As has already been
November 3, 2008 - 13:50 ET by HelenSAs has already been suggested, there may just be a few early voters who wish they could change their mind based on recent information.
I'm eager for all of this to be over but I really would rather vote on voting day than cut in line and vote early.

November 3, 2008 - 15:39 ET by TD in FLThat's because, while a new batch of 18-24yr olds do end up voting liberal, a good portion of the previous batch has now garnered several years of real-life experience. After discovering how much of their hard-earned money goes out the door to fund lazy people and pet projects, they start thinking of politics a little more seriously; eventually they find the GOP is a better fit. Essentially, a continuous demographic shift in voting preferences.

Obamaramabama....
November 3, 2008 - 13:56 ET by Prester John...will be in my neck of the woods (Prince William County) for his last big rally. This county is considered ground zero for Virginia because it is the transitional county between the incredibly blue area inside the Beltway/purple area just outside the Beltway and the rest of the solidly red areas of the state towards the southwest. I don't know if this is simply a "get in McCain's face" maneuver or if BHO thinks he can win here.
The voting precinct I will work tomorrow as an election officer reliably goes 2-1 for the GOP and it will be interesting to see what the numbers will be tomorrow. I am guessing McCain will get over 70%. Unfortunately it is a rural precinct with only a couple of thousand voters.
Oh, and as I drove by the scene of the rally (the country fairgrounds) at noon, I noticed a number of high school aged kids hanging out waiting for the gates to open.
I guess they'll be getting academic credit for bowing down at the altar of Obama.
Howza about the kids bussed to McCain's rally...
November 3, 2008 - 15:21 ET by...of course, to their surprise they found out it was a McCain rally and not Obama's!

early voting
November 3, 2008 - 13:59 ET by LorraineI think early voting is unConstitutional. So much can happen in those final weeks and you can't take your vote back.
I don't like mail voting either, it's too fraud prone. It was OK back when you had to have a legitimate excuse for an absentee ballot - away at college, in the military, etc. But it's out of control now. And how do you know your ballot actually got there?
I like voting at the polls on Election Day. I like the traditional feeling of everyone gathering together to cast their votes.
"...gathering together to cast their votes"
November 3, 2008 - 14:03 ET by Prester JohnI agree 100%. There is somethingto be said about standing in line with the your fellow citizens to vote. This whole idea of literally mailing in your ballot for those who don't have a valid reason to vote absentee cheapens the entire process.
Prester John, I don't like
November 3, 2008 - 14:42 ET by LibraryLadyPrester John, I don't like voting early but I do it because (like you) I am a certified election commissioner and know tomorrow will be very busy.
Louisiana has no restrictions for early voting but we DO require photo IDs and never have a problem.
Agreed. If its too
November 3, 2008 - 17:06 ET by Conservative VoiceAgreed. If its too crowded, then the election commissioner needs to open more booths, not open more days to vote. And people should be required to show proof that they are who they say they are. The faith of the electorate is fragile right now, and it will get worse if measures aren't taken to take voter fraud seriously. It is this faith that keeps America America, and not feeling the need to storm the castle with our pitchforks.
I'm voting today - actually
November 3, 2008 - 14:02 ET by MichelleCI'm voting today - actually mailing my ballot today since my county in Washington is absentee only (I don't like it either). I don't like to send it in too early - never know what might happen!

I didn't know there was a county in Wa. that is absentee only...it isn't King Co. is it?
I know Oregon is all absentee...is Wa. slowly but surely trying to go that way too?
I know you may note be here now...if you see this later and respond, I will check back...just curious.
I voted absentee too...we sent them in last week, we haven't had problems here in my area in Mt. but I know they have had fraud in the eastern part of Mt. last election.
"America isn't the problem...America is the solution." ~ Rush Limbaugh
Nope, not King!
November 3, 2008 - 19:32 ET by MichelleCI live in Thurston County (home to Olympia) and we're completely absentee. We voted on it a few years ago and unfortunately it passed. Other counties are leaning that way and anyone can request an absentee ballot. It used to be that you needed a valid reason for it like being out of state (we have a lot of military folks out here) or disabled, but not anymore.
King County doesn't need absentee voting to commit fraud. They have ACORN up there in Seattle and that's where all the kooky libs live!
Update: Okay I checked for you BT. All counties are absentee except for King and Pierce counties. At least that's what my research tells me! I've only ever voted in Thurston, Pierce and King so I can't speak absolutely about the others. (And no, I didn't vote in all three at once!)

November 3, 2008 - 14:26 ET by PrairieSkyIt is unbelieveable to me that any American who believes in America would not take advantage of their right to vote...Especially this year. As far as I'm concerned, if you choose not to vote, then you lose your right to gripe about the outcome or any of its repercussions.
My mother-in-law is a PUMA. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy, but despite that, she will be voting tomorrow, in Florida, for John McCain and Sarah Palin.
I will definitely be voting tomorrow for McCain/Palin!!!!!

November 3, 2008 - 14:28 ET by MichelleCUnfortunately, I have a brother who does not vote. It frustrates me to no end and I have talked to him until I'm blue in the face. One year he complained that his property taxes had gone up (it was in part due to a school levy) - I let him have it. I told him he had no right to complain since he couldn't bother to connect some lines on a piece of paper and I wouldn't listen to it. He still doesn't vote, but he now keeps his mouth shut.
Don't worry, I keep trying to help him understand the importance of voting. I truly believe it's our greatest privilege and highest honor.

November 3, 2008 - 15:17 ET by PrairieSkyI hadn't thought of that.
That said, that better be the only reason that someone is not voting. It is unfathomable to me that any American who can vote and who gives a damn about their country would intentionally choose not to vote. I haven't missed an election since I was 18, and barring being trapped in a cave somewhere or being dead, wild horses couldn't keep me from voting.
Ever.

I don't need to deal with the ignorant morons who remind me of rats following The Pied Piper! I used to be an election judge but gave it up after dealing with the brain dead idiots who come in to vote. You wonder what kind of dope their parents took during their conception! I honestly believe that if Obama is elected ,this will be the last free election in America. The Communist will have succeeded in overthrowing the government of this country without firing a shot! Remember, Obama says hes going to drasticly change America! If he is called to question on this, he'll remind everyone that he kept telling us this in the beginning. I just wish there was some degree of intelligence with the hypnotized voters to open their eyes before its too late!

Will Early Voting Skew "Exit Polls"?
November 3, 2008 - 14:53 ET by PrieblesWe are hearing about record breaking early voting turnouts for Dems in the MSM. If that is the case, and if the majority of Republicans will be voting on Election Day...won't this skew the "Exit Polls" in McCains favor?
And if the early exit polls show McCain is ahead...will the MSM report it? Remember in 2004 exit poll data leaked and many commented on how well Kerry was doing in an attempt to suppress Republican votes out West.
Can you imagine Chris (Thrill up my leg) Matthews sitting on that information and not using it to get out the Obama votes in the MidWest and West? Me either.
I hit the wrong entry.

Just a Hunch.
November 3, 2008 - 15:00 ET by okiehawk44My guess is that when this "historic" election is over tomorrow, the next election in 2 years will not attract the massive early voting seen this time. Why? Because the novelty and historic opportunity will have passed and it will not be viewed in nearly the same way. If you can't get out to vote one day every year or two, you are lazy or stupid or both, and next time you will revert back to what and who you were in years past no matter if you are given two weeks or two months to vote.
Election Day should be the only day to vote
November 3, 2008 - 15:16 ET by kevinm13Election Day should be the only day to vote. Election laws need to be overhauled big time. Absentee ballots should be kept to a minimum particularly in Presidential election years. Election day is well known months and even years in advance so people should make arrangements to be at their polling place on election day. If they can't they should have to explain (and there should be a short list of excuses why people can vote using an absentee ballot) why they won't be voting in person.
Photo identification with some proof of citizenship needs to be mandatory. Many places don't require this. Ink everybody like they do in Iraq so that once inked, people can't vote again. Make voting machines recognize voter ID's like at the airport where I can scan my passport to check in for some international flights.
Voting is a priviledge that the left and those who need to are trying to make easier. Make it like driving a car and take it away if you are unworthy of voting.
It use to be that one had to
November 3, 2008 - 17:12 ET by Conservative VoiceIt use to be that one had to be an invested voter, ie someone who actually has to pay the taxes Congress passes. We're getting more and more voters who are voting socialism, because they don't have to pay the bill. Compound that problem with voter fraud, and it won't take long before this free land becomes something written about in the history books.

I do not believe either men are evil or unpatriotic. Neither Socialist or communist. I simply have no faith in McCain's ability to manage this economy. I also believe Obama has the right position on Foreign Policy and veteran's support while at arms and at home. The time of the Hawks must pass. I am Republican but I am not a right winger. You may not agree with my position. That's ok. I have to believe our tent is big enough for a wide variety of republicans.

I am sorry, your statements are just plain ignorant.
But more importantly...
If Jesus were alive today, I fear he would look at the voice of the republican party and walk away.
He doesn't look at any labels, He looks at the heart, and asks "Do you know Me?" "For I am the Truth and the Light, NO ONE comes to the Father except through ME." Got it? You might want to, your eternity depends on it.

A prime example of intentional misleading wording
November 4, 2008 - 00:43 ET by Chaitealoveris Prop 8 here in CA. Our very liberal AG Jerry Brown [formerly known as Governor Moonbeam] changed the title from one which told the intentions of the proposition's writers to restore the meaning of the word 'marriage' to mean only between one man and one woman to "Eliminates the right of same-sex couples to marry," a 'right' they didn't have until 4 liberal judges gave it to them just this year, in spite of the votes [twice] of more than 60% of California's voters.

Anyone who votes for Hussein O should burn their bibles before going to the polls and close their eyes if they pass a church. I am going to be a vote that is going to count for the betterment of this country that I loved so much and served with my life on the line. I will vote Country first before everything else. I will vote McCain-Palin 08.
God help us all.
I have another idea!
November 4, 2008 - 08:48 ET by AmericanEnergistWe all have heard about early voting - how about LATE voting?
THE TEMPLATE: The MSM supresses the vote by announcing the East Coast goes all blue - then the red voters in midwestern and western states are bummed out and don't vote.
With LATE voting, the Eastern states polls close and the polls in the midwest and west stay open an extra 12 hours or so.
Might that change things? I'm watching different channels this morning and Obama's transition team has appointed all their cabinet and federal judges. As for Sen. Diety, he's laying out his agenda for the second term.
