Geraldo RiveraCNN's Lou Dobbs Claims Shot Fired at Home, WifeRecently a lot of hubbub had been made about the possibility that the peaceful tea party protests and some conservative voices would stir up emotions that could lead to violence. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was even one of those sounding that alarm. But what has gone unsaid by those same voices has been the possibility of violence against those who might take a position antithetical to that of the left. Case in point: CNN's Lou Dobbs. Dobbs, who has been the target of a smear campaign by the left-wing noise machine, told his radio audience on Oct. 26 that his home had been shot at three weeks earlier. (Unabbreviated audio available here) Geraldo Blames Lou Dobbs for Anti-Hispanic Sentiment in U.S.
Speaking at a luncheon sponsored by El Diario La Prensa NY, Rivera disgracefully said, "Lou Dobbs is almost single-handedly responsible for creating, for being the architect of the young-Latino-as-scapegoat for everything that ails this country." Rivera also told the audience that he had spoken to his boss, and was assured Dobbs was not coming to Fox (video embedded below the fold with partial transcript): Geraldo Calls CNN's Sanchez a Jerk, Hangs Up on Malzberg for Calling Sotomayor Racist
Regardless of the tension on display or the uncomfortable conclusion, what transpired perfectly demonstrated how far we as a nation are from ending racism. At first, Rivera seemed rather reasonable when he called CNN's Rick Sanchez a jerk for his comment a few months ago that Hispanics working for Fox News are all sellouts. But when the discussion turned to the confirmation of Justice Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court, and whether her comments concerning a wise Latina woman making better decisions than a white man could be perceived as racist and sexist, Rivera got quite defensive and eventually hung up on his host (15-minute audio available here, rough transcript below the fold): Geraldo Gets 'Goosebumps' & Bumped Head from SotomayorAccording to a posting at MediaBistro's TVNewser, FNC's Geraldo Rivera admitted to being so excited about Judge Sonia Sotomayor's selection for the Supreme Court that he got "goosebumps" when he heard the news and bumped his head on a light fixture when he sprang from his chair in excitement. TVNewser's Gail Shister writes: "The Fox News host was so excited about the high court's first Hispanic nominee that he leapt from his chair in his home office and bopped his head on a low-hanging light fixture." She went on to quote Rivera: "This is as important to us as Obama was to the African-American community. I have goosebumps." The 'Conservative' Geraldo Rivera? Only in the NY Times
Coulter and Rivera Debate Campaign Issues on 'Fox & Friends'
At issue were such things as the Los Angeles Times' refusal to share the controversial videotape of an encounter with Barack Obama and former PLO operative Rashid Khalidi, McCain's position on immigration, how Sarah Palin was treated by the media, and how baby boomers still in love with the '60s are dominating journalism. Videotape of much of this segment is embedded below the fold (h/t our dear friend Johnny Dollar): Friday Funnies: Geraldo Rivera Gets Knocked Over By Hurricane IkeMoments ago, Geraldo Rivera, reporting live from Galveston, Texas, was knocked over by the storm surge ahead of Hurricane Ike. This delicious example of poetic justice needs no further introduction (h/t Johnny Dollar): Geraldo Has Sympathy Pains for Hillary on Bosnia Gaffe

Geraldo Proclaims He's 'Proud' to Vote for Obama
The following is the full statement from Rivera as it occured on the March 29 edition of "Geraldo At Large."
Geraldo Loved Bill Clinton, But Spitzer's 'Another Horny Hypocrite'Geraldo Rivera of Fox News appeared Thursday night on the Tavis Smiley show on PBS, and before he unloaded another bucket of invective against a "savage right-wing talk show campaign" on illegal immigration that makes school kids cry, he denounced former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer as just "another horny hypocrite," comparing him to Sen. David Vitter, evangelist Ted Haggard, and Sen. Larry Craig. He said he resented "anyone who uses any kind of state resource for their own private predilections." Does this sound like the same Geraldo Rivera who devoted his nightly CNBC talk program in 1998 to praising Bill Clinton (and trashing "investigative terrorist" Ken Starr) and insisting he stand tall against....charges he used state resources (young staffers) for his own private predilections inside a state building? From the transcript on the Tavis Smiley website, here’s how Geraldo began remembering Eliot Spitzer:

Richard Belzer Hopes Obama Redefines 'Warmongering, Intolerant,' America
The following is the full exchange as it occurred on the March 2, edition of Fox News’ Geraldo At Large: Geraldo Rivera: Rush Limbaugh 'Dean' of 'Nativist Reaction'
Geraldo also said he refuses to even shake CNN correspondent Lou Dobbs’s hand. The relevant transcript is below. Allahpundit at Hot Air has the video. Touting Geraldo, ABC's Cuomo Rips Anti-Illegal 'Fear'
Later in the segment, he again dropped any objectivity and opined, "There is a lot of history, a lot of fact in this book. Interesting in a discussion that's usually fueled by passion--" In comparison, the host offered no such accolades to Republican Congressman Tom Tancredo, a foe of illegal immigration. During a June 2007 interview with the then-presidential candidate, Cuomo asked if Tancredo, who fought for tough border security bills, was "driving anti-immigrant sentiment?" He also chided Tancredo for using "scary" words in regard to the contentious subject.
CNN Starts 'Blanket Boycott' Against Fox News AuthorsCNN Has stiffed Geraldo!
It's bad enough that CNN is so anti-social that they won't return Fox's kindness, but even worse that they went ahead and booked Geraldo and then pulled the rug out from under his invite after all the plans were made! Geraldo: Can GOP Candidates Convince Hispanics They Don't 'Hate' Them?
Later, on the December 9 show, Rivera continued the slurs against the GOP candidates when he introduced the Carl Cameron report on the debate: Worst ‘Notable Quotables’ of the Past 20 Years: A Potpourri of Idiocy
For sheer wackiness, it’s hard to top then-CNBC anchor Geraldo Rivera, who sang his disdain for independent prosecutor Kenneth Starr during the height of the Lewinsky scandal, July 21, 1998, on his Rivera Live program, to the tune of “Twinkle, twinkle, little star.” Rivera Apologizes for Saying He'd Spit on MalkinMore than a week after Geraldo Rivera said he'd spit on Michelle Malkin if he ever saw her, the controversial Fox News anchor issued an apology on last night's "O'Reilly Factor." "I just, you're so filled with emotion," Rivera said referring to the incident. "Someone calls you a liar and a fool, you want to strike back at them. It was an unguarded moment." "I totally apologize, that's not me, I don't spit. I'm not a spitter," he said. Transcript and video below the fold. Hat tip: Allahpundit. FNC's Dhue Charges Any 'Shame' of Homosexuality a GOP Creation
After pointing out that the chances that Craig’s conduct was simply misunderstood by the police officer were “extremely low,” Dhue suggested that any stigma on homosexual behavior was the fault of the Republican Party. Dhue declared: “I think the sad part about all this is that Larry Craig had to go to a public place — if it’s true, if he is gay — he had to go to a public place, and that’s the shame of homosexuality in this country right, today — at least the shame that the Republican Party puts on it.” |
