her for the WORST person.
But preferred Democrat? Hmmm, any one of these people on the list would be a disaster and downright danger for this country, especially in this post-911 era, much like Algore and John sKerry would have been. So which of these would I most prefer to wreck the United States? NOTA is indeed the only possible way to answer the question. Or, yes, writing in Zell Miller's name. And perhaps Gene Taylor of Mississippi.

September 10, 2007 - 18:14 ET by CatherwoodI voted for Kucinich because he's has to be one of the funniest poles I have ever encountered. He's funny without even trying to be. Heck, he doesn't even have to speak. I can look at him with the tv on mute and crack up. His responses to questions reminds me of a cross between the Firesign Theatre and Jack Benny.

September 11, 2007 - 00:09 ET by third eyeIts extremely hard for me to take Kucinich seriously, so I dont even try. I vote we give him a reality tv show.
Preferred Dem
September 10, 2007 - 18:18 ET by BlondeOkay, I read this to mean who would you prefer to be on top of their ticket...not who I'd vote for. I'd never vote for any of them on this list. Maybe Joe Lieberman or Zell Miller....but you couldn't PAY me enough to vote for this crew...even if I were dead.
I therefore selected John Edwards, figuring he had the highest probability of implosion, a la the Howard Dean scream.
But hey, that's just me.

September 10, 2007 - 21:17 ET by OIFveteranOne of the forums (non-political) has polls often. Sometimes the polls offer no choices that appeal to anyone, so as a remedy the moderators started putting in an option so silly and irrelevant to the poll just to amplify how very few, if any of the readers, actually supported one of the non-choices.
That forum uses "Surprise, Buttsecks!", which is a popular LOLCat theme. Though, that particlar phrase is too low brow for this site, how about something like "Intergalactic Lord Xenu", or something along those lines.

September 10, 2007 - 23:38 ET by Carl KolchakCruise plays Von Stauffenberg the Colonel who was involved in the plot to kill Hitler in summer of 1944. The plot to kill Hitler is pretty interesting, and the story too. It's a pretty interesting "What If?" in regards to what would have happened if it had been successful. I have to admit I don't watch Cruise movies much anymore though.
one scenario...
September 11, 2007 - 00:03 ET by Conservative_in_mass.Had the plot to kill Hitler succeeded, the prevailing theory was that most of the German General Staff was in favor of surrendering to the Western Allies and then joining them in repelling the Soviet advance from the East. By this time (June 1944) experienced field commanders knew the handwriting was on the wall.
The plot failed because all of the explosives in the briefcase placed under the conference room table did not go off. They came that close...

Kucinich only honest one in the bunch
September 10, 2007 - 22:16 ET by kwAt least Kucinich is honest, unlike those phonies Clinton and Edwards. Hate the man's politics and views, but you got to respect the fact he is honest.
With news like this, the Democoruptic Party may be done for.
September 11, 2007 - 07:27 ET by BritcomWASHINGTON (AP)—Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign said Monday it will return $850,000 in donations raised by Democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu, who is under federal investigation for violating election laws.
Clinton, D-N.Y., previously had planned only to give to charity $23,000 she received from Hsu for her presidential and senatorial campaigns and to her political action committee, HillPac.
The FBI is investigating whether Hsu paid so-called straw donors to send campaign contributions to Clinton and other candidates, a law enforcement official said Monday. [emphasis added]

September 11, 2007 - 08:03 ET by VT Con ManThis will likely not touch Shillary, though it should be the immediate end of her campaign. She will be smothered with gratitude by the MSM for "staying out" of this by...giving the $850,000 back. Unfortunately, the only way this will involve her as a Democrat, is if she is brought up on charges. We will see...
If this were a Republican/Conservative, this would have ended long ago, with an immediate announcement of the end of their campaign.
