August 9, 2007 - 06:27 ET by dmntd1unfortunately, I live in an enclave of Liberals. The only intelligent conversations I have about the future of the USA is with the radio in my car, and with myself.

NB is too good to keep to myself
August 9, 2007 - 07:08 ET by PamI link here almost daily via the blog and in routine conversation, I link here via e-mail or verbally, at least twice a month. NB is a good source for people like my Dad and his friends that are not bloggers and have no interest in blogging. They are people that try to keep up with current events and realize that there are great alternatives to the newspaper and tv.

Christians
August 9, 2007 - 08:15 ET by cvgbuckeyeTell me about any other single forum in which Christians are able to make a contribution without being told to keep it to themselves (as if we would anyway).
There are probably more Brothers and Sisters in Christ on this forum than any other that I know of.
Regarding the "believe what you want to but just keep it to yourself crowd" there are a few but not many.
Some will find this rather hard to believe but I am unaware of anyone that is a committed Christian and at the same time a liberal; at least in my personal acquaintances. Liberalism and Christianity are just not compatible, mainly from a morals point of view.
Some have argued this point from the position that Conservatives harbor uncharitable leanings towards the poor. This position ignores the statistics that Christians, by more than a 2 to 1 margin are more charitable than those who do not attend church or do so irregularly.
Of course you will notice that when a subject regarding Christianity is placed on this forum, it is usually responded to more than any other. Christians are comfortable with Conservatism and I have told most of my acquaintances about Newsbusters.
Most only watch but don't contribute, to my knowledge.
Their are a whole lot/many
August 9, 2007 - 08:33 ET by general companyTheir are a whole lot/many Democrat Christians, the Baptist church down here is a perfect example.
I have mentioned this site too many illinformed folks that only read headlines and belive them, unfortunately these folks would rather believe gossip then to go out of their way to be informed. I have actually had folks claim they do not watch/believe the news, but on the other hand have BDS so bad that they cant see straight? What is up with that? Pitiful
I have a theory
August 9, 2007 - 09:01 ET by HelenSIt seems I come up with these theories periodically and impose them on youse guys when they’ve achieved a certain degree of cohesion.
Here’s my latest: On why (I believe) liberals/democrats are uncomfortable with conservatives and why they (lib/dems) are such conformists to feel-good causes and superficial “goodness” (for want of a better word) –
They do not have any foundational or core moral belief system. Christians/conservatives have the Judeo-Christian ethic built in and it serves as the ground for their thoughts and beliefs and actions.
Liberals perceive what seems to be considered acceptable or desirable behavior patterns and strive to achieve it but because they lack the core and foundation of the Christian system, they have to build it on what appears to be a system of “goodness”.
Therefore, when their personal beliefs or their cause’s beliefs are challenged, they have nothing to fall back on, feel threatened, and fight tooth and nail to maintain their precarious balance of good-behavior, worthy causes, and whatever else they use to bolster this façade of being good and caring people.
I don’t necessarily believe that they’re deceitful or evil people. I just believe that they do not have the foundation on which to build a genuine moral core.
They seem to perform certain acts (like the bogus cause of saving the planet) in order to make them feel like good people rather than taking up worthy causes because they’re good people.

August 9, 2007 - 23:38 ET by RESTLESS 1Matt, while I agree with your post, I still think Helen's comments hold water. I think the difference lies in how liberals believe God to be as opposed to how consvertives believe God to be. Liberals seem to want to portray God as perhaps more lenient than conservatives believe Him to be. They want to see a God that does not judge as harshly, and in doing so, renders morality less relevant to admission into Heaven than conservatives see it. There is certainly a idealogical difference between conservatives and liberals, but I do think there is an aversion to judgement on the left that is not as prevalent on the right.

I Keep Newsbusters Elite
August 9, 2007 - 17:04 ET by Lame CherryI only tell select people about Newsbusters as I am quite selfish in wanting to keep this site exactly like it is about people who actually know something about the subjects.
Everyone here knows how old it gets in a big hurry being on liberal sites where all you have is foul language, idiot ranters who can not keep on subject or the main objective is not debate of ideas but promoting a book attacking something about America.
This site is precious in it mixes it up with titans daily and is building a solid base of the best of American minds.
