McFrigginCain

He needs to stop being such a whiny baby. Either dem would have no second thoughts about running an ad far worse against him. The days of honor and respect in politics has ended IMO.

John McCain needs to stop

John McCain needs to stop kicking Republicans and kissing Democrats!!! He may gain a few friends among the liberals, but only until November. Then he will see where their loyalty lies! And in the meantime he continues to Pi$$ off the very people whose support he can't win without!

You have to wonder, what is WRONG with this man????

I guess he thinks he is

I guess he thinks he is being honorable with this "bipartisan" crap. The only thing I have noticed with bipartisanship, is that the left usually gets what they want, and the right has to bend over and take it.

What doesn’t kill you, only makes you pissed off. -Children of Bodom

yet we keep doing it

I don't understand why we keep doing it. Time and time again, the left sticks it to us and the Repubs say "That's okay, as long as we just get along"

GRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrr

Who knows.

Maybe its some sick fetish or something. All I know is that more Republicans need to find their balls or grow a pair and tell the left where they can go and what they can do when they get there.

Morning mb... You have to

Morning mb...

You have to wonder, what is WRONG with this man????

I don't...he is showing who he really is and always has been...I for one am glad.

He loves to stcik it to the conservatives every chance he gets, always has.

He is complaining about the ads and 527's...he made them legal with McCain/Feingold.

He put down the President too yesterday with his remarks about Katrina...

I am outraged by this piece of work....again.

Btw...if he really thinks he is gonna' get voters by putting down conservatives and the republican party he is more delusional than I thought.

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

The McCain Party

John McCain's primary constituency is the MSM. He knew what answer the MSM interviewers wanted and he gave it to them.

He must believe that, just like in the Senate, he only needs a portion of Republican votes to get his way, because enough Democrats will be on his side.

I have no idea what is actually going on in McCain's brain, but today's words and actions indicate a man who is delusional in some perverse way.

I want to run an honorable campaign

So far McCain has not had too much mud flung in his direction so his quest to run an honorable campaign may sound good now, but with battle-tested Clinton and/or Obama coming at him this summer and fall, he's gonna wish he was at the Hanoi Hilton again where he could get better treatment.

RINOS

This is part of the disloyalty President Bush has suffered his entire presidency. The RINOS never, never stood against the lies and distortions thrown at him. They sat back and watched it, or worse  jumped on the bandwagon of canards. And they never fought the good fight. I respect McCain deeply for his service as a young man. But now he is proving once again that he is simply a petty old fart who has nothing on Jimmy Carter in this characteristic. Look at his Katrina comments. This country needs a leader so desperately. But we have no choice in this election. Truly sad.

BTW, if you really want to get sick, read Peggy Noonan's column today. Talk about "elitism"!!

NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"

Leadership is key

Very true.  America needs a leader as steadfast as Bush with the communication skills and fire to back it up in the face of our enemies and national problems.  No chance of that happening for at least another four years.

So with this lack of leadership, what are we to do?  I say- It's time for American ingenuity, not government to rise above these insane oil prices.  It's time for American determination, not government diplomacy to conquer Islamofascism.  It's time for American business dollars, not government tax dollars to find market solutions to economic woes.  And it's time American people, not government policy to decide what values to hold dear.

NO RINOs!

McInsane is proving himself to be the perfect Democrat candidate.

Yea and Amen, mattm!

mattm,

Yea and Amen! Why do I feel like I am going to have to hold my nose when I vote in November? Time and time again, McCain has demonstrated that he can't seem to make up his mind WHAT party he is affiliated with. I am fed up with RINOs that stradle the fence like he and the Terminator do everyday.

Could this be a potential achilles heel for the Repubs in the fall? Could be...

As the presumptive nominee,

As the presumptive nominee, he's the leader of the party. By not backing the NC party, he's, in effect, running against the party of which he's the head. McCain suffers from a disconnect with the political reality around him and seems determined to further neuter the GOP.

I don't see how denouncing

I don't see how denouncing members of your own party in this case would be a good move.

Well looks like we get to chose between a democrat in a republican's body and a socialist. Pray that congress can be cleaned out.

"They need to have a course in college called common sense and everyone should take it. Problem is there isn't too many people that could pass or teach it." -my grandfather

He didn't.

"
I don't see how denouncing members of your own party in this case would be a good move."

He didn't. He denounced Republicans.

It *can* be a good move....

McCain just needs to let the issue go now. He's made his point and denounced the ad. He now needs to STFU and let it air. There is nothing racist about it.

There *could* be some good strategery here if McCain denounces the ad publicly, giving the impression to the media that he is "above such things", but then sits back and allows it to air. For that to happen, McCain needs to zip it up. Now.

"women and minorities hardest hit"

For McCain it is the right

For McCain it is the right thing to do.  Conservatives, like me, would not have denounced it but politically it bodes well for McCain.  I'm fine with him denouncing it because they are running it anyway.  He knows he will get the votes of conservatives over either of the socialists that the dems have running so he doesn't have to appease us right now.  McCain will be a lock in the general election because he appeals to the middle more than the other two and denouncing this innocent ad is a way for him to stay above the fray for the moderate vote which is the key to winning.  The greatest thing McCain has going for him in this election is his far left competition.

AGREE

McCain needs to appeal to as broad a base of people including independent minded Democrats (Reagan Democrats) in order to beat either Hillary or Barry.

You are right - it is already out there and it will remain out there without McCain. It allows him to rise above the mud slinging that is going on within Democrats and activist groups who hate either Hillary or Barry.

I am sure that he made those "condemnations" with either crossed fingers or a wink.

The problem is that

The problem is that acceding to the Dems demands on this defacto agrees with them that it was a racist advertisement.  In my opinion it is not.  The advertisement simply shows Wrights statement, but does not reference race in any way shape or form.

But by buckling under so easily, it defacto sets the precedent that just to MENTION someone who is black in a derogatory manner is racist.

Last night on O'Reilly, both of the Black activists on the show indicated that the advertisement was racist.  I was SOOOO hoping that "Bill O" would ask what was racist about it and ask for an actual definition.  But he let me down.

BD

Be prepared for McCain to raise our taxes, ration gasoline for the planet, and leave the borders wide open, all the while with a wink and a nod that it will be okay.

It's worked out well with campaign finance reform!

I'll be prepared on the

I'll be prepared on the chance of all this, but unlike the other two candidates he isn't making these items campaign promises.  Unfortunately, this election forces us to choose the lesser of two evils and we have to determine who will not harm this country the most for the next 4 years.  I'm no fan of McCain but he'll get my vote to keep the others out.

Also, any criticism of Obama and his policies is going to be labeled as racist by the msm, that is already clear.  I have faith that with examples like this NC GOP ad, the public will see through their ruse .  I can't believe anyone saw anything racist in that commercial.  The real issue was liberals can't stand be called out for being unpatriotic so a racist charge is easy to throw out to divert attention.

Agree

I agree that no one on our side should reference that commercial or anything about Wright as racist. I have to go back, but I think McCain's so-called condemnation was that it was just in bad taste.

I agree that I found the commercial to be factual and actually in good taste about a bad-tasting topic.

I look at it as good cop/ bad cop, which is fine as long as the message gets out there.

Yep, but I guess it shows

Yep, but I guess it shows how much of a hair-trigger the left has that even THIS advertisement is quoted as "Racist."

I guess ANYTHING the GOP advertises for will be considered racist:

  • Tax cuts?   You are a racist....
  • Anti-Tax increases?  You are racist....
  • Increased Defense spending?  You are a racist....
  • Disagree on welfare policy?  You are a racist...

Left one out

Mortgage rejection? You are a racist . . .

Why do you think we are in this subprime mess?

Yep... or even Not know

Yep... or even

  • Not know what a Variable Rate loan is?  You are a racist....

Not only no ....but hell

Not only no ....but hell no!

Linda Daves for President!

The RINO will keep showing his true colors...as he always has in the Senate....sad state of affairs for us out here in the real world.

Lord I wished we could draft someone else.

My two cents on this matter.

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

It has been a long time

It has been a long time since the NC GOP showed any balls. Many years ago they ran an ad against the DEMs in the state house and senate about spending the whole thing. It was based on the Alka Seltzer had about "I can't believe I ate the whole thing." It worked. The Republicans took over the House. The ad is not as much against Obama as it is against the two nimrods running for governor on the Dem ticket.

Negative ads....

It is a reality in American politics that one cannot win a general election by convincing voters that he or she is the right person for the job. Elections are won by convincing voters that the other person is wrong.

I detest the use of negative campaign ads, but they do work. It will be interesting to see if McCain changes his tune during the general.

MC CAIN...

I would love to see the nomination stripped from him when the convention comes to my hometown. He does'nt deserve the support of conservatives. He pisses on conservatives all the time, while kissing the butts of every liberal in the Senate. John McCain needs to understand that most Republicans will be voting against the marxist that the Dems put forward, not for McCain.

Of course, this will not happen, McCain will get the nomination, & if elected, will do great damage to the GOP.

John McCain needs to understand that most Republicans will be voting against the marxist that the Dems put forward

You mean like how the GOP understood that in 1976...and 1988...and 1992...and 1996...

Do you really think the GOP will magically start promoting true conservatives?

CANDANCE...

The GOP will promote acutual conservatives when they are forced to, otherwise no the won't. Basically, the libs in the GOP will have to be forced out, either from within, or when defeated at election time. I think an Obama Presidency would be great for the conservative movement, but I don't trust the RINOs with limiting the damage untill congress could be fixed. There would be a great cost to the nation as well, we may get to find out.

NCGOP

I've remained quiet about this issue so far because I wanted to get the facts without my anti-McCain hatred coloring my decision.

Alas though, it seems my gut reaction was right. Here are my thoughts:

-The ad was not a smear job. It didn't say anything worse than what we've been saying on NB for weeks, and anyway Obama *is* too liberal for NC.

-The NCGOP was not campaigning for McCain in the first place - they were discussing the NC governor race and how the local Dems were loyal to Obama. So I fail to see how it was McCain's business

-Rush Limbaugh makes a lot of sense that McCain's people scream at conservies to shut up and be loyal but then he can stab the GOP in the back whenever he pleases.

McCain had no brilliant strategy when he opposed the tax cuts in 2003 and he has no billiant strategy now. It's more of the same, vintage John McCain, and he'll keep doing it until he throws the entire GOP under the bus.

Liberals Will Still Whine

You can never, never, never, never make a liberal happy, no matter how far you go, because they will always, always, always, always say that it wasn't enough--so, why try?  Ironically, liberals aren't happy unless they're whinning.

Bad move

It was a bad move. But not because of the party disloyalty, in fact that may help him in the short term. It was a mistake because it validates the notion that linking Obama and Wright is racist. As the race continues the left is going to do whatever they can to paint any opposition to Obama in that light and McCain agreeing with them doesn't help.

We need to figure out a way

We need to figure out a way to un-nominate this POS!

Not sure how one does this, or if it can be done, but if it can be done, it needs to happen.

You don't get anywhere in

You don't get anywhere in politics, or life, by alienating your friends for the purpose of appeasing your enemies.  The only thing this assures is that nobody will like you.  Just ask GWB.

Read Limbaugh's take on it

I wouldn't say it's a bad move. The same type ad run by Hillary is run by Republicans and the MSM has a fit, taking the local ad national. McCain and RNC denounce it, dodging the "racist" label for now. MSM will have a bigger fit when Republicans in NC don't discontinue the ad, keeping the Rev. Wright issue in the national spotlight.

I think it's good for McCain to stay on the high road as long as possible. It may be two-faced, but politically profitable.

bfb... Politically

bfb...

Politically profitable....

How so?

He is stabbing his own party face to face...again, how is that politically profitable...he is crazy if he thinks he doesn't need the base of the party.

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

bluefeet

Was he on the high road when he lied about Mitt Romney three months ago?

Candance- I wasn't talking

Candance- I wasn't talking about anything with Romney from 3 months ago. I'm only commenting on staying above the fray on this ad in NC.

Bigtimer- maybe profitable was a bad term. Any inaction would equal complicity and "guilt" in the eyes of the MSM. I wouldn't think McCain's denouncement is going to alienate his base. I think both the NC Republicans and McCain are on the same page and acting in accord to further disrupt the Dems nomination fight while keeping the heat off of McCain.

*scratches head*

So the man who has built an entire political career from lying and attacking his enemies is suddenly expected to be above the fray?

What if I said "forget the lies Hillary told last year, right now she's being honest." Would you defend her?

bfb.. This isn't any

bfb.. This isn't any strategy with McCain or keeping above the fray, he is wanting the the leftists, moderates, anybody but conservatives to vote for him, he could care less about the base, he thinks he is smarter than all....he has done this numerous times...his remarks towards Katrina last night were despicable...he did this to get votes from the blacks...it is getting old, not to me, I have watched him do this over and over in the Senate with issues that conservatives wanted, only for him to deflect and destroy.

I won't vote the back-stabbing guy.

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

I hate the notion that it is

I hate the notion that it is considered taking the high road to ignore
the truth. The ads aren’t racist, they expose racists. They aren’t
dirty, they expose a dirty relationship. This is an issue that Obama
needs to address. McCain had more vile dirty tricks against Romney than
this ad…and he has the gale to past judgment?
And if you pass judgment, make sure you aren’t just saying things that
the media wants to hear, but that you are standing on principles.
Every time I think I could hold my nose and vote for McCain, he reminds me why he is unfit to be President.

McCain

John McCain thinks that his actions/inactions are appealing to the chaste "middle-of-the-roaders" and their vote will go to him in November and make him the winner. You don't automatically get all the votes in the middle John, and you're losing the base that you think have to vote for you. NO WE DON'T! You are a craven little man who was once a brave young American. Where'd it all go, John?

McLoser

Why not just pass a bill banning all political ads?

If conservatives are RIGHT, then liberals must be WRONG.

Juan McCain is an unrepentant ass.

Carbon Credits Smoke'em if you got'em!

Hear that sound? It's the sound of conservatives not voting...

...for McCain in November.

I am seriously beginning to doubt his ability to beat either Barry or Hillary in November.

If it turns out (and I still believe this quite possible) that Al Gore emerges on the top of a brokered dem ticket after the convention, McCain is dead meat.

The man has totally lost his nads.

Theme for Election '08: Who cares?

How's it his business anyway?

This ad that McVain is so busy repudiating to any left leaning media hound that will listen to him has nothng to DO with him! I know that most national politicians have egos as big as all outdoors, but we do have a gubernatorial election coming up here in NC this fall. And the two leading Democratic candidates, Lt. Gov. Bev Perdue and Richard Moore have practically broken their necks to embrace and endorse Obama. The ad is simply a reminder to the NC electorate of the associations of Obama, and that this is the person the Democratic candidates for governor are supporting. What's wrong with that? And why does McVain think anyone in the NC GOP cares what he thinks of how they run the gubernatorial campaign? The state GOP has to do something since the state has a penchant for electing Democratic governors; the best way to drag them down is to link them to the national Democratic party, since the state usually goes Republican in national elections. Most of the other Democratic candidates for governor in the past have tried to distance themselves from the national Party, but this time they have embraced the national Party...so all of this is fair game, IMO.
