I picked the second
October 1, 2008 - 13:42 ET by bigtimerI picked the second choice...
McCain camp has made it easier putting her out on couric's show twice now, not using her where they should in my opinion, people want to hear her own voice...like she was doing so well earlier on the campaign trail...throngs of people were out there to listen to HER...McCain less.
Oh well, the numbers are dropping now, and they just don't get it.

October 1, 2008 - 13:57 ET by Conservative Voiceto add, they played the victim card too much at the beginning...even though justified, they shouldn't played it. She should use her charm to again make fools out of the media and the Obama camp. The Russians have a defense strategy, protect the capital by expanding your borders. The more McCain and Sarah play the victim card, the more they look weak.
For example when Couric was like, can you give me an example that you read the news [ because you're an Alaskian Hick ], she should of smiled and said I am very well read, certainly more read then relying on a teleprompter to tell me what to say. When Couric was like...are you going to make it illegal for the rape or incest victim to have an abortion, smile and say why is it I get the questions for wanting real choice...but to encourage life, while people like Obama get a pass for voting that its ok to kill children even if they survived an abortion. At what age does Obama think its no longer ok for the mother to take out their kid, since every kid born survived an abortion?

unsolicited advice for Palin's debate
October 1, 2008 - 17:06 ET by mom_roxSarah Palin should mention how she and John McCain have had the fortitude to go against their party because they believed in putting the interests of the American public first.
Then Palin can mention how Barack Obama has had the fortitude to go against his own party members several times when he did not support the BAIPA. Then she should turn to Joe Biden and personally thank him for supporting this bill even though he is a pro-choice advocate.
The clincher: Palin should pretend that she is a doctor holding a tiny baby in her hands who survived an abortion attempt. Then state what would have happened had Barack Obama received his wish. She would wipe her hands clean and say, "Congratulations, the baby is no longer alive and according to Barack Obama, you are no longer punished with a baby."
regarding Barack Obama's tax plan - I never received a job from a poor person.
Sarah Palin's gaffes
October 1, 2008 - 13:42 ET by CarlosSSince they haven't dug any dirt out of the Alaska dumpsters nor caught any obvious Palin gaffes they've had to resort to replaying Tina Fey SNL skits as "news"

talk show hosts
October 1, 2008 - 14:13 ET by livingfreeWhat in hell is wrong with these people? Are they so whacked out that they can't even fake any fairness? This has been the dirtiest most rotten campain in history. I will never vote democratic again. They are truly the worst of the low life bottom feeders. If my fellow Americans don't see through this garbage then so be it. They will get exactly what they deserve. Re-Education Camps. Livefree or die trying

October 1, 2008 - 14:15 ET by tremwebjunkThey made this big deal of what a great speaker she was, what a good governor, etc, but as soon as the convention was over they lock her in a room and don't let her talk. It has been compounded by the fact that what little video they have to play of her off-prompter she puts her foot in her mouth by almost biden-esque proportions. When Couric asked the journalism major, who said she keeps up to date by reading papers, she failed, utterly. When she gave that 20 minute rambling explanation about russia, that somehow included healthcare, what the hell was that?
No one watches tv to see politicians give pat, practiced, concise answers, they only want to see these people make fools of themselves. If people didn't watch it, they wouldn't put it on TV. It's the Fox model spread across the ideological spectrum

October 1, 2008 - 14:28 ET by livingfreeThe people of Alaska like and respect their Gov. Unfortunately her fellow Americans find in necessary to drag her and her family through the mud with lies and inuendo. There is no professionalism any more, just who can sling the mud better. A sad, sad day for Americas image. The world is watching and laughing.

October 1, 2008 - 14:41 ET by tremwebjunkOk, so the people of Indiana like Obama, Delaware: Biden, Arkansas: Clinton(s), and yet people attack them all the time. I think politicians should be judged solely on their political merit, but when personal life had a direct correlation to your political message, that is fair game.
When she was Palin was asked what decisions she made as Commander of the national guard, which she used to show her experience, she couldn't think of one. It's not "unprofessional" to ask someone to stand by their statement, or point out when they were talking nonsense.
I saw the daily show rants on here, but find the clip contrasting Palin, Rove, O'reilly, etc with their reaction to something about Palin, vs a democrat.
Barrack Obama Personal life = Political Message
October 1, 2008 - 19:34 ET by Kirk HallHe chose as one of his first fininacial advisors, Tony Rezko, a slum lord now convicted on 16 counts of corruption.
Another one of his associates is William Ayers, a man who bombed the pentagon and then said he didn't do enough. BO launched his entire political campaign at his house.
And he chose as his pastor a man who has blamed America for the 9/11 attacks. He sat in Rev. Jerimiah Wrights church for 29 yrs listening to hate.
See, we can play this game all day long. Sarah Palin has more experience at leading then BO, Biden and John McCain combined. You know, I know it and the American people knows it.
It's more like what they
October 1, 2008 - 14:35 ET by mattmIt's more like what they tried to do to Clarence Thomas. A black conservative is a threat to the Liberal lie of republican racism, and Palin is a threat to the Liberal lie of republican sexism.
But even worse, Palin is a walking demonstration of the vacuity of feminism. She is a mom, a successful career woman, a babe AND a republican. Her success in this election (and in the future) would be a repudiation of the ridiculous post-modern feminist philosophy.

Media Characterturing Gov. Palin
October 1, 2008 - 15:21 ET by AvitarI spent a lunch once with Dan Quayle. He was showing the flag for his family, the biggest newspaper publishers in Indiana and I for my father who was chamber of commerce vice president of Indiana's fourth largest city at the time. We were at a lunch for one of Indiana’s congressmen.
It was the year before Dan Quayle first ran for congress. He was reasonably bright, for a lawyer, but he wasn't glib. This seems to be the problem. The "talking heads" do not care if you do not have the faintest idea what you are talking about as long as you speak well.
I believe that Sarah Palin is smarter than Dan Quayle but Dan Quayle is head and shoulders above Tom Brokaw and a mental pigmy like Keith Olbermann can't reach his shoelaces. Dan Quayle, as Senator, championed the patriot missile program. That program actually got built and works.
I think it's fine Palin is choosing interviews carefully
October 1, 2008 - 15:28 ET by jmwThink about it. Her selection as VP has succeeded in significant ways: galvanized the base, neutralized the identity politics issue, and awakened the sleeping giant of Republican women.
The GOP always makes the same mistake: they assume that if they go play in the media sandbox, THIS time they will be treated fairly. They rarely are.
Given the way that Sarah Palin has been treated by the media (just look at the way her interviews have been EDITED, for petssake), and knowing the sole goal of the media is to play an extreme verision of "gotcha," why would she go there? If she could expect at least a semblence of fairness, maybe. But this is not American Gladiator. (Actually American Gladiator is more fair because all contestants have the same rules and playing field - I'm still waiting for the army of researchers to show up in Chicago to research Obama.)
So I am fine with her choosing interviews where she has the best chance of being heard, and letting the rest focus on McCain.
It is deeply unfair that the new standard of success in GOP campaigning is to somehow communicate despite the media. Is it too much to ask to be part of a grown-up two-party dialog on where the country is going? A democracy relies on media to survive. This year a majority of media have finally and completely turned without shame (or self-awareness) into a communication arm of one party. That endangers the democracy. Or sets the stage for an angry revolt.
Is it November yet?
The McCainiacs keep
October 1, 2008 - 15:35 ET by BDThe McCainiacs keep throwing her out there like a clay pigeon.
I have a sneaking suspicion that they do that purpously due to McCains own egoist tendancies. He is likely upset that she draws better crowds than he does, has a more loyal following amongst the conservatives who he see's as his own personal enemies after the 2000 campaign.
This "Maverick John McCain" crap is total egoism.
A small quibble with the poll question
October 1, 2008 - 16:13 ET by nkviking75I understand what you mean by the question, but the wording suggests that Dan Quayle was what he was portrayed to be. It would have been better to ask if the media was smearing Palin the way they did Quayle in 1988.
When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.
Well let's see...
October 1, 2008 - 16:39 ET by MidAmericaWell let's see... Goldwater was portrayed as an extremist nut who would get us all blown up, Nixon was evil incarnate, Reagan was an intellectual lightweight B-actor pretending to be President, GHW Bush was an elite detached fellow who didn't understand the common man, and of course we all are aware of the savaging done to GWB. I think I see a pattern.
Of course
October 1, 2008 - 16:51 ET by TheAssessorThe media is defining Palin through SNL. Every time she speaks everyone thinks it's a comedy routine. It's a damn shame, but you can't get that picture out of your head once MSM has run it a bjillion times. Deeee-pressing as hell. I am praying for a miracle.

Yes they are smearing Palin without justification
October 1, 2008 - 17:02 ET by Lame CherryThe media has simply run out of things to smear Gov. Palin on so have settled on until the debate when she trounces Joe Biden, then they will term Sarah Palin as "brilliantly stupid" just like they made a career out of smearing George Bush who they could not defeat as "brilliantly stupid".
Ronald Reagan was also brilliantly stupid. Rush Limbaugh is brilliantly stupid too as Ann Coulter is.
It is typical liberal failures retreating to their 5 year old retaliation, "You're sputid" as they pout.
God bless Sarah Palin as this nation needs her for the disasters which are coming from the crooks of the Obama mentors.

No Balls McCain
October 1, 2008 - 18:18 ET by ScrapironThe communist tortured all the fight out of McCain and cut his balls off. Why else would he stand for the slime and slander from Hussein's camp? He has enough on Hussein to remove him from the campaign and most likely put him in prison. His Maverick title is a self made title to soothe his own ego. Time for him to stand up for himself and turn the 'Pit Bull' loose on the democrats. She slammed and jailed some in her own party in Alaska, let her do it to the democrats, they're easy, just tell the truth about them and people will spit on them in the streets.
Old, Retired and glad of it.
AGREED SCRAP !!!
October 1, 2008 - 18:35 ET by MrShyAfter the early September honeymoon, the MSM is in all-out mode against these two.
Palin's problem now, along with McCain's, is they're both smiling way too much and trying to make the media their friends.
Enough of this. Get out there, show the world who the good guys/gals are, call the media out both by their words/speeches directly on the campaign trail and through advertising, and slam Obama and Biden at every turn that they try to slam their ticket... and HARD.
The media will stomp on them, but so be it. In the process, they'll also have to expose O/B, giving their lies the much-needed exposure.
What they need to remember is, historically a majority of this country knows the smell of bullsh*t and votes for the one with more core integrity. No difference, I think, in 2008 -- even with the MSM machine against them -- but get the word out directly and remind the people of who the phonies are in this race.

better to be quayle than pinnochio
October 1, 2008 - 18:35 ET by porpoiseboystill almost nothing in the press about that liar biden. just some gaffes, etc all forgivable if you are a pinhead. but what about the FACT that he is a freakin' pathological liar? that he lied for sympathy or to get some kind of political advantage about the deaths of his wife and daughter. he alluded to them being killed by a drunk driver...something that is not only patently false, but has caused much pain to the family of the man driving the car that hit them when they turned in front of him. if biden was pinnochio the end of his nose wouldn't even be in the same county as the rest of him.

October 1, 2008 - 20:01 ET by cocodrieDan Qyayle is an intelligent guy who was maligned by the MSM. The won't get away with it on Gov. Palin, they no longer have a monopoly on the news. She will do fine, she has three things no democrat or MSM stooge has - class, intelligence and integrity. Can't wait to see her nail Biden's sorry hide to the wall.
I had been a bit nervous but...
October 1, 2008 - 20:17 ET by MexNobama...gave the good governor another listen on Hannity today.
I have a feeling that she has been using the old ropa a dope on the dems.
Granted the entire MSM machine is a massive opponent but swings its big heavy fists in a slow clumsy manner just like Big George did when Ali outsmarted him in Africa.
They may have already punched themselves out. What have they left to say about Palin. She's dumb? They've worn that one out.
She's too Christain? That is not going to play well in rural America.
So what's left? "Troopergate"? That's pretty weak.
If Sarah does well (and after today's radio interview I am pretty sure of it) the MSM won't have anything left to throw at her.
A Palin victory will put McCain back on top in the battleground states.
