May 5, 2009 - 16:05 ET by Dustin JolleyAs a Conservative, I find Michael Savage to be little more than an embarassment to our party. I believe that most Republicans, except for Savage actually respect people with disabilities.
It doesn't matter...
May 6, 2009 - 09:03 ET by heldmywIt's their country.
If, in their infinite wisdom, they do not wish to allow red-haired rosicrucians, or left-handed vegans, who are we to say 'nay'?
It does strike me as ridiculous that England will tolerate hate-spewing, fanatic muslims and other foulmouthed clowns while barring a 'shock jock'.
But hey! It's their house, and their rules.

Only conservatives are banned in Britain
May 5, 2009 - 10:31 ET by c5thenIf you are a lefty extremist or an Islamic jihadist, you are free to say whatever you want.
This is why the Founders put the Freedom of speech as our first specifically enunciated right in the Bill of Rights. The first thing that a tyranical government tries to control is the speech of it's citizens. The second thing it does is take away their arms to leave them defenseless.
Hey, I got the wrong "CHANGE"!

Absolutely true!
May 5, 2009 - 10:38 ET by StogieGuyThis is why, in 25 years, there will be no Britain as we know it. It's a goner. Between unbridled immigration from Muslim countries, high birth rates within those communities, and ultra-liberal enablers like this idiot, there will be a crescent moon flying over the Union Jack by 2034. And, ultra-libs like this will be the first victims of sharia law - too. At least we have those beheadings to look forward to....
Also, a quibble with the poll question: it's not just that the UK is too strict with who's on their airwaves. That's not even the issue here. Michael Savage isn't even on over there. No, he's being banned from entry because they don't like what he says OVER HERE. A whore like Madonna can live there without a problem, but Savage can't even spend the night in London? Lunacy. Sheer lunacy.
Beware America, this type of thinking is running our country now too.

May 5, 2009 - 10:33 ET by PewahHeads up people. The U.K. is a great example of where the U.S. is currently heading with the Fairness Doctrine.
I regularly listen to Michael Savage while prepping dinner. I think he can be a little unreasonable at times, but then I always have the option to employ my right to reach over and change the station.
I find it interesting that they are silencing the dissenting voice of a Jew with the same laws that were probably designed to protect his people from Nazi-esque skinhead rantings and the like that are common over there.

May 5, 2009 - 11:07 ET by QueenMumOther. I don't give a hoot what the standards are in Britain. Whether or not he deserved to be banned is up to the British. The question is more relevant as it relates to how Savage is treated in the U.S.
Edited to add: After reading later posts, have reconsidered. See above.

I do not like Michael
May 5, 2009 - 10:38 ET by LiberalliesI do not like Michael Savage at all. He is way, way, way too far to the right for me. Not only that, he is a very angry individual. The type of anger that I have rejected from the left and which the right should also reject.
All this being said, it is pathetic, ridiculous, embarrassing and speaks tons of the piece of garbage England has become!!
Michael Savage has God given right to speak his mind and those that agree with him, whether in England, the USA or some where else, have the RIGHT to listen to him.
As a many of my British friend say, they are ashamed of what England has become. A political correct, get drunk all day nation. People are more interested in alcohol, sex and other pleasures than fighting for their nation. Whole neighborhoods in England are being over taken by poor, radical Muslims and England sleeps.
England is more worried about keeping Michael Savage out than keeping radical Islam out.
I say it is time to boycott England and English products.

England is in trouble. Even Liberal friends of mine say so. My very Liberal boss who is married to an English goes to visit her husband's parents every year during Christmas. She admits that she has seen England change radically. Her mother-in-law's neirghborhood has been over taken by Muslims and the up keep of the neighborhood has gone down.

May 5, 2009 - 11:59 ET by adamsmithLiberallies, what your friends are describing is what happened to Russia with Communism. Since the government provides(meagerly) what the people need, and there is no chance for self improvement with their tax laws and political correctness in regard for the English people(no incentive to work never mind opening a new business) the people become hopeless. They may even support the politically correct socialism, but become hopeless anyway, blaming it on any capitalism still left.
This is what we have to look forward to in the United States unless we can vote out the socialists we have presently in the White House, Senate, House, and soon to be Judiciary.....

Any nation that prohibits
May 5, 2009 - 10:48 ET by NL207Any nation that prohibits free political speech is guilty of censorship. Any nation that practices censorship is not free. Britain is not free. Canada is not free. On the Continent, many "democracies" prohibit political parties, books and symbols. None of those places are truly free soil.
Savage is to my mind uncouth, but how much more detestable is he than say, the Islamists Jihadists that Britain allows to speak freely? The sole criteria for prohibiting Savage appears to be his political viewpointm, which challenges 'progressive orthodoxy'.
Free speech doesn't exist anywhere in the EU...
May 5, 2009 - 10:48 ET by ThalpyFree Speech doesn't exist anywhere in the EU, Britain included. The Left control the press through regulation--exactly what our ruling class have in mind for us. That is, when your radio or television license is up for renewal, your performance is reviewed. If the committee judges your station to be diverse, inclusive, and just enough, your license is renewed--or not. It's left up to them--heavy on the Left.
Typical
May 5, 2009 - 11:05 ET by Ozark_SunshineTypical of the in bred bad tooth society they call England. That is why our familyies came to America, to get away from the idiots running the British government. Even as much as I love golf, I will never take a trip to the British Isles to play their links because I can't stand the stupidy of these people who protect terrorists and would stifle free speech.
Savage is right: There is no England anymore
May 5, 2009 - 11:09 ET by R D HelmAnd in about 15 or 20 years, there REALLY WON'T be an England anymore.
The timing of this is interesting, given the congressional hearings that are about to get cranked up here regarding radio content.
As for us, we are about 90 days away from most probably seeing legislation passed that will essentially take Rush, Sean, Neal, Michael, and a host of others, off the air.
Should that happen, and I am thinking it has a 50/50 chance of passing, maybe a little better, actually, it will essentially ensure the statists will be successful in their takeover of our country.
Once they get rid of conservative talk radio, they will be coming after us, next.
Statists tolerate no dissention of any kind.

This coup has gone on long enough. The time to put it down is NOW.
I am not a particular fan...
May 5, 2009 - 13:00 ET by PrairieSkyof Michael Savage...he's generally too far to the extreme right for me. And like it or not, it is up to the Brits who they allow in their country or on their airwaves. That said, I do think there is a double standard at work here...It does appear that those expressing extreme leftist views are okay in the UK, but the reverse is not true for those on the right...I think some parity is needed across the pond...

Losing England?
May 5, 2009 - 11:16 ET by easygoerMy good buddy Colin, lives in Cardiff, Wales. And while he may live in Wales, he's a dyed in the wool Englishman from Southampton on the south coast of England. He's also a standard liberal who's backed Labor all his life. But he has become a hawk when dealing with these Islamofascists. He is very proud of his English heritage and is absolutely sickened by what's happening to his country. Here's the email he sent me recently:
Subject: Proud to be English
Isn't this the absolute truth????
From The Queen's Royal Lancers Website:
Goodbye to my England, So long my old friend
Your days are numbered, being brought to an end
To be Scottish, Irish or Welsh that's fine
But don't say you're English, that's way out of line.
The French and the Germans may call themselves such
So may Norwegians, the Swedes and the Dutch
You can say you are Russian or maybe a Dane
But don't say you're English ever again.
At Broadcasting House the word is taboo
In Brussels it's scrapped, in Parliament too
Even schools are affected, staff do as they're told
They must not teach children about England of old.
Writers like Shakespeare, Milton and Shaw
The pupils don't learn about them anymore
How about Agincourt, Hastings , Arnhem or Mons ?
When England lost hosts of her very brave sons.
We are not Europeans, how can we be?
Europe is miles away over the sea.
We're the English from England , let's all be proud
Stand up and be counted - Shout it out loud !
Let's tell our Government and Brussels too
We're proud of our heritage and the Red, White and Blue
Fly the flag of Saint George or the Union Jack
Let the world know - WE WANT OUR ENGLAND BACK !!!!
Regards, Colin

The Beginnings---Rudyard
May 5, 2009 - 13:36 ET by ConservativeRexThe Beginnings---Rudyard Kipling
It was not part of their blood,
It came to them very late,
With long arrears to make good,
When the English began to hate
They were not easily moved,
They were icy willing to wait
Till every count should be proved,
Ere the English began to hate.
Their voices were even and low,
Their eyes were level and straight.
There was neither sign nor show,
When the English began to hate.
It was not preached to the crowd,
It was not taught by the State.
No man spoke it aloud,
When the English began to hate.
It was not suddenly bred,
It will not swiftly abate,
Through the chill years ahead,
When shall count from the date
That the English began to hate

But have her crack down on terrorists, or illegal immigration, she's hated. Have her put up streetcorner cameras, and universal ID cards and she's "crazy". Have her ban guns and demand other nations do the same, she's Queen Mum.

Britain is our future
May 5, 2009 - 13:19 ET by OhioladThe actions of the British government make very little sense. What business is it of theirs what an American talk show host says to an American audience? It is no crime here, at least not yet. But we should pay attention to what is happening in Britain because we are both travelling down the same road to serfdom– they are just a little further along that road than we are at the moment, but that may change. Gradually, ever so slowly, they are exchanging their freedom for some illusory security. Soon the leftists will have turned Britain into a sad, sickly nanny-police state with cameras and busybody social workers on every street corner. How prescient George Orwell was?

Border Control
May 5, 2009 - 23:18 ET by DustBunny01A country has a right to set up its own border control measures and control who is allowed to enter.
Just because the U.S.of A. has no substantive standards doesn't mean that every country out there has to follow our lead.
What little I've heard from Savage was generally loud and obnoxious and that in itself shouldn't result in a ban from entering a country but, I will reiterate that a country has a right to control its own borders.
British Censorship.
May 6, 2009 - 07:45 ET by melpolEntertainers like Savage are needed to frame a ridiculous side to political events. He is funny. But there are those that have no sense of humor.
