LEON the Fat hater
July 26, 2007 - 10:11 ET by Six String SpiffHi, fat Hater!
How's the hatin going for you? I've been meaning to ask you what you consider to be 'fat'. Give me the 'fat' weight threshold.
What the MSSM doesn't report can kill you.
Oh I do hate fat people oh
July 26, 2007 - 10:20 ET by LeonOh I do hate fat people oh so much. They are repulsive to me.
It's tough to set a standard for what is fat. It depends on so many factors.
Height, weight, body fat percentage, muscle content, etc.
For instance, I have friends that are technically overweight, but they look fit, they just have a high muscle content.
If the doctor tells you you're overweight, you're not yet in Leon's category of FAT.
In my mind, you have to be classified by a doctor as obese to be considered FAT.
As for my own personal day to day definition, I can only explain that with my eyes. Fat people are the ones that are big and gross. Sweaty with heavy breathing. Often carrying a grease soaked bag of fast food, a massive cup of 7-11 soda, or a gigantic (and wildly unhealthy) 64oz iced coffee with whipped cream and caramel topping. The species of the fat human can also be distinguished by their visibly un-hip/ill-fitting clothes since they are often relegated to shopping in specialty stores.
Fat is fat. Simple as that. And it's gross.
That's why I like Shaq's new show. He's trying to make a difference. He's trying to get kids to learn how to take care of themselves, how to get exercise, how to eat right, and how to have self-respect.
I view fat people in the same light as I view drug addicts.
But I digress. Don't get me started on the most dangerous epidemic in America. This movement towards acceptance of fatties is out of control. Fat is gross. Fat is wrong. No more fat. I think we should ban fat people from public places and public services, the same way we've banned smokers.
Come on don't hold back....

July 26, 2007 - 14:23 ET by LeonActually Dag,
Since I joined (almost a year ago) I have changed jobs.
Which I've mentioned on this blog before. Nice little upgrade.
So do you not work or are you also wasting your employers time? What about the rest of the NB? Are those that are employed also wasting their employer's time?
I am fortunate to work in a job where I don't have to be baby-sat. I don't have somebody watching my every move (it's one of them white collar jobs). They hired me b/c i take care of business. When my business is done, I can spend my time how I see fit. I am not paid hourly, I am paid a salary. Therefore, I am not wasting my employer's time. And if you were to check, aside from the period of about a month this past spring when i was moving to a new city and gearing up for a new job I don't spend that much time on here between 9 & 6 except for days when I have finished all my work. Now as for after 6, you got me. I spend some time on here. That's when Blonde and I get to have our 'special' time.
So use the same old employer line, but if you're not going to apply it to yourself, and everybody else, than it's for the birds.
Leon/Hater damn boy
July 26, 2007 - 14:30 ET by dagdaDamn boy I was pretty sure it was you before, but now I know it.
BTW, even when you are on salary, when you are done with your work, you are really never done with your work. You just start on the next project. I know you will never be an employer so you would not realize that you are cheating your employer, but you still are. And you are probably using your employer's computer to blog.
Personally, I am retired. That allows me to get on when and if I want. I still do a little contracting if the job interests me, but I do not have to work, if I do not want to.

I've seen that in manyof us so called professionals, they get so convinced of their own mastery their butts are hanging out. And they don't see it. (I believe Washington is the capitol of clueless butts hanging out land.)
Though I also worked hard to get my masters and am thankful for having a good research professor, I have to admit, i had classmates who i had to question how they got out of high school. Much less why were they getting a graduate degree.
In undergraduate i had a heavy dose of systems theory. In graduate school they were just learning about systems theory. And IMHO the facualty really didn't understand systems theory. They confused the terms for the reality of systems theory. It was almost comical to watch. But don't laugh too loud. you want to graduate.

July 26, 2007 - 11:39 ET by BruzillaI feel sorry for you Leon, I really do. You are someone who obsesses about other people, and that's so sad to me. They upset you, yet you can't control their behavior, you can't make them change, and you feel bad about it. I think you should internalize more.
I used to be thin and all, but now Leon would be getting himself in a lather over me because now I have a belly. But the truth is, I quit caring about what folks like Leon think of me long ago. I'm on the post-40 downslope of life, I served my country, I raised my kids, and now it's "me" time. I work for a marathoner who's always whining about his back, his legs, his muscles, etc. He's about zero percent body fat, in great shape, and can't even enjoy a piece of cake when a coworker has a birthday. In short, he's going to be miserable for the rest of his life, but leave a great-looking corpse for the viewing.
As for me, I'm going to enjoy my BBQ, with the occasional hot fudge sundae, and watch TV from the comfort of my recliner. And yes, I'll sweat and huff & puff going up the stairs... I'll disgust the folks like Leon and hopefully my undertaker as well... but I'll enjoy the time I have left. I mean, what's the point in living longer if you have to be miserable as you're living longer?

July 26, 2007 - 13:13 ET by LeonExactly Helen,
That's the point. Fat people do impact the lives of others.
They take up more room on the sidewalk, on the train, on the planes (don't tell me you don't groan when the obese whale has the aisle seat and you have the window seat), in the elevator, in the movie theater, at the ball game, in the store, everywhere they go they are a nuisance.
Their fatness directly impacts the lives of others, so I feel I do have the right to complain.
So yes, they are being selfish in their inconveniencing of everybody else, not too mention the millions and millions of dollars that are wasted each year taking care of these fatties.
Again, why would you support being fat? It's so absurd.
Hey, Leon, You know, I
July 26, 2007 - 15:28 ET by JohnMHey, Leon,
You know, I understand your point of view. Having to squeeze past an oversized person into my seat on the plane is a major inconvenience. And yes, they're driving up the price of that plane ticket because the airline has to expend more fuel moving them in their seat, they consume more drinks, eat more snacks, etc. And yes, they make it more difficult to be the first one off the plane because they're in the way.
Just stop and listen to how that sounds. Can you hear all the judgments, and how the other person is objectified? Can you see that it all comes from a point of view that puts oneself at the center of the universe? Do you feel the undercurrent of snobbery and elitism?
A lot of other people in the same situation may simply take note, move to their seat, say something pleasant, and hope the large seated person didn't have to smell their sweat. You see, a lot of other people are aware that no one is perfect, and that each one of us has traits that someone could take issue with. We just don't make issues out of them for others because we're leaving room for others to not make issues out of them for us.
Absurd? No, it's the Golden Rule. Or put another way: civility.
Does any of this make sense to you?
(Don't get upset if I don't respond immediately. I've got to run. I'm self-employed, and am often on for a few minutes, then off awhile, then maybe the next day or so I get back on. But I am interested how you relate to what I've written here. I'll check back.)

You don't have to be a marathon runner, but it wouldn't hurt to have a little self-respect. A hysterical for instance: In Philly a new building going up intended to use new waterless urinal systems. It was to be a green building the likes of which Philly hadn't seen yet. Well that mad the greenies happy but the plumbers union was furious. Now mind you only half of the bathrooms employ urinals and every single bathroom still has toilets and sinks but that wasn't enough. Well Mayor John Street, literally the most corrupt politician EVER compromised. "have the plumbers run the lines and we just won't hook them up" WT@#$%!!! PANDERER
Witness the casual pushing aside of the "black vote" now too as the libs court the "hispanic vote" and try to lock it away.

July 26, 2007 - 08:21 ET by sarcasmoThe left actually thinks political diversity is dangerous, but my googling efforts are failing to find the infuriating Leonard Pitts column from the Miami Herald to that effect. While he's absolutely wrong, he put it quite well. The kind of political diversity provided by people who don't fit on a left-right line is especially dangerous to them. I voted "other."

I voted, "other". They
July 26, 2007 - 08:34 ET by kathleenirishI voted, "other". They don't 'love' racial diversity, either. They are made up of hypocritical white elite liberals who live beyond and out-of-touch of real and average Americans. They talk a talk, but don't walk the walk. Busing? All for it. As long as it stays IN the INNER city, away from the Volvos, Hybrids, and BMWs. Toss some welfare and projects at them. Talk about 'two Americas'. Get teary-eyed when you see a MLK speech. Spike the truth about what real empowerment is for the poor underclass and what the real source of their struggle and pain is, point fingers at conservatives, call them names like, "racist" and "Nazi"; worship the so-called "War on Poverty". Don't look at how the government programs are subsidizing this community's downward spiral. Oppose education reform and improved standards and expectations; fight against school choice for those stuck with hellish-nightmare schools and kowtow to the teachers' unions! The biggest hypocritical mantra of all by Liberal minions and their MSM enablers: "It's for the children".
I read somewhere yesterday: "Why can't we 'cut-and-run' from that 'war'?"

July 26, 2007 - 11:57 ET by balboaOh right, as if conservatives have a long history of wanting minorities living in their neighborhoods. Rrrright.
Conservatism is just wrong!
July 26, 2007 - 08:40 ET by pilsenerLiberals do believe in political diversity - far left to center left. It's just a matter of correct & wrong. Liberals are correct, Socialists are mostly correct, Conservatives are wrong!
Conservatism from center right to far right is simply WRONG-THINKING, and therefore not deserving of any consideration.
Racial diversity is correct - letting Conservatives have an equal voice is wrong.
The common people are too easily swayed by the incorrect propaganda of the political right, and therefore must be shielded from that wrong-thinking. The common people will be better off when they realize that the smart people ( liberal politicians, academics, and media) are best suited to rule.

Why 'other' fits this poll.
July 26, 2007 - 08:49 ET by acaiguanaDiversity is the sticker here. To the left, diversity is apportioned among 'neighborhood' groups set up under the concept that 'everyone' needs to give 'input' to the political process. This is like block committees in Communist states.
Of course, the political 'process' will actually end up implementing whatever decision was made by the 'central committee' regardless of what the block committees want. This 'input' stuff is just to make people think they are able to voice their opinions.
And then, of course, if one's opinion is outside the entire framework, such as:
"Huh? I don't want my kid to be socially engineered at all! Let me home school him."
Well, this requires being sent to a re-education camp (or rehab and counselling if you prefer).
Ah well. Diversity by any other name is still the same bland ol' bland ol' Leftist class structure of rules for everyone but those who make them.
ACA
...
Quoted from: 'Acaiguana Notes from the Bomb Shelter' (soon to be a movie at theaters near you)
Thus, "Diversity" has
July 26, 2007 - 13:29 ET by Ten7s"Diversity" has nothing to do with actual difference in reality but is merely a function of the bare minimum amount of sops that the ruling socialist elite must give to each of the bureaucratically mandated groups to maintain the illusion of reflecting the will of the people.
And in the current American political environment, "promoting diversity" by using different races is a tool for destroying The Republic which is a competing power base. In short "diversity" isn't true difference but merely Orwellian double-talk used to gain political advantage.
They think political diversity is bad
July 26, 2007 - 08:58 ET by shannon20I feel the reason they think it is bad is because they think all conservatives are backwoods rednecks. They couldn't actually take any of us serious, we are just cavemen. The media treats us like that as well. I am just a bit sick of it.

Another Other
July 26, 2007 - 09:01 ET by JohnMThe first 3 choices are actually asking me to decide how libs view Political Diversity, and don't offer me a choice that reflects their thinking about Racial Diversity.
IMNSHO, libs are in love with the concept of racial diversity because it makes them feel good to identify people as being "in need". Then they get to be paternalistic and condescending, which warms their hearts. Yet their actions do nothing to enable and empower those "less fortunate", because otherwise they would lose their "poor huddled masses" and wouldn't have anyone to "express their concern" about.
Racial diversity is totally separate from political diversity. Libs want to crush political diversity because they resent anyone taking away their power to establish myths (such as racial diversity and AGW), which are the things that make them feeeeeel that they can be seen by others as good people.
Upon what do I based these strong opinions? I am in a very small non-lib minority in this town and have to face them everyday. I have had many encounters and know their song. And it annoys them that I don't just go away! (Anyone else want to move in, dig in, and challenge them in one of their deepest strongholds? Sometimes it can be quite satisfying!)
Having recently been
July 26, 2007 - 09:19 ET by HelenSHaving recently been apprised of the whole narcissistic personality disorder concept and having researched it a little bit yesterday, I have discovered that I now have a goal in life.
It is my burning desire to be a major thorn-in-the-flesh of any and all narcissists. I long to be a major pain-in-the-*ss for any self-absorbed microcephalic in my sphere of influence.
If they want affirmation about their superiority, it will be my duty and privelege to sarcastically remind them that they're scum. If they want adoration, they will get my contempt.
I am poised and ready to undermine and frustrate any "entitled" dreg that I encounter.
And I can't wait :o)

July 26, 2007 - 09:05 ET by walkDiversity is a code for any voting block that is more likely to vote democartic. Certainly the poor and less educated. Any citizen (or illegal) that wants more from the government.
Diversity
July 26, 2007 - 09:29 ET by billbLiberals only believe in social diversity when it occures within the 36% tax bracket. Who would not want to practice diversity with Oprah, Cosby, etc.? How many of their friends use food stamps? Do they even know anyone who HASN"T gone to college? And of course, they don't know a single person who voted for George Bush
It is the goal of liberals
July 26, 2007 - 09:53 ET by Shooter1002It is the goal of liberals to stamp out political diversity much as it was/is Stalin's or Kim Jong Il's goal.
Two examples: Global Warming and the Fairness Doctrine.
According to liberals, the warming discussion is over so let's all march in solid unison behind Al Gore. No need to listen to any facts diverse from those which you are told to believe! Just cover your ears, believe and obey.
In the guise of promoting 'fairness' liberals hope to stamp out any opinionated speech diverse from their own. No need to explain the mechanics here, just to say that, already in possession of network, print, Hollywood and academic opinion, liberals are trying very hard to remove the only avenue of diversity from their dogma.
So, while there's some truth to each of the first 3 choices in your poll, I chose 'Other' since liberals are making a deliberate concerted effort to eliminate any diversity of opinion.
Conservatives are merely content to argue their ideas openly and defeat liberalism by virtue of the correctness of their positions on issues and not to prevail by silencing their opponents with a bat like a schoolyard bully.
Anti-Global Warming
