SO MUCH that I've stopped watching the television since Jackson's timely death. When the internet stories die down I'll click the remote to see if the coast is clear.

Poor Farrah Fawcett.  She didn't get any coverage at all.  What teenage boy in the 1970s didn't have the Farrah red bathing suit poster hanging on his wall?

I think the coverage is over the top.  But we live in an American Idol culture.  I'm mad at Fox News for giving over their time to it.  While Congress is voting on cap/trade tax hike, and Iran and North Korea are going crazy, we have to watch Sheperd Smith relate his stories about dancing to Michael Jackson.  I have come to expect that garbage from the other networks, but I was hoping Fox News was above it.

How have they covered his death? Like a very large, very smothering, blanket.

I am not criticizing the dead, but I really don't need to stand by for a statement from his gardener.

There was NOTHING TO COVER!!!!

...beyond the initial reports, but this went on nonstop for days.

Bunch of people standing around talking about him.  Won't know for probably weeks what actually killed him.  And then what?  Will he then come back to life somehow?  Conspiracy theories in the works?  

One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 61% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory (yep...approval for Congress now at 39%...do you believe that!?).

"We are the World" being playing ad Nauseum for what seemed like a millinium. Why, even now my gag reflexes are kicking in. Im too old to remember much of his music which I thought was pretty much not my cup of brew but then when Rap came along, I long for something that doesn't sound like someone who has had a lobotomy and suffering with gastrointestenal problems. I would rather listen to power tools set to the frequency slightly above "irritation".

Where's the "I don't care selection"? With all that is going on in the world today do we really need to put so much emphasis on a drug fiend? Just think, if Rush died tomorrow, all you would hear and I mean not stop, is "He was a drug addict... blah blah blah addicted to pain pills... blah blah blah. I don't mean to sound callous but there once was an old saying - "You live by the sword, you die by the sword".

I just came back from the movies with my oldest son and decided to check in here and started reading the threads about the gloved one and saw that people were saying that Billy Mays had died. I googled it and sure enough, the Mighty Putty man is gone. I wonder what coverage he will get? I know I will miss him a whole lot more.

Considering all the coverage that followed some one like princess Diana, who despite her fame never really did anything other then marry a prince.

I don't see it unreasonable that the media should cover this the way that it is. After all it is the untimely death of the most famous person of all time who is also the highest selling music artist of all time (yes some one actually more famous then Obama). 

 Also i doubt the msm would have covered the cap n trade bill much even if the pop king hadn't died. oddly enough the news seems a little more back to normal then what has been the status quo lately. 

I voted way over the top . . not to say I didn't expect such coverage for a pervert such as him.

His death doesn't help those boys he victimized, but it prevents any other boy from being molested by him.
