November 14, 2007 - 22:50 ET by acumenHey BT!
Sorry to take so long to get back to you - been busy with medical stuff with Sheila. BTW - I bought her Mark's book.....and a box of tissue :)
I'll post a link to Mark's site here for those that might not know you can listen to streaming programming or like yourself don't have good radio reception. I have really enjoyed his recent shows listening to all the good pet stories - really good stuff like the Coast Guard dog that salutes better than many on the ship :) If Mark keeps this stuff up he's going to ruin conservatives' reputation as narrow-minded, uncaring neanderthals :)
As far as the list goes - it's really hard to say one conservative is better than another. They all bring something unique to the conversation, I enjoy them all and feel blessed to have such fine people supporting conservatism.
Rush undoubtedly paved the way for all of the others on radio as well as helping to make FOX News a household name (I remember his heavy support on EIB when FN first began) and God only knows how many conservatives Rush inspired. And as others have noted Rush's support team (Bo Snerdley, etc) shouldn't be overlooked. And we can't forget the good folks at MRC. Others involved in TV or Print media on the list and not on the list for that matter can't be overlooked either - Some really inspiring thinkers - humbling.

November 13, 2007 - 21:56 ET by ChaitealoverHe seems to have a habit of diminishing women, adding "ette" to terms like "reporter" for women reporters. And he invariably calls Senator Clinton "Mrs. Clinton." Like her or not [and I don't], she is a US Senator and should be afforded her title.
My pick was Charles Krauthammer. I've often wished he had his own program and would just sit behind a desk and share his knowledge on all sorts of topics, not just political, with us lesser beings.

November 13, 2007 - 23:27 ET by motherbeltRush does the "reporterette" thing on purpose, to irritate liberals. People that don't know how he operates don't understand sometimes. Like he says "I'll tell you what to think about it." That's a parody of what he says the MSM does: instead of just reporting the news, they tell people what to think about it. It's sometimes hard to tell when he is talking "tongue-in-cheek."
AS for the "Mrs. Clinton", I call her that myself. I think Rush does it to point up the connection to Mr. Clinton. I do it because I refuse to go the "Hillary" route, that she's so famous and popular that everyone calls her by her first name.
Thanks, mb
November 13, 2007 - 23:37 ET by Cape ConservativeI was just going to say the same thing - you were just faster on the keyboard! November 14, 2007 - 15:04 ET by fitzfongYou can always tell when someone has never listened to a program then becomes a self-appointed expert on the host. If you had any clue what you were talking about on the subject, you'd acknowledge Rush Limbaugh is no shill for George W. Bush or anyone else. Limbaugh is a free agent who says what he thinks at all times...he doesn't take talking point orders from the White House, he doesn't need to. It was Limbaugh who almost single-handedly killed the illegal alien amnesty bill that Bush tried so hard to ram down our throats. He's called Bush out on his toothless attempts to sell the social security reforms, on his choice of Harriet Myers for the Supreme Court, on his inability to stand up to the bullies in the Senate over Alberto Gonzalez and on countless other occasions. When Limbaugh agrees with Bush, he says so. When he disagrees, he says so. Limbaugh didn't sell out and doesn't need to sell out...he's an industry of his own. But go ahead, marinate in your ignorance. After all, everyone is entitled to an opinion.
Limbaugh doesn't "diminish
November 14, 2007 - 15:21 ET by fitzfongLimbaugh doesn't "diminish women". He may, on occasion, make light of an individual woman by referring to her as a "reporterette" or an "anchorette"...but that is typically a commentary on the individual's fitness for the job. Truth be told, there are some "journalists" out there who are unfit for the profession. The sheer ignorance and bias of their questions and reporting suggests elevation to positions beyond their capabilities...in other words, the sole qualification is the correct gender.
And what is this recent obsession with granting Hillary Clinton (or any other politician, for that matter) so much unearned respect because she has a fancy title? Her only qualification for the Senator's gig (in a state where she had no previous connection, mind you) was that she hitched her trailer to a sleazebag who just happened to be President once. Sorry, Mrs. Clinton it is.
Cute dog, though.

She also wins my vote for her recent comments on Guiliani : "...If Republicans are going to decide that Giuliani is the best standard-bearer for the party, they better do so with eyes wide open and absolute candor. He is–at best–only marginally better than Hillary Clinton on immigration and border security..."

As Rush has stated more than once, he validated the opinions of everyday conservatives who's beliefs were never, ever reflected in modern media. He is without question one of the most brilliant thinkers of our age and is gifted by God with the ablity to express those thoughts in such a clear and concise way that many liberals have even become convinced of their beautiful truth.
He is passionate, humorous, honest, and personally humble while using a broadcaster's bombast and bravado only as a tool to illustrate liberal absurdity and communicate the ideals of our God-given liberties, limited government, and self-reliance.

Tough Choices
November 13, 2007 - 23:03 ET by pbthinkerEach of these commentators has things that I like. I had to vote for Laura Ingraham because she's really great at pointing out the hypocrisy of the left.
George Will is, perhaps, the most thoughtful of the bunch and, sometimes, doesn't seem as conservative as some people would like. He does, however, force you to think about issues differently, which is the point of being a commentator.
Thomas Sowell is another of those commentators that forces you to think about issues differently. He generally expands on knowledge, you already feel you have, and is good at pointing out the failures of the left, as far as their ideas are concerned.
Ann Coulter is fun to read. Many times you have to ask, "Can you really say that?" then you think about what she said and understand why she said it the way she did. My problem with Ann, as opposed to the others, is she'd have a hard time persuading a liberal she was right (they'd be too busy trying to pick apart what she said) while the others present calmer arguments that say the same thing and force liberals to think about why they think the way they do.
Anyway, that's my opinion.

November 14, 2007 - 11:16 ET by Senior Chiefpb,
We're conditioned and programmed to speak (or listen) in a PC environment and therefore Ann's way of saying things sometimes offend people. As a result, people just submits to the mercy of the leftists and in return, they will control or dictate what is/is not right way of expressing an opinion. I have no problem with Ann. She cuts through the chase and points out the real issue. Old folks, like some of us here in NB, don't see any issue with Ann, but a few of young conservatives do have some issues with her by the way she steer the conversation- fast, furious and to the point.

November 14, 2007 - 10:58 ET by Six String SpiffWrite in: Jay Severin. Most of the others are kind of annoying to me. Rush is the Man too. Just have to say it even though he's already considered the best. Michael Graham is another one of my favorites.

Conservative Pundit Tourney?
November 14, 2007 - 11:21 ET by Hero SquadI've really taken a liking to Glenn Beck of late. He seems to cut to the chase as well as anyone, and anyone who can write "An Inconvenient Book" gets kudos for the title alone. But I wouldn't want any on this list to disappear.
With so many fine choices (listed and unlisted), perhaps we should set this up as a head-to-head competition, narrowing the field in a college basketball tournament grid-like fashion until just one pundit remains.
(Just for fun, put Randi Rhodes or Al Franken in the play-in game.)

November 14, 2007 - 11:24 ET by Cool ArrowI DVR Glenn Beck and BOR every night.
Beck is starting to take the lead as BOR tries harder to attract Dems.
I vote ANN!

Ann eats everybody's lunch.
Charles always leaves Mara Liasson looking stupid.
Beck is one of my faves also.

November 14, 2007 - 17:03 ET by balboaThose shows aren't the same kind of show as the Colbert Report. Not nearly as elaborate nor anywhere near as funny.
Duh.
