Funny, I've never heard
December 6, 2007 - 13:57 ET by Chris NormanFunny, I've never heard Harry Reid's Mormon faith brought up as an issue.
SHACK CHRIS
December 6, 2007 - 14:24 ET by Airforce_5_ORight on Target!!!!!!
I have a fish named Mohammad, and my son has a stuffed toy named Jesus. The Muslims want my head and Kieth says I'm going to Hell.
But!
December 6, 2007 - 23:10 ET by heldmywI thought that, in order to be inducted into the higher orders of Democratocracy you had to renounce God, eat a baby, and kiss a goat on the bumhole... And that explains the look on their faces!
I'm sure I've got the manual around here somewhere...
IMO The MSM would only care
December 6, 2007 - 14:08 ET by mattmIMO The MSM would only care in that they would be praising him for his courage in speaking out on a controversial subject, and for his keen grasp of the Constitution.
Really none of the above
December 6, 2007 - 14:10 ET by Lame CherryBut I voted for the suspicious GOP'ers, but with this caveat.
If Romney were a Democrat, as in backing queer power in a liberal state, then him being a Mormon was of no matter.........it would be the same if his name were Bill Clinton Romney.
Then Mormonism would be wonderful as multi wives would be solution to Bill's sex attacks on women.
Moromonism would be a beautiful Book of Mormon carrying home from temple experience as Bill said he did not have sex with that woman.
Mormonism would then be a good national religion in combining Obama in the pulpit Masonic rites that all perversion was god and who really needs all that triune God thing and salvation..........you got Brigham and Joe and angels showing up with new and cool mandates that change with the social times.
I knew Mormons, I grew up with Mormons, I loved a Mormon and I know that Mormons are a lying manipulative cult of Masonic rites. I do not condemn them as that is God's realm........but I sure am careful around them as they need to get set straight as the Jehovah's Witness and the Muslims among us.
Salvation comes from Jesus Christ alone........and no Bill Clinton carrying his Bible in one hand and sticky cigar in the other makes no religion worth following.
The media only hates Christians as they are real. They loathe all religions the GOP has and love all the religions Democrats cling to.

A word of advice for Lame Cherry
December 6, 2007 - 22:22 ET by IamTinmanLame, the meds are not working, better get a stronger prescription.
Mormons are remarkably like you and I. To try and portray them as any different than the rest of us average folks is quite simply a lie. We have had Mormons in positions of power before and have congressmen and public officials all over this country who are members of the mormon faith. It's highly likely that they are conservative in nature although Harry Reid isn't, but are certainly no cult and you only show your ignorance with that diatribe.
BTW I was raised a mormon and always considered myself and my fellow mormons as christians, albiet with some slightly different beliefs as do all christian religions, but not fundamentally different.
Iam you missed her point
December 6, 2007 - 23:05 ET by candanceLame Cherry was being sarcastic. She was basically saying that Republican Mormons are all crazy polygamists while Democrat Mormons (like Harry Reid) all are loveable Christians.
Missing the point
December 6, 2007 - 23:12 ET by IamTinmanIs what I do best CanDance. Sarcasm quite often just passes me by without knocking. Actually I had a difficult time understanding anything at all in her rant.
The main difference
December 6, 2007 - 14:16 ET by BeowulfThe main difference is that for a Dem , it would be covered as a positive thing.
The Closed Mind Erects Strong Barriers
bah
December 6, 2007 - 17:38 ET by UndercoverConservativetotally trick question. To become a prominent Democrat, one cannot proclaim faith or any sort of absolute moral and behavioral code. Moderate Democrats with faith and conviction wouldn't make it anywhere in the system. Unless they hid their faith and practiced hypocrisy in their actions at all times.
To be a Democrat is to change with the winds, to sell the image rather than the product. Faith is a tool to be used, then abandoned when it no longer promotes Career and Power.
Romney's speech
December 6, 2007 - 14:47 ET by ThisnThatDid anyone happen to catch Romney's speech today. Absolutely fantastic.
I also caught two minutes of the MSNBC reaction -- the Joe S. show. Joe was ok. But that woman just made me ill. Her response? Believe it or not, she was complaining that the speach just excluded some important segments of our society -- athiests, in particular -- so she was very, very disappointed and thought the whole thing was a failure.
I'm truely sorry my channel clicker got stuck on MSNBC.

Could have been worse, TNT. Romney's speech on CNN
December 6, 2007 - 15:00 ET by RJbegan with a split screen that showed negative "factoids" about Mormons DURING THE SPEECH.
Yes, as Rush said, Romney raised the bar. He talked about the principles this country was founded on and what we as a country should continue to aspire to.
A refreshing change from gotcha politics that worry, for example, about whether or not a company hired by Romney hired illegals without his knowledge.
Can't be true, RJ..
December 6, 2007 - 15:29 ET by ThisnThat...the most trusted news channel wouldn't try to bias anyone during a speech -- would they??!! I want to see the same thing during an Obama or Clinton speech. Think it'll happen?
I'm waiting for the day of true channel ala carte, where I can exclude my 3 Spanish channels, 3 public TV, 3 home shopping network, 8 local public access, and all of the non-news news cable (CNN, MSNBC) channels.

December 6, 2007 - 15:18 ET by Gary P JacksonIt's really funny how the drives bys look at religion. It's very much OK for dems to go into black churches, and even OK for Mrs Bill Clinton to use her "Southern accent" while she panders! But you let a Republican even let the word God slip from his lips, and America is going to hell in a handbasket.
Incredibly, this is all just accepted by the masses, with no question what-so-ever!
As an aside, after hearing Romney's speech, in my mind he is more Presidential.
I have to agree
December 6, 2007 - 15:31 ET by SouthJersey1953After reading his entire speech (put the link elsewhere), I agree. Still prefer Mike, but Mitt is an easy 2nd choice for me now....
No RINOs in '08 - Mike Huckabee is the best choice
My vote
December 6, 2007 - 15:35 ET by ThisnThatYeah, Romney just earned my vote. And that's the key -- they have to earn it. He not only delivered a good speech, he did it, apparantly, against the advice of all of his campaign team. This shows skill and guts, and his message resonnated. I've been waiting on others to step up to the plate like this. And, I think he can dish it out to the Dim winner, too.

Meanwhile the MSM ignores this
December 6, 2007 - 22:57 ET by IamTinmanThe catholic church has always considered abortion a mortal sin with supposedly automatic excommunication for anyone either undergoing an abortion or procuring one, yet try and find a democratic catholic politician who is pro-life. Now take Ted Kennedy or John Kerry (PLEASE TAKE THEM) both self professed catholics and compare the attention the drivebys paid to their religious beliefs during their presidential campaigns with the current kerfluffle with Romney. NONE!!
No wonder the media ranks somewhere below whale excrement in the publics opinion!
Fearless Leader Reid and
December 6, 2007 - 18:36 ET by bigtimerFearless Leader Reid and Senator Hatch are two perfect examples.
Hatch ran for President and there was not all of this BS of course he didn't get as far as Romney has or he would of by the leftist msm.
Cult member for president?
December 6, 2007 - 21:28 ET by Agent W.H.Y.Anyone who believes that he has the power to pull up his spouse
through the veil and up into heaven, and otherwise she would wander
around for eternity wondering what ever happened to her husband, is
insane.
And anyone who would vote for that person to be president
of the US is dangerous to himself and should probably be evaluated for
mental illness.
Another religious...
December 6, 2007 - 21:40 ET by Airforce_5_OBigot who has no clue what they are talking about raises its ugly head.
If you have nothing of substance to add to this debate the huffpo will gladly let you spew your bile, haft truths and lies some where else.
You are wrong and need to go get your own evaluation.
I have a fish named Mohammad, and my son has a stuffed toy named Jesus. The Muslims want my head and Kieth says I'm going to Hell.
he he he another crazy leftie
December 6, 2007 - 21:51 ET by candanceSo you go and read the Wiki article on Mormonism and find the strangest thing you can just to put it up here and bash someone's faith.
Was I that intellectually limited the two years I spent being a liberal?
candance, YOU were once liberal???
December 6, 2007 - 22:00 ET by professor truthSeen the light, have you????.......endless wars.?........stripping constitutional protections?........enemies within and without??........torture?......Opaque, unaccountable government ??.......government that spends more on Iraqnam in a month than on expanding healthcare for kids??.....stripping away labor rights, pensions, wages and healthcare?.....deregulation of business?......Enron?.....corporate ownership and privatization of government?......Which wonderful idea endeared you to Republicans? Think on it, son.
yeah those Clinton years were rough
December 6, 2007 - 22:08 ET by candanceBelieve it or not TP&C, I spent a few years seeing the world through eyes much like yours.
I'm just glad it was a phase I grew out of. But like I mentioned before, Clinton scared me away from the Democrats real good.

candance,
Then ,you should change you're screen name to "canthink". :)
lol can think
December 6, 2007 - 22:22 ET by candanceNah, my mother might get upset. She named me Candance because she studied music.
Well, it's a very nice name.
December 6, 2007 - 22:39 ET by Chris NormanWell, it's a very nice name. We can see that you think.
Wedge issue
December 6, 2007 - 23:53 ET by nkviking75I still think the major reason this Mormon issue is being hammered by the MSM is that they think it'll drive a wedge into the Republicans.
Note the different treatment of the two candidates best known for their religion. Romney: Can he overcome evangelical resistance (read "anti-Mormon bigotry")? Huckabee: Too religious for the job; supported by religious nuts.
When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.
faith-based politics
December 7, 2007 - 01:03 ET by candanceLike I said before, I prefer voting for a Christian because I am one, but it's not the dealbreaker.
I don't really care if someone thinks Tinkerbell lives on Mars and sprinkles pixiedust on airplanes. If they are conservative, believe in small government, hate anything that smells like a tax, and want to win the war, I'll give them a chance.
