LOL I like how you phrased
January 31, 2008 - 11:08 ET by SchnikeysLOL I like how you phrased option #4 as "October surprise" instead of just phrasing it as something like "October" or "They'll wait until October."
I voted for option #1, but knowing them, they'll do it whenever they dang well feel like it, as long as they know they can get it done.

January 31, 2008 - 12:47 ET by TruthMongerwhen NB favors McCain then this poll will be relevant:)...
Here's a good poll:
How soon will the media snap out of their catatonic state when Romney wins the nomination and the presidency?

Why limit your choices, it
January 31, 2008 - 11:10 ET by dscottWhy limit your choices, it 33/33/33, the third possibility is McCain will do this all by himself. <sarcasm>
Hanlon's Razor: Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity. dscott's corollary: The line between malice and stupidity is called depraved indifference.
They will start pounding away...

Somewhere between the time
January 31, 2008 - 11:12 ET by AgnosticSomewhere between the time they finish patting themselves on the back and before the end of the convention.
My vote
January 31, 2008 - 11:16 ET by candanceI voted it will start the day after he gets the nod. They'll be spending the rest of primary season gloating that they got their man to win, making fun of Rush, and assuring Republicans he can win so they decide to vote for him.
Only when the deal is set in stone will they suddenly stumble across The Keating Five, his age factor, flip flopping on tax increases and refusing to vote on a bill to end the war.
Beat me to it, candance.
January 31, 2008 - 11:20 ET by HermanoBeat me to it, candance. Lot's of stuff they can dredge up. Shocking isn't it? The K5 will be brought up as the "Culture of Corruption" again, failing to recognize that 3 of the 5 were dems.
They won't turn on McCain because he won't win GOP, Romney
January 31, 2008 - 11:20 ET by PawpawNThey won't turn on McCain because he won't win GOP, Romney will be the GOP candidate. The MSM will wonder why all these people in the GOP are so stupid they didn't realize that McCan't should have been the nominee! They'll turn on Conservatives, GOP, and Romney, will say he bought the nomination!
Oh, woundn't that be nice! I

from reporters aboard his campaign bus. ``I will hate them as long as I
live.''

This will be payback for
January 31, 2008 - 11:43 ET by midnight cowboyThis will be payback for John F'n Kerry big time. The media has been waiting 4 years for this moment. Right before the convention they will drag out some veterans who served with McCain who will have less than stellar comments about him. Starting with that he finished almost last in his class at the academy. They will bring out good ol' Ross Perot except this time they will use Perot's decades long support of helping Viet Nam vets and point out that Perot recently came out against McCain and who also has no kind things to say about McCain.
McCain's countdown humiliation
January 31, 2008 - 11:54 ET by not_lima_HI don’t know when they’ll open fire but I’m sure they’re just salivating and anxious to pounce. This is why the argument to support this chump doesn’t make sense. It doesn’t matter if he’s slightly better than a Hillary or Hussein, he will never beat them. He’s despised by his base and just a tool for the left. The only group that honestly likes him are Hispanics. This will be huge for him in California where they are more than a third of the population.
• California: 35.9% of population, 22.8% of eligible voters.

January 31, 2008 - 12:02 ET by Cape Conservativecome Tuesday! Can't you just see it now???? If BHO wins, Ted Kennedy is the kingmaker...if John McC wins, Ted Kennedy will have his co-sponsor of illegal immigrants bill to wine and dine with. In any case, think of the Ted Kennedy YUCK factor!

January 31, 2008 - 12:11 ET by PawpawNhttp://apnews.excite.com/article/20080131/D8UGUCUG0.html Consumer spending slowed in Dec/how with all the political monies spent on these candidates! Guess that doesn't count, since Shillary doesn't pay for her meals or give tips-guess none of them do! If we put the monies spent on the election into the ecomony, then we'd be set for at least 8 years!

January 31, 2008 - 12:23 ET by BruzillaIt'll be right after the convention, and the weapon of choice will be the Keating 5.
IF, he hs the most delegates
January 31, 2008 - 12:26 ET by FastEdthe media will start the negative press, with tickels coming from clinton inc. Things like he's too old, something MUST have happened at the Hanoi Hilton, if he was such a god pilot, how did he get shot down?
THEN, what will really scare everyone, as liberal as he is, he AIN'T liberal enough! Only those who are self loathing and anti-business and capitalistic, will start the barbs when it looks like there is real threat to the demolib contender, the media darling, the golden hildabeast.

Right on,BT
January 31, 2008 - 12:29 ET by iveseenitallI wrote to all the "big wigs" here in Fla. I told them what I thought of their turning their backs on the very people who elected them (conservatives). Disgusting! I hope Fla. turns on them next time.

The media needs to slow
January 31, 2008 - 12:39 ET by Right2thePointThe media needs to slow down and think about what they are doing.
With the rise of Olberman and his ilk and Crissy and all the other crud that passes for entertainment and news, if they enable Clinton to win the WH and drag a new congress in with here they will be harnessed and put into service and public credibility will drop even faster as they become the 'organ of the state'.

media and mccain
January 31, 2008 - 13:40 ET by soosanif mccain is the candidate they won't have to turn on him - the repubs will lose. the man is just too cranky, his personality, not any media agenda, will sink him.
mcRINO Whah???
January 31, 2008 - 13:53 ET by VT Con ManOf course, the long knives came out for Romney the day he announced...
We still need a rally around the more conservative choice. A former governor of the most liberal state in the union...
wow
They already have and you did not notice it
January 31, 2008 - 14:08 ET by Lame CherryLast evening Law and Order on NBC aired a program about a crooked politician who sold himself for the inclusion of mafia interests setting up Indian casino gambling.
That is EXACTLY what John McCain and Joe Lieberman pushed through.
So in case you didn't notice, the Dick Wolf show also had stall tapper Larry Craig involved so you would know the grey haired crook was a Republican.
Wolf does this often being the Hollywood Pravda propaganda line to prepare the masses for stories which are coming.
It already started to sink McCain.

The Clinton Mafia
January 31, 2008 - 14:16 ET by pocomocoBy now, the Clinton mafia knows everything about him from the very instant his mother gave birth.
When it becomes clear that he will be the nominee, the Clintons, via their servile press, will begin to ‘report’ on any and all negative aspects of his whole life - even how long he used his pacifier as a baby.
As we’ve seen in the past, the Clintons leave no stone unturned including checking out the dirt under the stone.
Sadly, they won't have to.
January 31, 2008 - 15:06 ET by IamTinmanJohn will do something to cause his own undoing. Remember the "You can't do it my friends" comments regarding picking vegetables and "I hate those gooks". Those kinds of comments will sink McCain long before some decades old bank scandal.
Juan McCain the MSM Party candidate for now.
January 31, 2008 - 16:26 ET by CTThe most obvious question is, who will stand up to defend Juan McCain when the MSM turns on him???
If John McClinton gets the republican nod...
January 31, 2008 - 16:37 ET by R D HelmThe MSM will began their assault on him before the lights go out on the last day of the Republican Convention.
He has no clue what he is in for, as he honestly believes the liberal, military-hating MSM actually likes him. His education in reality is going to be rather rude.
If he is the nominee.

January 31, 2008 - 23:15 ET by Cape Conservativea BIG "IF"!!! I'm voting for Mitt come Tuesday morning!!!! I sure hope everyone isn't giving up so early...DON'T let the msm dictate to us who will be left standing!!!!!
CC, I, too, will be voting for Mitt on Tuesday
February 1, 2008 - 14:14 ET by R D HelmIf John McClinton manages to dominate the preceedings, then, sadly, I think the author of the scamnesty bill will be the nominee for the Republican Party.
I just hope the real conservatives in these states do the right thing and vote to defeat this imposter.
There are absolutely no circumstances that I can currently envision that will permit to to vote for John McClinton. No way, no how. I refuse to reward this clown for his association with Teddy K and the left.

Trust me, the McCain MSM
February 1, 2008 - 20:49 ET by KimberlyTrust me, the McCain MSM Massacre is coming. It's already in the works. As has been pointed out, this is the MSM's chance to exact revenge for Kerry vs. the Swift Boat Vets.
The only thing that can save McCain now is if he wakes up and picks a rock-solid conservative choice for VP (Fred Thompson, anybody? They've been friends for years...) who can manage to rally the Reagan Republicans in a last surge to hold back the Clinton machine.
My stepdad was one of the big movers and shakers behind Ronald Reagan's 1976 presidential campaign, where he eventually lost the nomination to Gerald Ford, who before his presidency was known as a classic Rockefeller Republican--"moderate" (read: just slightly to the right of the Kennedys) through and through. At the Republican Convention, Reagan gave a stirring "Rally Behind The Candidate" speech that was so strong, so compelling, and so moving, that one of Ford's campaign staffers turned to Stepdad and whispered, "Sh-t, we nominated the wrong guy. We're going to get killed in November."
I fear it may take 4 more years of the Clinton dictatorship before the so-called "moderate" Republicans wake up and realize they have to move back right again to have any hope of ever winning the White House again.
